Abstract

This class action research aims at overcoming the problems in learning place value in mathematics and improving the student’s learning achievement. This action research was conducted in grade 3 of Government Primacy School, Jati 03 (Morning), East Jakarta. The research model adopted Kemmis and Mc Taggart’s with four steps (Planning, Implementation, Observation, and Reflection). Within three cycles, it was discovered the effectiveness of teaching aids in improving the student’s learning achievement in studying place value in mathematics.

Abstract

The student centered learning is the learning method that activates the students and could be carried out by applying active, creative, effective, and joyfull learning (PAKEM). This qualitative research aims of findings out PAKEM is in implemented at four elementary schools in Bali and Central Java provinces. The research was carried out from February to October 2007, concludes: (1) a lot of conventional approach (teacher-centered) are still practical in the classroom; (2) the classroom situations doesn’t reflect any active, creative, effective, joyfull learning (PAKEM) characteristics; (3) none of student’s work show up on the classroom wall; (4) the classroom is not fully explored to be a learning resource; and (5) instructional methods use are dominated by the teacher. In addition it is also important to know that the learning process doesn’t take benefit of the existing facilities with in this situation, the group study, self study, and the problem based learning are not practised optimally neither the use of classs paces as the source of learning. More over, the methods being used were toll the one way instructional mode. It was also important to be mentioned that there were no usage of the sourrounding atmosphere as the leasy source. The optimalization of the group study, self study and the problem based learning hadn’t been achieved yet.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the differences in learning achievement in English between the students who receives Block Grant and who don’t. This study was conducted in 2005 at Jakarta Public Senior Highschools which received Block Grant Welfare Program and Jakarta Public Senior Highschools which didn’t receive Block Grant Welfare Program in 2003, located in East, Central, and North Jakarta. This study used Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) with additional approach Tuckey Test at á=0,05, and used expost facto and a 2x2 factorial design. The result of hypotheses testing shows that: first, in overall, there is a significant difference found between English achievement of student who received Block Grant and who didn’t receive Block Grant. Second, there is an interaction between enteryng behaviors and Block Grant Welfare Program to the students’ achievement in English.

Abstract

This empirical study on the quality of guidance and consoling instrument (AUM U2) aims at this closing the validity and reliability of the instrument use in government high school in is Jakarta. This study is also expected will be able to give contribution in improving the instrument to be a standard instrument. The finding shows that although the instrument (AUM U2) has a good validity and reliability, same weakness still have to be tackled, for which this study provide some recommendation.

Abstract

Assuming that the leacture’s ability to make innovation in the instructional activities can improve both the quality of instructional process and the quality of the student’s learning achievement, this research was conducted to describe the the innovative activities performed by the lecturers in Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD) of School of Education, State University of Jakarta. The research conducted in the odd semester of the academic year 2007/2008, randomly selected 30 lectures of the Department as the respondents. From the data collected using questionair and analysed descriptively, the research concludes based on their teachng experience, the lectures with more than 15 years’ teaching experience are more innovative than those with less experience.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to discover the attitude of the students of special education program at School of Education, State University of Jakarta towards the development of social skills of the students with intellectual skills through inclusive education. This research conducted in the academic year of 2006/2007 used closed questionnaire with Likert Scale, for the sample 30 students were selected purposively. The findings show that the students’ attitude in ranged between positive and negative.

Abstract

This research is intended to get empirical data on elementary school teacher’s attitude towards children with special needs in the elementary school, DKI Jakarta. The research was held at the department of PGSD (Elementary School Teacher Education), Setia Budi Campus, School of Education of Jakarta (FIP- UNJ), selected sample randomly. The random sample 105 are elementary school teacher doing undergraduate program in basic education. The result shows that teacher’s attitude toward student with special needs have the acceptance limit score for 81.25. This means that any score above the limit score is categorized as positive attitude and score below the limit score is considered as negative attitude. On the cognition aspect, the score is 37.92 meaning teachers have negative attitude towards children with special needs. The score for affection and conation aspect are 26.92 meaning negative attitude too. For the theoretical aspect, the maximum score is 150 whereas the minimum score is 50. Research analysis shows that the maximum empirical score is 146 with the minimum of 88. The average score is 120 meaning that elementary school teachers have positive attitude towards children with special needs.

Abstract

The information about Early Childhood Education alumni and their career’s development can give input to the Head of Department to develop the department. Research findings describe that Early Childhood Education alumni have quite good GPA, generally above 3,00 and the unemployment period of 3 months. Besides, approximately 92% respondents work on the basis of their competencies. Almost all of them work as lecturers and teachers in the fields related to Early Childhood Education.

Abstract

Community participation is very important to achieve the objectives of any training or learning process. This qualitative research was conducted in the Center for Teavhing and Learning Activities (PKBM) in Rawasari, Jakarta, aiming at discovering the strategy applied in the Center. Based on the data collected and analysed, this research finds out notable progress achieved, but the the Center has not implemented wholistic strategy. Beside identifying some problems, this research provides a set of recommendation related to improving the exisiting strategy to empower the communitythrough productive competence.

Abstract

The goals of this research were to get information and data on the management and implementation of library in Early Childhood Education Program, Faculty of Education, State University of Jakarta; to exploring the factors that supports the management of libraries in Early Childhood Education Program; and to improve the effectiveness of the library as a learning resource for lecturers and students in Department of Early Childhood Education. The research used descriptive qualitative research method. The results of research indicates that to improve management of the library and the effectiveness of as a learning resource for lecturers and students can get by providing good services to the user. The library services can be done well if supported by all elements of the library such as collections, facilities, professional staff, and awareness of users to use a library. Some improvement at managerial should be done. Thus, the library of Department can act more effectively as a source of learning for lecturers and students of Department of Early Childhood Education, Faculty of Education, State University of Jakarta.
