It also provides practice and policy based implications in the relevant contexts of science education. Published biannualy, the journal employs a rigorous peer review process. We do not accept manuscripts which are not easily understandable in English or do not address our major focus.

Abstract

This study aims to increase student creativity through the use of used-goods or plastics as an alternative medium for measuring instruments. The management of used-goods from the environment can be used as a learning medium that can trigger the creativity of students in learning and learning activities. The used items used are paper, cardboard, and single-use food packaging plastic. The study involved class VII C students of Muhammadiyah 2 Mlati Junior High School as the subject of the study determined through purposive random sampling techniques. Data collection techniques use triangulation techniques, namely observation, interviews, and questionnaires/ questionnaires. The data were analyzed quantitative-triangulation with a descriptive approach. The stages of analysis include data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The results showed that there was an increase in the creativity of class VII C students with the number of students in the Excellent category (10%) and the Good category (84%). Thus, the use of used-things is effective as one of the alternative media to increase student creativity

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out and classify what are the obstacles for teachers with an integrated non-science educational background in teaching science at SMP Negeri 1 Bonorowo for the 2020/2021 academic year. This research is a qualitative descriptive study with the research subjects of three teachers of science subjects. Data collection techniques using questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. Data validity uses triangulation of data collection techniques, audit trails, and direct data collection by researchers. The validity of the instrument uses the validity of the language. The data analysis used is the Miles and Huberman model. The results of the study show that the obstacle for teachers with an integrated non-science educational background in teaching science at SMP Negeri 1 Bonorowo for the academic year 2020/2021 is a component in learning planning, namely an indicator component in the form of sentence composition. The components in the implementation of learning are the teacher component in the form of teacher educational background and a sense of laziness, the student component in the form of the special character of the student, the curiosity to ask questions, and the ability to analyze, the component of the learning material in the form of material that is not the teacher's educational background, the method and model components ( strategy) learning in the form of running out of time and adjusting learning methods and models, as well as facilities and infrastructure components in the form of a science laboratory shortage.

Abstract

In science learning, it is necessary to emphasize learning that refers to direct experience so that it can provide space for students to develop the ability to think, work and act scientifically in an integrated manner. The problem found at this time is the lack of motivation in students so that it has an impact on learning outcomes. One solution to overcome these problems is to use a learning model that can improve students' abilities and motivation. The PjBL model provides opportunities for teachers to manage learning in class by involving project work (activities), so students will be trained to have good thinking skills and generate motivation in students. This study aims to examine the use of project based learning learning models in science learning to improve students' abilities and motivation. The research method used is systematic literature review. The data used in this study were obtained from previous research, in the form of articles related to the Project Based Learning learning model. The results of the research by analyzing several articles show that the use of the Project Based Learning learning model in science learning can improve students' abilities and motivation in learning.

Abstract

Scientific literacy is an ability that students must have. Selection of the right module can improve scientific literacy skills. This study aims to analyze the effect and effectiveness of using electronic modules with an ethnoscience approach to increasing scientific literacy skills. The research used a quasi-experimental study with 64 research subjects in class VIII C as the experimental class and VIII D as the control class at SMP Negeri 1 Limbangan 2022/2023 academic year. Analysis of the effect of using electronic modules with an ethnoscience approach with the independent sample t-test formula on the posttest obtained tcount = 2.379> ttable (1.999) with sig(2-tailed) = 0.02 <0.05, so that there are differences in the test scores of the experimental class higher than the control class. The increase in scientific literacy skills after using an electronic module with an ethnoscience approach was analyzed using the N-Gain test in the experimental class, it was found that 0.396 was in the medium category and 0.217 in the control class was in the low category. So it can be concluded that the electronic module with an ethnoscience approach has an effect and can improve students' scientific literacy skills.

Abstract

21st century learning emphasizes the integration of technology and communication (ICT) in teaching and learning activities. The use of ICT is able to support the learning process. Based on the results of interviews at SMPN 1 Pucakwangi, cognitive learning outcomes were still low due to the use of inappropriate learning models and students' lack of understanding of the subject matter. In addition, students' digital literacy is still low due to the lack of application of technology in learning activities. This study aims to analyze students' cognitive abilities and digital literacy using the TPACK-based CUPs learning model. This research method is a quasy experiment using the pretest-posttest control group design method. The results showed that the gain in the experimental class was higher than the control class by 0.712. The results of the effect test using the Independent Sample t-test found a significant difference after treatment with t count > t table of 2.2103 which indicates that there is an effect of using the TPACK-based CUPs learning model on cognitive learning outcomes. Questionnaire data experienced an increase in the average value of digital literacy in the experimental class 81.02, which was greater than the control class. The results of the influence test on the second hypothesis obtained a t count > t table of 2.00452 so that there was a significant difference after treatment.
