Abstract

Exposure to cigarette smoke often occurs among people, especially low-income countries. Frequent exposure to cigarette smoke can cause an increase in ROS in the body resulting in increased oxidative stress. As a result of ROS increases the antioxidants in the body decreases, therefore it takes antioxidants from the outside contained in food sources, one red bit. Red bits contain betalain compounds that are high in antioxidants that function to neutralize ROS in the body. This study aims to determine the effect of red beet ethanol extract with various doses to increase the expression of VEGF, and thickness in endometrium of mice exposed to cigarette smoke. The research design is True Experiments with Post Control Only Control Group Design design. The study used 25 female rats divided into 5 groups: negative control group, positive control, treatment I, II and III. The dose of bit extract used was PI (125 mg/kgBW/day), PII (250 mg/kgBW/day), PIII (500 mg/kgBW/day). The data were analyzed using One Way Anova with p-value VEGF (p = 0.000), and p-value of thickness endometrium (p = 0.000). The results showed that administration of red beet ethanol extract at doses of 500 mg/kgBW/day increased the expression of VEGF, and endometrial thickness of mice exposed to cigarette smoke. Keywords: Exposure to cigarette smoke, VEGF Expression, Endometrial Thickness, Red Beet.

Abstract

Sugar Industry X in processing liquid waste from sugar production activities by using Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP). As the years of IPAL performance increase, it is necessary to evaluate the effectiveness of IPAL performance. The purpose of this research is to know the treatment of liquid waste in Sugar Industry X. The method used in this research is descriptive observasional. This research uses primary data and secondary data. Primary data were obtained from interview and interim observation of secondary data from processing section in the form of inlet laboratory test result and IPAL outlet. Parameter of result of laboratory test analysis is pH, BOD5, COD, TSS, Sulfide, oil and fat. Sampling is conducted from July to October 2017. The results of this study are the average pH concentration 7. The Sugar Industry X IPAL works effectively in lowering the concentrations of BOD5, COD, TSS, Sulfide, oils and fats. The order of decrease of concentration of parameters are 97,90%; 97.51%; 78.80%; 99.80%; 28.81%. From the evaluation of wastewater at IPAL outlet shows that all parameters have met the quality standard of waste water for sugar industry based on East Java Governor Regulation No. East. 52 of 2014 and Minister of Environment Regulation no. 5 Year 2014.

This research was conducted by design case control with 30 respondents for case and control group. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and measurements. Data analysis using Chi-square test. The results showed that there was no significant relationship between temperature, humidity, and home lighting on the incidence of pneumonia. It is known from the temperature p value = 0,353 (p> 0,05), humidity p value = 1,000 (p> 0,05), lighting p value = 0,606 (p> 0,05), occupancy density pvalue = 0,542 (p> 0,05), and room wall type p value = 1,000 (p> 0,05). Abstract

The maternal mortality rate reaches 305 per 100.000 live births, where 76% of maternal deaths occur in the labor and postpartum phases. The high mortality of maternity mothers is caused by delays in family decisions in handling complications. Delays in getting help are caused by the patient's condition, which is already very severe until the place of referral due to the postponement of the family in making a decision to be referred immediately. The Childbirth Planning and Complication Prevention (P4K) program in the pregnant women's class is an activity facilitated by midwives in the village to increase the active role of husbands, families, and communities in planning safe childbirth and preparing for complications for pregnant women. The study aims to determine the effect of the husband's participation in the pregnant women's class on P4K clinical decision-making. This type of research is observational analytics. The study was carried out in the Working Area of the Soropia Health Center. The total sample was 46 husbands who had pregnant wives, consisting of 23 husbands who participated in the pregnant women's class and 23 husbands who did not participate in the pregnant women's class. The data were analyzed using a chi-square test with the SPSS application. This study shows that, on average, husbands who participate in the course of pregnant women making decisions are in the excellent category. The decision-making in question is preparing for childbirth and preventing complications. The chi-square test results show a value of p=0.000 <α. The husband's participation in the pregnant women's class influences P4K decision-making. Based on this, health workers need to socialize continuously with their husbands about the importance of attending classes for pregnant women so that they can provide knowledge about childbirth preparation and the prevention of complications.

Their activity as natural antioxidant sources because it’s contains the flavonoids compound. This study aimed to determine the total flavonoid content on the ethanol extract of lemongrass leaves and the thatch grass leaves using UV-Vis spectrophotometry. The extraction wasdone by maceration methodusing ethanol. The first sample is 3,95% lemongrass leaves, and the second one is 2,98% thatch grass leaves. The qualitative analysis by TLC method with the eluent ratio n-Hexane:ethyl acetate (6:4) showed that both samples positively contain flavonoids. The quantitative analysis by spectrophotometry at the maximum wavelength 431 nm showed that total flavonoid content in the first sample is 2,8666 % and the second sample is 3,4866 %.
