This research paper investigated the effectiveness of an Experiential Learning (EL) intervention on the English-speaking skills of kindergarten teachers at TK PAPB Semarang. Using a one-group pretest-posttest design with six teachers, the research assessed skills in pronunciation, intonation, fluency, and accuracy. Results showed a statistically significant improvement in overall speaking competence, with post-test scores increasing by an average of five points (p = 0.010). This confirms the EL approach, which utilized role-plays and simulations, was effective in enhancing teacher performance. However, high standard deviations in post-test scores, especially for pronunciation, indicated that significant ability disparities among participants persisted. The study concludes that while EL is a valuable strategy, future interventions should integrate more personalized, differentiated instruction to address the needs of heterogeneous learner groups.

AbstractEffective English and safe communication are crucial within the aviation industry. This study aims to explore English instructorsâ€™ perceptions and practices regarding the integrative skills approach in teaching English to Lion Group staff in the field of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering. Adopting a qualitative case study design, the research involved three instructors who were purposively selected for their reported implementation of the integrative skills approach in their teaching. Data were collected through interviews, classroom observations, and documentation, then analysed using thematic analysis. The findings reveal that the instructors hold positive perceptions of the integrative skills approach, believing that it effectively enhances learnersâ€™ English proficiency. They emphasised that the approach increases student engagement and motivation and provides a more holistic learning experience. However, the instructors also noted that its success largely depends on teachersâ€™ preparedness and studentsâ€™ readiness. In practice, they implemented structured pedagogical frameworks, such as the six-stage model (lead-in, meaning-focused input, language-focused learning, meaning-focused output, feedback and assessment, and follow-up activities), employed authentic materials, and incorporated reflective learning components. In conclusion, the integrative skills approach is perceived as an effective method for developing English proficiency and communicative competence in aviation contexts for Aircraft Maintenance Engineering.Â .

A classic problem in EFL speaking classes was students’ motivation for classroom engagement in speaking activities. To overcome the problem, the researcher proposed ice-breaking activities to reduce psychological boundaries. The aim of this research was to prove whether or not ice-breaking activities were able to improve students’ motivation, which directly influenced their speaking skill. This was empirical design research with a mixed method approach. The sample was taken by random sampling, which involved the first semester class of the English department program, containing of 23 students. The result was unpredictable since the improvement was not only occur in test score (10,38 points or 14,6%), but also questionnaire (4,18 points or 12,23%), and observation in phase 1 to phase 2 which showed students’ behavioural improvement from negative (Shy, silent, talking to friends, etc.) to positive (Speak louder, pay attention, asking question, etc.). This research led to the conclusion that ice-breaking activity could strengthened students’ motivation, improved oral fluency, and reduced affective obstacle.

Vocational students often struggle with technical English vocabulary, which highlights the need for a more effective, technology-based learning approach. This study investigates the effectiveness of an AI-based vocabulary learning platform (Qwen AI) in improving English vocabulary mastery among tenth-grade students in vocational education. The research was conducted at SMK N 2 Yogyakarta with 72 participants (36 in the experimental group, 36 in the control group) enrolled in the Visual Communication Design (Desain Komunikasi Visual) program during the second semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. Using a quasi-experimental design, the experimental group received instruction through the Qwen AI Platform while the control group received conventional instruction. Pre-test and post-test measurements assessed vocabulary mastery across three dimensions: meaning, form, and use in context. The results demonstrated that the experimental group achieved a mean gain of 11 points (from 85 to 96), higher than the control group's gain of 4 points (from 94 to 98). The most notable improvement was found in students' ability to use vocabulary appropriately within vocational contexts, which rose by 23 percentage points (from 75% to 98%). This finding suggests that the platform's contextual, scenario-based exercises were particularly effective in helping students apply technical vocabulary in authentic situations. The Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test (p = 0.000) confirmed the statistical significance of these improvements. The findings indicate that AI-based adaptive vocabulary platforms can effectively enhance vocational students' English proficiency, particularly in the contextual application of technical terminology relevant to their professional fields. This study contributes to the evidence base supporting technology-integrated language instruction aligned with the principles of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) in vocational education.
