Kantor Bahasa Maluku Utara publishes the journal twice a year: June and December.

Abstract

This is a descriptive qualitative research, which aims to identify the segmental phonemes in Kadai language. The result shows that the segmental phonemes of Kadai language consists of vowels: [a], [i], [u], [e], and [o]; consonants: [b], [c], [d], [f], [g], [h], [j], [k], [ l], [m], [n], [p], [r], [s], [t], [w], and [y]; two varieties of diphthong: up dipthong ([ai], [au], [oi], [ou], [ae], [ao], [eu], and [ei]) and down diphthong ([uo], [ua], [ue], [ia], [io], [ie], [ea], and [oa]); and it is also founded four varieties of vocabulary structure (two syllable, three syllable, four syllable, and five syllable).

Abstract

This study aims to identify the factors causing the extinction of Talai and Padisua Language as well as to find the right model of their preservation. Through the methods of observation and in-depth interview, it is found that there are four primary institutions that help preserve Sahu language: family, society, school, and government. in addition, Talai language and Padisua language have been preserved through their uses in cultural practices and printed on Gospel translated into Sahu language.

Abstract

In gender perspective of Sula language, there is a different form of addressing male and female in nucleus family. This can be seen in the use of second single pronoun mon “you” and gu “you”. This kind of addressing covers the usual dimension or (unequal) and is used by anyone. More dominantly, women use polite addressing (equivalent) when greeting men, as in the word kim “you” referred to singular pronoun and gi “you” referred to plural pronoun. in Sula kinship, the word "kim" and "gi" are considered to be more prestigious in social status and more polite. This study aims to identify the forms of kinship address in nucleus family from the perspective of gender. This is a qualitative research and the technique of collecting data involves the activities of observing, listening, noting, and recording.

Abstract

This is a descriptive analytical research which aims to reveal the basic values of life in Ternate oral tradition (dola bololo, drums proposition, and Moro proposition). The values are assessed through structural and hermeneutic approach. The results indicate that dolabololo reflects fundamental values of (1) generosity; (2) prohibition against hurting others; (3) The man and his world; (4) pluralism. Dalil tifa reflects Islamism, togetherness, affection, humanity and death.

Abstract

This poetry tells about “Bila Tomanurung Balik ke Langit” to understand this poetry semiotic approach is used. Method used is descriptive qualitative research, a research describes its object as it should be. Data collecting of the research uses inventory, reading-observing,and noting technique. Technique of analyzing data used in this research is content analysis which includes identification, classification, analysis, interpretation, description, and confirmation. Results found in this research are description of icon, index, and symbol in poetry. Then, the researcher reads poetry heuristically and hermeneutically. Finally, the researcher finds the theme and relevance of the theme of the poem. The relevance of the theme of the poem with the culture in South Sulawesi is the myth of the Buginese community and public religiosity and relationship with the myths.

Abstract

Human subconscious mind is rich of motivation, creativity, and emotion. If everyone is able to access it, then everyone can utilize their subconscious treasures for various needs and purposes, including education and learning purposes. One of the learning models which includes accessing subconscious mind is hypnoteaching. Hypnoteaching includes 5 complex elements; they are quantum teachinglearning, power teaching, neuro-linguistic programming, accelerated learning, and hypnosis. This shows that without one of these five elements, then the application of hypnoteaching learning model is not effective. Among these five elements, hypnosis is the one part which touches the subconscious mind. in narrative writing (and learning) process, subconscious mind plays a very important role. One of the roles is digging the information or data stored in it, then displaying it visually (mental image) and giving us chance to create and structure them to be a story or a narrative. This article provides information how pure hypnosis (not hypnoteaching) can be utilized in the narrative learning or writing process

Abstract

The study aims to figure out the forms of vowels in Togutil language (BT). The method is qualitative method. The object in this research is vocabulary that contains the vowel phonemes. The primary data of the research are taken through interview with native speakers of Togutil language in Dodaga Village, Tukur-tukur and Titipa village, districk of Wasile, east Halmahera. The result shows there are eight vocals: /a /, /æ/, /i/, /ɛ/, /e/, /u/, /o/, /ɔ/.

Abstract

During this learning Indonesian in class XII IPS SMA Muhammadiyah Ternate not apply constructivism learning and contextual learning. Therefore, they often found sev eral facts in learning activities: (1) the students speak for themselves, (2) some students confused capture the teacher's instructions, (3) some students did not dare ask, (4) a bit of an interaction between students, and (5 ) even students bored and tired of the Indonesian language teaching. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of learning Indonesian students in grade XII IPS SMA Muhammadiyah Ternate through the application of problem-based learning. This study used a qualitative approach. This research is a classroom action research. The results showed that the application of problem-based learning can improve learning outcomes of students of class XII IPS SMA Muhammadiyah Ternate exhibited by the students' ability to express an opinion in the form of criticism and essays.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to describe the forms of interrogative sentences and also the function of interrogative words in constructing interrogative sentence of Kulawi Language (KL). Quantitative method is the method of this research. The result of this research indicated that there were three forms of interrogative sentence in KL and three were seven kinds of interrogative words which have different functions.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the critics on human attitude in fables along with their existence asa critic media in Buginese society. The researcher applies descriptive-qualitative method through electical approach. The techniques of research are identification, note, observation, and analysis. A number of Buginese folklores in a book entitled Sastra Lisan Bugis published by Educational and Cultural Department in 1981 contain the population of research. The research samples are taken purposively as the data. The fables used as data are (1) Buaya dan Kerbau; (2) Pelanduk dan Macan; (3) Putteang dan Karoakkak; and (4) Rusa dan Kura-Kura. Based on the analysis,the researcher found some critics on human attitudes like greed, stupidness, fear, revenge, lie, andarrogance. These attitudes are still found in Buginese society
