Abstract

AbstractOne of the main goals of learning mathematics is to improve mathematical communication skills because these skills are very important for solving various mathematical problems. The mathematical communication skills of students at SMP Muhammadiyah 9 Yogyakarta are still included in the low criteria based on written test results. This research aims to develop Realistic Mathematics Education-based LKPD to improve students' mathematical communication skills. This research is an R&D research using the ADDIE model. The instruments used are validation instruments, student response questionnaires, and pretest and posttest questions. Based on the validity test, the RME-based LKPD is included in the good material category with an average score of 113 and very good in terms of media with an average score of 83. Based on the students' questionnaire, RME-based LKPD is included in the good category with an average score of 54.38, which is practical. Based on the results of the analysis of posttest scores of experimental and control classes, RME-based LKPD is effectively used to improve students' mathematical communication skills.

Abstract

The study focuses on developing a rubric to assess Multiplicative Thinking (MT) in Zambia. Drawing from a quasi experiment with 3rd to 5th grade students from two schools, the study addressed the question: “What rubric can effectively capture the diverse range of students’ responses to multiplication and division problems in Zambia?”. Inductive content analysis was applied to examine, code and categorise students’ responses to tasks involving reading and drawing patterns, commutative property, daily context, and the inverse relation between multiplication and division. The analysis focused on the Multiplicative Structure of responses using the lens of mutual translation between representation modes. The following categories emerged: no answer, incorrect, partially correct, and correct. The rubric aims to bridge the gap between mathematics education research and practical implementation. Additionally, it aligns with Zambian assessment policy, which promotes rubric use for quality assessment.

Abstract

This study aims to produce an Edpuzzle-assisted mathematics e-worksheet that is feasible to improve the grade VII junior high school students’ critical thinking skills in problem-based learning. This study also aims to test the effectiveness of the e-worksheet in improving the critical thinking skills. It was a development research using 4D model (define, design, develop and disseminate). The results of this research show that the Edpuzzle-assisted mathematics e-worksheet is feasible to be used to improve the critical thinking skills of junior high school students in grade VII based on the validation of material experts, media experts, and students' responses. Furthermore, the e-worksheet is effective to improve the critical thinking skills of junior high school students in grade VII based on the results of gain score test with the category of increasing pre-test and post-test by 84.04%.

Abstract

Probability is one of the materials that makes students find it challenging to engage with contextual problems. In fact, the critical thinking ability of students at Junior High School Muhammadiyah 1 Pundong on probability is relatively low; this is shown by the results of tests conducted by researchers. The cause of weak critical thinking is the learning model used by teachers during the learning process, namely the traditional learning model where teaching materials are not available which contain materials and exercises that students can use for independent learning. This research aims to develop an E-worksheet with a scientific approach to improve critical thinking skills. This research is research and development (R&D) using the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) model. The tools used in this research are validation tools from material and media experts, student response tools and pretest questions. Based on the validity test of E-worksheet products based on a scientific approach, it achieved an average of 4 in the competency category for media and 3.83 for material, while E-worksheet had an average of 94.18 in student responses in convenient terms. Based on the results of the comparative analysis of the averages presented, random E-worksheet material based on a scientific approach is effectively used in developing students' critical skills. Improving learning outcomes is supported by several features contained in the E-worksheet application. However, there are obstacles to using applications that are only used on Android phones rather than on other types of smartphones. However, this does not become an obstacle to the learning process.

Abstract

This study discusses the low mathematical literacy skills of students at Junior High School IT Al-Izzah Sorong City, particularly in the area of data presentation. The causes are attributed to ineffective conventional teaching methods and inadequate teaching materials. The research aims to develop a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) e-module to enhance mathematical literacy skills. Through the Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, the study produced an e-module validated for both media and content. Students' response to the e-module was highly positive, indicating a high level of comfort. Analysis showed that the PBL-based e-module effectively improves students' mathematical literacy skills. Despite limitations in access to Android devices, it did not hinder the learning process.

Abstract

This research developed e-worksheet based on Problem Based Learning (PBL) to improve the problem-solving abilities of grade VIII students. The development method uses the ADDIE model, with validation instruments, student responses, as well as pretest and posttest. The validation results show a high level of validity of the e-worksheet. Student responses to E-worksheet are also positive. Pretest and posttest analysis showed a significant increase in problem solving abilities. However, this increase is still limited due to time constraints.

Abstract

One of the mathematics learning materials in class VIII, namely the system of linear equations in two variables, does not meet learning standards. One of the causes of students' critical thinking skills not being optimal is the lack of students' desire to ask questions. From the results of the pretest given by researchers to students, it appears that there are several errors in the system of linear equations in two variables equation material, namely that students are not able to model problems in mathematical form, students are also less capable. cannot fully apply the system of linear equations in two variables method. This research aims to develop an e-worksheet based on Problem Based Learning (PBL) to enhance students' critical thinking skills. Based on the validity test, e- worksheet with a valid PBL model is used for learning with an average material score of 4.53 and an average media score of 3.808. E-worksheets with the PBL model are said to be practical to use in the learning process based on an average student response of 4.134.
