Abstract

Türkiye and Israel as actors in international relations have had a long-standing relationship of ups and downs. At the beginning of his leadership, Erdogan also established cooperation with Israel. However, the Three Weeks Attacks on Palestine and the Mavi Marmara Tragedy have brought relations between the two countries to their lowest point. Finally, Erdogan normalized relations with several conditions that must be met by Israel in 2016. The author intends to find out Erdogan's construct of Islamism in this normalization and the extent of the relationship between the two. This study used descriptive qualitative methods with secondary sources as references. With Constructivism Theory and the Concept of Al-Wala wa Al-Bara from Sayyid Qutb's perspective, this study finds the construct of Islamism in the policy: First, this normalization does not exclude Erdogan from Al-Wala's aqeedah with the limitations of Al-Bara from Sayyid Qutb's perspective; Second, the relationship between Türkiye and Israel does not enter into the realm of aqeedah, but is a matter of akhlaq where Türkiye does not sacrifice its devotion and loyalty because the cooperation between the two countries is in the economic field. In addition, this normalization focuses on Islamic interests in Palestine, especially the struggle towards Baitul Maqdis and humanitarian interests for the people of Gaza; Third, in the normalization policy, Türkiye has a strategy to identify the Islamic community with Strategic Depth and overcome Western hegemony in the region around Türkiye and; Fourth, the implementation of the Al-Wala wa Al-Bara Concept in Turkish foreign policy does not contradict Sayyid Qutb's views on contemporary doctrines such as Nationalism, Patriotism, Humanity, and Secularism. The author then finds that there is a symbiotic relationship between religion and the state as well as the presence of mas'uliyyah in leadership on earth which provides benchmarks or limits for normalization: First, this normalization is limited by Erdogan's Islamic aqeedah with his defense of Palestine and; Second, cooperation between the two countries is established as long as there is a fulfillment of the needs of the Turkish people.

Abstract

China is the largest country in carbon gas emissions in the world, which is because China isthe country that consumes the largest coal in the world as an energy source for power plants.Too large carbon gas emissions will have an impact on global warming and will result inenvironmental damage. China is cooperating with Russia in the construction of a NuclearPower Plant (PLTN) which aims to overcome the problem of global warming in China. Theauthor's aim in the research is to analyze the effectiveness of China's cooperation with Russiathrough the construction of NPP as alternative energy and solutions in overcoming the globalwarming problem that occurs in China. This research uses a qualitative research method thatwill explain the problem and analyze it by looking at scientific studies related to the research. The result of this research is that nuclear power plants are able to effectively overcomeenvironmental problems or global warming that occurs in China. This can be seen from Chinawhich began to experience a slowdown in the amount of carbon gas emissions from 2011 to2021 and China has also experienced a decrease in air pollution since 2013, which originallyPM2.5 in China was 85 micrograms per metercubic and continued to decline until in 2022PM2.5 in China was 30 micrograms per metercubic. This is because China is reducing coalenergy consumption and increasing nuclear energy in power plants.

Abstract

China claims 90% of the area in the South China Sea, including the North Natuna Sea which is owned by Indonesia. As an area that borders other countries and is involved in an ownership dispute with China, violations of sovereignty are prone to occur in this area. In 2016, Chinese fishing boats often committed illegal fishing in the North Natuna Sea. At the peak, KRI Imam Bonjol shot the Han Than Chou ship that was caught spreading nets in Natuna waters. This invited protests from China which were responded to by President Joko Widodo's visit to Natuna and held a meeting to discuss the acceleration of Natuna's development on KRI Imam Bonjol with the ranks of ministers and the TNI Commander and Chief of Police. This research uses qualitative method, to process data from books, journals, articles, scientific papers, and newspapers. From this research, it is found that at least 3 foreign policy measures were adopted by Indonesia to maintain state sovereignty. This step consists of changing the name of the South China Sea region to the North Natuna Sea in a map published in 2017. Then, to strengthen state sovereignty in the North Natuna Sea, the Government mobilized hundreds of North Coast fishermen to go to sea in the Natuna Sea. To enhance the two policies taken, President Joko Widodo issued Presidential Regulation No. 41 of 2022 concerning zoning plans for inter-regional areas in the North Natuna Sea. The emergence of this Perpres is expected to accelerate development programs to strengthen the country's resilience, grow the economy, and preserve nature in Natuna.

Abstract

The exploitation of natural sources in Indonesian waters by foreign-flagged vessels and lacking attention to fishermen communities were two main problems that had to be solved by Susi Pudjiastuti during her service as the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of Indonesia. Various policies, such as sinking vessels and distributing the subsidy to the public need, had already been undertaken. However, these types of policies will be potentially revised along with the regime change. The Integrated Center of Marine and Fisheries or Sentra Kelautan dan Perikanan Terpadu (SKPT) built in several outer islands of Indonesia became an alternative solution for maximizing the supervision and development of the national fishery. On the other hand, this project needs a large amount of budget. Therefore, Susi Pudjiastuti selected foreign aid as an alternative option in realizing the idea, which became the research main topic. Through Rational Choice Theory by Stephen Waltz, this research explains that foreign aid for SKPT had been resulted from Susi's decisions as a rational actor. Several potential actors had been chosen as lobbying targets. Based on various considerations and complexity in Susi's interactions with these actors, Japan was finally considered the most prospective entity. Various approaches later were conducted by MMAF to Japan. As a result, Japan through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) had agreed to assign a grant program to SKPT, and It had been recorded as the foreign aid with the greatest value along the the history of Japan’s aid to Indonesia.

Abstract

The conflict that erupted in Ukraine on February 24, 2022, had a devastating impact on the people caught in the middle of the fighting, especially children. The conflict forced many of them to flee their homes, resulting in a population decline, and exposing them to a range of threats from surrounding countries, including human trafficking, slavery, organ sales, and other forms of exploitation. The primary objective of this research is to examine the role of UNICEF in protecting child victims of war in Ukraine due to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. To achieve this, the study uses a descriptive qualitative method, including data collection through literature reviews, including journals, books, and other related literature. It also applies the concepts of transnational crime and child protection as regional security analysis tools. The study's results reveal that child protection is essential to ensure children's rights are safeguarded, and they can live in a safe and stable environment, free from the dangers of war. To this end, UNICEF has been working closely with other international organizations, such as UNHCR, to provide support to refugee children through the Blue dots program. UNICEF has taken significant steps to mitigate the impact of the conflict on children, including providing emergency assistance, establishing temporary learning centers, and offering psychosocial support.

This Pact raises concern from countries in the area about AUKUS intentions in securing the Indo-Pacific Region, especially with the plan to build a nuclear submarine which has becom e controversial. On the other hand, several countries in the Indo-Pacific Region also face a security dilemma due to the AUKUS Defense Pact, especially China and several ASEAN countries, which feel threatened by the presence of AUKUS. AUKUS has led to China increasing its military activity in response to what it perceives as threats to its country's security. In addition, polemics among countries in the Indo-Pacific Region in response to AUKUS also shows the complexity of the security of the Indo-Pacific Region.
