Abstract

This research was conducted in class XI IPS 1 of SMA Adiguna Bandar Lampung in the Even Semester of the 2015/2016 Academic Year with the purpose of this research was to increase the activity and learning outcomes of History. This research is a Classroom Action Research that is the process of learning problems in the classroom through self-reflection in an effort to solve these problems by carrying out various planned actions in real situations and analyzing each effect of the treatment. This research was designed in two cycles with each cycle consisting of the stages of planning, implementation, observation, evaluation and analysis and reflection of actions. The research subjects were 22 students of class XI IPS 1 of SMA Adiguna Bandar Lampung in the 2015/2016 Academic Year. Data collecting techniques using observation sheets, test techniques and documentation. The results showed an increase in learning activities and students’ learning outcomes each cycle, student learning activities in the initial conditions there were only 8 students or 36.36% increased to 14 students or 63.64% and 20 students or 90.91% in the last cycle. Thus, the average student learning outcomes also increased in each cycle from 62.25 increased to 72.05 in the first cycle and at the end of the second cycle increased to 79.55. This was also evidenced by the increase in classical learning completeness where in the initial conditions there were only 7 students or 31.82% increased to 63.64% or 14 students and 20 students or 90.91% in the second cycle. From the explanation above, it can be concluded that the use of a group investigation learning model can increase the activities and learning outcomes of Class XI IPS 1 at SMA Adiguna Bandar Lampung in the 2015/2016 Academic Year. It is expected that in the future, this learning model can be applied in the learning process in other subjects so that what the teacher's goal is to improve the quality of education is achieved.

Abstract

This research aims to improve the activities and learning outcomes of students of class X IPA 1 of SMAN 12 Bandar Lampung through Discovery Learning by applying a scientific approach. This study used Classroom Action Research that has stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection, carried out in two cycles, each cycle conducted in two meetings. The research subjects in this study were students of class X IPA 1 SMA 12 Bandar Lampung in the Academic Year of 2017/2018 with 32 students. The required data obtained through observation, and tests using test questions. The collected data were analyzed with qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques. The results of descriptive analysis after applying a scientific approach through the Discovery Learning learning model showed an increase in student activity and learning outcomes. Assessment of observations of learning activities also increased where in the initial condition 14 students or 43.75% increased to 25 students or 78.13% and 100% in the second cycle, while student learning outcomes showed an increase from the initial condition average value of 66.25 in the first cycle the average value obtained by students was 72.50 and in the second cycle the average value obtained by students was 78.13 with mastery learning from 16 students or 50.00% increased to 26 students or 81, 25% and 93.75% or 30 students in the last cycle. The conclusion is the application of a scientific approach through the learning model Discovery Learning can improve student learning activities and outcomes in learning English in Class X IPA 1 SMA Negeri 12 Bandar Lampung Academic Year 2017/2018

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to improve the teachers’ ability of SMAN 2 Pringsewu in preparing HOTS questions through individual guidance. This research was conducted in the even semester in 2018/2019 academic year with a total of 6 mathematics subjects. Data collecting technique used were questionnaires and observation instruments about the assessment tools. The result of Preliminary research indicated that the teacher does not understand what HOTS is about its characteristics and how to arrange it. After the implementation of individual guidance in the first cycle for the preparation and development of HOTS questions from 6 teachers obtained an average value of 85 and the results of the questionnaire about the attitudes of teachers towards individual guidance 83.33% agreed and 16.67% were still in doubt. This showed a positive attitude for the teacher towards individual guidance. From the second cycle the results of the study for the preparation and development of HOTS questions obtained an average value of 94% of questionnaires on the positive attitude of the teacher in the second cycle increased to 100% agreeing to the guidance model through individual guidance. This shows a very significant increase.

Abstract

This research analyzes the romance formula presented in Love, Rosie by discussing the standard convention of the novel. The romance formula analysis tends to prove what is the sociocultural background in 20th century of Ireland society which becomes the cultural background of the novel. We discuss the issues among popular culture and also finding out the dominant components of the story which builds the story into a romance story. The discussion is employed the Cawelti’s concept and supported by Radway’s theory of romance. This study discusses Romance formula in Love Rosie is presented by the two dominant elements, those are the romance plot formula and the characters. The inventions of the romance formula in Love Rosie is found in the writing style of the novel. The novel is written in the form of instant messages and letters that are sent between the hero and heroine. The results of this study indicate that Love, Rosie has two dominant elements that built the story into a romance story. The first element is the story plot and the second is the main characters of the story whom develops the love relationship in the story, which are the hero and the heroine. The story plot of Love, Rosie can be classified into four stages, those are the first meeting of Alex and Rosie, Alex and Rosie fall in love to each other, Obstacles which contain the internal and external conflicts of the hero and heroine, and the ending of the story.

Abstract

: Edmodo promotes students’ learning opportunities in the three following ways: creating a practical learning experience, allowing students to exchange positive feedbacks, and motivating students in the teaching-learning process. This research is a classroom action research that investigates the improvement of students’ writing skill taught by using Edmodo at STKIP PGRI Bandar Lampung. There are two cycles that the first cycle consisted of four sessions, and the second cycle consisted of three sessions. The population of this study was the second semester students in the academic year of 2018/2019. Both quantitative and qualitative data were employed to analyze the data. Writing test was conducted for obtaining quantitative data. On the other hand, qualitative data were in the form of an observation sheet, questionnaire sheet, and documentation. The treatments signified improvements of students’ writing skill in each cycle which is represented by the mean score. The mean score of pre-test was 56.76. It improved to 68.53 in the first cycle, and became 76.67 in the last cycle. The observation sheet, questionnaire sheets and documents proved that students performed active participation and engagement during the instructional process that fostered better skill in writing text.

Abstract

This study discusses liberal feminism in 21st century in America. Liberal feminism. The representation of liberal feminism in A Woman is No Man explains how powerful is the feminism movement in encouraging Arab woman in Arab-American society. The representation of liberal feminism in A Woman is No Man is depicted through female characters’s struggle in getting the equal right with men. The narratives and the dialogues of the novel construct the discourse of liberal feminism where Arab women are considered as inferior and Arab men are considered as a superior. However, the liberal feminism is showed through the main female characters’ struggle to get the same equal right with men in the novel. According to this reason, Stuart Hall's representation theory and discursive approach by Michel Foucault are applied as the main tool to analyze the problems. Betty Frieddan’s Feminine Mystique is utilized as the supporting theory to analyze the liberal feminism in the novel. The results of this study shows that the idea of Arab men is superior, Arab women are inferior become a common knowledge and general agreement among society.

Abstract

Efforts to improve student understanding require effective and efficient methods. In addition, appropriate learning media are also needed so that students can master the competencies expected. In the teaching and learning process, the media has a very important role in supporting the achievement of learning objectives. The application of the demonstration method by using visual playing role playing in learning about the earth and celestial bodies is expected to arouse students' curiosity and interest as well as motivation to learn, also can facilitate students in understanding the material and information conveyed. While the objectives of this study are to increase understanding of the earth and celestial bodies in 6th grade students through the application of demonstration methods by using visual media to play roles. This research uses action research as much as three rounds. Each round consists of four stages: design, activity and observation, reflection, and refinement. The targets of this study were students of grade VI SDN 01 Sukarame, Bandar Lampung City. The data obtained in the form of formative test results, observation sheets of teaching and learning activities. From the results of analysts it was found that student achievement increased from cycle I to cycle II namely, cycle I (25.92%), cycle II (92.59%). The conclusion of this research is the teaching method of demonstration with role playing visual media can positively influence learning motivation of Grade VI students of SDN 01 Sukarame, Bandar Lampung City, and this learning model can be used as an alternative to learning science.
