Abstract

This study is intended to describe form of greeting a child in Banjar-language speech acts that have not been investigated. in fact, through this study will be known to one of the cultural community of Banjar, especially in the family environment. Issues raised (1) how marker form greeting children Banjar language? and (2) how is the realization of children's use of language Banjar greeting speech act ?. Objectives to be achieved adalan to know (1) being marker Banjar language greeting children and (2) actual use of greeting children Banjar language in speech acts? This type of research is descriptive qualitative. Techniques used in data collection and documentation is recording technique. The study concluded Based on survey results revealed that the marker greeting child in Banjar consists of the Child or kid, Tung, Idang, Nang or Sam. Fourth greeting used by gender and there are not. Abstract

Literature teaching aims to act as a tool to carry forward the values of ethics and morals in life. It is also oneof the means for the development of literature which aims to expand literature field as well as to increase literature appreciation, improve the quality of literature, and to excite literature enthusiasts. These can only beachieved with the implementation of literature teaching. Engaging students with literature will increase their appreciation and interests. Through this way, the teacher can enhance the teaching of literature to be better.The growing literature will open up our mind to new experiences or to invite us to organize these experiences with a new way. Moreover, this can be a tool to generate the people’s opinions in the society

Abstract

This paper is aims at describing the development of science fiction, especially novel written by Indonesian Authors 1980s and 2000s. It is based on John Cawelty’s theory of Genre. The sample of science fiction works are Petualangan ke Planet Tau Ceti (The Adventure to the Planet of Tau Ceti) by H. Zubir Mukti, Penjelajahan Antariksa: Bencana di Planet Poa (Outer Space Adventure: disaster in the Planet of Poa), and Sabotase di Bulan (Sabotage Happened in the Moon) by Lia Cyntia. Science fiction works in 2000s are Dewi Lestari’s Supernova: Ksatria, Puteri dan Bintang Jatuh (Supernova: the Knight, The Princess, and the Falling Star), Andrea Hirata’s Laskar Pelangi (The Rainbow Troops), and Eliza V Handayani’s Area X (X Area). The Analysis technique is started from the text itself and then reveals the characteristics in the science fiction novel of Indonesian author in 1980s and 2000s. The result of analysis shows that the characteristics of formula in science fiction novels of Indonesian author in 1980s and 2000s have difference in the terms of theme, background, and plot. in 1980s’ novels, the theme and background mostly are in the outer space. Besides, the plot and characters are ordinary. Meanwhile, science fiction in 2000s, have some variations of theme based on the particular science development, the plot is more about daily life so that the imagination elements are less appear, as well as the complex characters. Therefore, science fiction is still developing. The difference of science fiction formula in 1980s and 2000s proves that to make a science fiction work needs special research and knowledge of the development of particular science which gives effect to the production of the science fiction.

Abstract

As a means of entertaining communication, Humor is usually actualized in many various ways.One of which is text message or better known as SMS (short message service). The forms and structures of humors are quite varied. Many sexual-containing humors are against maxims or principles of politeness. This research used qualitative approach by implementing descriptive method. Results of the research indicate that avoidance of tobbo words in sexual-containing humors sent via text message is against the principles of language politeness.

Language is dynamic, it evolved along with the development of human civilization . This is no exception in the Indonesian language is the national language and unifying the people of Indonesia . Abstract

This article is a study of vowel variation of Malay language in the land of Riau and the Islands of Riau. This is a comparative study which aims to compare given vowels in ane tymon on the first and the second syllable of Malay language in two regions. The results show that Malay vowels in the Island of Riau are more varied than in the Land of Riau: 63% on the second syllable; 37% on the first syllable. Vocals on the second syllable of the islands of Riau and the land of Riau are more than the first vocals. Vocals on the first syllable are [a],[Ù], [u], [o], and [i], while the second syllables are [a]; [o], [e]; [Ù], [], [iya], [i], [u],and [uwa]. as Riau islands has more vocal variations, this region is considered as the center of vocal innovation.

Abstract

Prohibition Sentence is part of the imperative sentence or order sentence.Prohibition speech meaning is expressed in form of negative imperative wrote aja 'do not'. The theory in this research is structural theory.The method of research is distributional method with paraphrasing technique or shape changing or grammatical synonymy, and substitutions. Result shows that prohibition sentence includes (a) the internal structure of prohibition sentence that distinguishes it from other sentence form, (b) the type of constituent that supports realization of prohibition sentence, and (c) argument status on the sfiller constituent of subject function which differentiates one subtype of prohibition sentence with other prohibition sentence subtypes.

Abstract

This research’s purpose to describe type of unparallelism in detail sentence. This research use descriptive method that explain parallelism strategy in details sentence in register written language, like Kompas (February--March 2010), Media Indonesia (February-Maret 2010), magazine BPPT (No. LVIII 2000), and LAN (2000). This research showed that be found unparallelisms in detail sentence. Those unparallelisms can be found in word, phare, and clause. Unparallelisms can make sentence uneffective and ungrammatical. In this research, unparallelisms in detail sentence be changed to parallelisms. For arrive parallelism in details sentence, strategy was done with affixation, activation, or passivity in sentence of detail. Thus, analysis teknical use proces morphology and syntax.

Abstract

Analysis of pragmatic values in the folktale of Sasak tribe named “Tiwoq-Iwoq” which based on some factors there are, the introduction on local literature which has been decrease lately, the existence of the folktale which started to be left on since there are new stories arise and the sink of moral value in young generations. This research aimed at knowing the pragmatic values in Sasak tribe ‘Tiwoq-Iwoq’ folktale. This is a descriptive qualitative research and used library research, documenter, observation, and notes as method of gathering the data. To analyze the research, the researcher uses pragmatic analysis. Based on the analysis it can be concluded that the Sasak Tribe ‘Tiwoq Iwoq’ folktale contains education values such as moral, social, and religious.

Abstract

Pappaseng tomata unifies every individual and becomes the base of norms and regulations through which the values of honesty, courtesy, customs, and manners are taught. This article is expected to bring interest to those who are interested in Literature to preserve and develop the local culture. This research aims to figure out nation characters as reflected in Pappaseng tomatoa (indigenous wise words) by implementing theory of Structuralism and Sociology. The data are obtained through library and field studies. Results indicate some national characters, namely (1) work ethic, (2) persistence, (3) religious obedience, (4) discipline, and (5) wisdom.
