Abstract

Since COVID-19, technology-based physical education has been normal and is emerging. This paper is intended to identify the development of scientific publications and map educational technology research pertinent to physical education. The keywords "technology" and "physical education" were searched for in the Scopus and Web of Science databases for this study. The number of papers obtained was 1120. The results of mapping this topic reflected fluctuating trends. Between 2020 and 2021, there was a notable rise in this subject resulting from the breakout of the COVID-19 virus and the subsequent protracted pandemic, which compelled most individuals to rely on technology for learning, including physical education. The source that contributed the most to technology and physical education was the "Journal of Physics: Conference Series." With eight articles, Mikhail Kolokoltsev of the Irkutsk National Research Technical University, Russia, contributed the most to technology and physical education. The most influential and widely cited paper was entitled "Final condition screening system of boys aged 15–17 years in the process of physical education" by Olena et al., 2017. The most frequently used keywords were "physical education," "technology," and "college physical education." With 421 articles, China contributed the most to technology and physical education. This study restricted its search to the years 2017-2021. In light of this, it will be crucial for future studies to create a comprehensive map by examining the first year of publications on this subject. It can be used as a guide to look at more interesting pictures that have not been evaluated or looked at yet.

Abstract

During a special period, physical exercise for Kumite athletes is targeted at developing the dominant physical condition. Arm muscular power, leg muscle power, agility, and anaerobic endurance are the dominant physical conditions in Kumite. The high-intensity interval training (HIIT) technique of physical exercise is in agreement with the characteristics of the energy system in Kumite. However, there are issues and contradictions in past research on its implementation. As a result, the purpose of this research was to put the HIIT training method to the test to develop muscle power in the arms and legs, agility, and anaerobic endurance in karate athletes in the Kumite category during the special preparatory periodization stage. This study employed an experiment using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample included 15 male and female Kumite athletes aged 20–25 years, weighing 50–80 kg, and standing 155–180 cm tall. Standing broad jump, two-handed medicine ball put, agility t-test, and running anaerobic sprint test were the instruments used. Interviews, questionnaires, and field tests were utilized to collect data. The data analysis technique employed descriptive analysis and the Wilcoxon nonparametric test. The overall value of Asymp.sig (2-tailed) was 0.001 to 0.009, according to the study's findings. The HIIT training method was found to have a significant effect on improving arm muscle strength, leg muscle power, agility, and anaerobic endurance in karate athletes in the Kumite category. Research has contributed to the sport of karate in the Kumite category through the application of training programs and models that correspond to the characteristics of the specific periodization. Subsequent research, of course, does not only focus on the special periods because other periods are also important.

Abstract

The phenomenon of escalating harassment and bullying of female athletes in sports demonstrates that there is a gap and urgency for further scrutiny. This study aims to reveal harassment and bullying cases against female athletes in sports. This study applied a mixed method. Participants in this study were athletes in several sports organizations at the University of Islam 45 Bekasi (n = 30). A questionnaire was used as the quantitative research instrument to measure harassment and bullying in athletes, while in-depth interviews were used as the qualitative research instrument. Quantitative statistical analysis used IBM SPSS to find frequency and percentage, and qualitative analysis used thematic analysis. The quantitative research results significantly proved that all participants often experience harassment and bullying, with the highest rate occurring in gymnastics, swimming, volleyball, and soccer. While the results of the qualitative research showed that all participants had experiences or stories about harassment and bullying, the causal factors included the conditions of the training environment, athletes' clothes, attitudes, and the knowledge of coaches and athletes. In addition, participants stated that harassment and bullying negatively impact their health and psychological aspects. As a result, we emphasize that incidents of harassment and bullying occur frequently in female athletes while they are participating in sports. It is expected that this research could provide information and understanding to all sports practitioners in Indonesia and all countries in the world that harassment and bullying are very dangerous and immoral and must be handled as soon as possible by providing strict rules.

Abstract

Endurance and speed are important components in supporting the success of futsal athletes. To increase this ability, many things can be done, one of which is to provide caffeine before exercising for maximum results. This study aims to determine the effect of caffeine on the endurance and speed of futsal athletes in Mataram. The research used is the type of experiment. In this study, the instrument for measuring endurance is the bleep test, while the speed is measured using the 100-meter sprint. This study is a population study because all populations are the research sample. The entire population is used in this study because all 16 samples are national athletes in the Vamos Mataram futsal group, and the research focuses on that one elite club. Data analysis was carried out using ANOVA with the help of SPSS. Based on the results of the data analysis of the futsal athletes of Vamos FC Mataram with the administration of caffeine, the significance value for endurance was 0.000 and the significance value for speed was 0.038. Based on the results of the significance test for the two variables having a value lower than 0.05, the data stated that there was an impact caused by caffeine administration to increase endurance and speed. The research has limitations, namely only focusing on one elite futsal club, namely Vamos Mataram, but the results are expected to be able to refer to the use of caffeine in an exercise program to be able to improve endurance and speed. Further research is expected to be able to cover more than one club as well as the addition of variables.

Abstract

The pandemic of COVID-19 has created the "New Normal" lifestyle and limited people to performing their daily activities from home. These changes in turn affect the level of physical activities, including the intention to engage in regular exercise, in most people, subsequently putting them at risk of having negative effects due to being physically inactive. This condition may down regulate the human immune system, making it more vulnerable to various diseases. Oral supplementation of fish oil has been proposed to have benefits for decreasing pro-inflammatory markers induced by exercise. This study aimed to analyze the effect of fish oil supplementation on the degree of fatigue perception following submaximal exercise. Forty-four male college students participated in this non-equivalent pre-posttest experimental research. The participants were supplemented with 2 soft capsules of 1.5 grams of fish oil for 8 weeks. The effect of submaximal exercise was carried out by the sit-up and bleep tests, which were measured before and after 8 weeks of fish oil supplementation. The research procedure was approved by the ethics committee of the Makassar State University research institute. The results showed that there was a strong relationship between the administration of fish oil supplements and the level of fatigue perception following sit-ups and bleep tests (p values of -0.529 and -0.658, respectively) performed during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study concludes that the administration of fish oil supplementation affects the degree of fatigue perception after doing submaximal exercise, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract

This study aims to test the integration of self-efficacy into physical training digitally by increasing the physical activity of young women. Social Cognitive Theory (SCT), by integrating self-efficacy in training and rehabilitation programs, has been used to address health problems. With the help of social support, a person's physical activity can be predicted. This study is based on the low physical activity of young women during the COVID-19 pandemic, which can affect the quality of health and social development. This study is an experimental study using a randomized pretest-posttest control group design. The instrument used to collect the data is the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) for young and middle-aged adults (15–19) and then processed with independent t test analysis techniques. The results of the average scores of knowledge, attitudes, and levels of physical activity in the control group did not differ markedly before and after the intervention. Whereas in the experimental group, the difference before and after the intervention was significant (t count = 6.9159; t table 1.6848 and 2.022; t count > t table), and the average value of the aforementioned factors increased after the intervention. The results of this study revealed that the use of digital media in physical exercise with the integration of self-efficacy can increase the physical activity of young women, and digital media can be effective in improving health-based behaviors. Sociodemographic variables such as the level of motor skills appear to be significant predictors of self-efficacy for coping with sedentary behavior. Understanding self-efficacy predictors for coping with sedentary behavior can help physical education integrate the emotional dimensions of health into physical education interventions, identify groups based on level, customize messages, and prioritize resources in shaping pro-health behavior.

Abstract

The use of video learning media has been believed to play an important role in facilitating the teaching and learning process. However, limited video learning media are available for teaching the sepak takraw course. To fill this need, this research aimed at developing a video tutorial to assist students in learning the sepak sila skill at the sepak takraw course. The study applied research and development (R & D) design with the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) model. Data were collected through a questionnaire and an interview. A questionnaire was used to collect the students’ needs, the validity of the product, and the students’ perceptions about the product. An interview was conducted to seek feedback from the experts (a content expert, a design expert, a learning media expert, and a practitioner or coach) related to the developed product. The data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The results show that the developed product was feasible to use. This was proven by the average score of the product validity, which was 4,7 (very good). The results of the field trials also showed very good results (4, 8). The students perceived the developed product positively, in that it could arouse their motivation to learn, was easy to understand and follow, and could help them enhance their sepak takraw skills. The study's findings could enrich existing theories about the importance of using learning media in teaching as well as provide a practical contribution in that the developed product can be used by both sepak takraw lecturers and students to improve students' sepak takraw skills.

Abstract

Returning to the face-to-face learning system for physical education, the researchers got several responses and responses from the stakeholders, one of which was the teacher. The purpose of this study was to determine the perceptions of physical education teachers in carrying out face-to-face learning activities in the post-pandemic. The method used is descriptive quantitative research. Data collection was carried out using a list of main questions that were used to guide this research, one of which was, "How do teachers respond to the return of the face-to-face system after the pandemic, which requires students to return to school to attend physical education directly?" The data analysis technique used is data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study found one point that represents the response of teachers' perceptions about the advantages and disadvantages of learning activities from their point of view in conceptualizing the offline physical education learning approach by paying attention to identical prevention patterns in the post-pandemic period. The conclusions of this study indicate that teachers have a variety of views that contain elements of strengths and weaknesses in carrying out physical education learning activities with a face-to-face system after spending a long time during the pandemic using an online system. Next, the researcher's suggestion for further research is that a special study can be carried out on how to design a learning approach that is relevant to the post-pandemic conditions of physical education in elementary schools.
