Abstract

It is well known that in Surah Yâsin, there are several discussions, one of which is the discussion on eschatology. This research was conducted to make it easier to know and review the eschatology in surah Yâsin. The researcher chose Hamâmî Zâdah as the object of his book entitled Tafsîr Surah Yâsin because he is a modern Muslim scholar (12 H.) who has talked a lot about eschatology, but not much is highlighted it. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytic approach, which in the end, the researcher can conclude that the eschatological points in the Interpretation of Surah Yâsin written by Hamâmî Zâdah include; blowing of the trumpet, resurrection after death, mahshar, hisâb, handing over of charity books, mîzân, shirath, heaven, hell and the existence (condition) of people who are in heaven or hell. This study of eschatology serves as material for reflection on the metaphysics of the afterlife and motivation and education for all of us to live a better life and adequately prepare for the next life.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between religion and altruism, namely the relationship between the religious attitudes of members of the Posko community and volunteers throughout the city of Surabaya in helping the community. Attitudes possessed by every human being must be different, not a few humans who have a voluntary attitude, are generous, like to help and have a human spirit. As a volunteer who helps in a particular service or organization without wanting or involving money in return for his work. The research method in this article uses a descriptive qualitative analysis approach. By using the literature, observation and interviews are the main components of the preparation of this research. With the attitude of religiosity, volunteers are increasingly convinced that what they are doing is good and God likes good things. Because it is a form of attention that someone has with the aim of increasing helping others without being selfish. Volunteer actions are closely related to religious elements and altruism as human nature, so the urge to take part in humanitarian action grows by itself. The results showed that there was a positive relationship between the religiosity and altruism of the posko community members and volunteers throughout the city of Surabaya in their contribution to helping the community, which means that the higher the religiosity the higher the human spirit, religiosity contributes effectively to the attitudes of community members.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the increasing number of divorces and cases of domestic violence in Indonesia. So this study aims to determine the quality of the hadith regarding gentleness in the household as a sign of goodness and understand its meaning with a psychological approach. This research uses a qualitative method with the type of literature study, the problems in this study are examined using a takhrij approach and the meaning of hadith within the scope of psychological discussion. The results obtained from this study are the first, the quality of the hadith about gentleness in the family is a sign of this goodness of valid quality (H.R Ahmad Number 24.427), this is illustrated by the results of takhrij conducted. Hadith sanad is continued and has fair and strong memorization of narrators, then the hadiths also do not conflict with the Qur'an, other traditions, reason, facts, and history. secondly, the meaning of this hadith when viewed from a psychological review is in line with the existing hadith, that gentleness is one of the characteristics of someone who has a meaningful personal life and this leads him to the gate of happiness. Thus, a gentle attitude both in the view of Islam and psychology is something that brings goodness and avoids a person from the negative impacts that occur due to communication that prioritizes the ego, especially in married relationships.

Abstract

Religion fosters diversity and gives rise to religious phenomena in society, which are inseparable from the influence of surrounding realities, including the work environment, such as that of market traders. As spiritual beings, they are obligated to fulfill divine commands. Observing their religious practices offers insight into the emergence of these phenomena. This study employs field research with a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing a phenomenological perspective on religion. Traders view their efforts as a means of receiving sustenance, yet they believe that sustenance is not solely determined by their endeavors but also by Allah’s decree. Therefore, while conducting business, traders consistently pray and nurture their relationship with Allah. In their daily lives, some traders at Senaken Market leave their stalls to perform obligatory prayers (salat fard) at the market prayer room. During trading hours, they engage in practices such as dhikr (remembrance of Allah), reciting prayers, and giving charity. Additionally, some traders form groups to conduct regular religious activities weekly or during Islamic holidays. These activities help enhance their religious understanding, draw them closer to Allah, and strengthen the bonds of friendship among Senaken Market traders.

Abstract

This study investigates the practice of da’wah (Islamic propagation) on social media in southwestern Nigeria, focusing specifically on Facebook. While previous research has examined da’wah through traditional media, little attention has been given to the emerging role of social media networks. Using historical, descriptive, and analytical methods, the research explores the challenges associated with da’wah on social media in Yorubaland, highlighting the absence of regulation in the new media. This lack of regulation has allowed unqualified and unprofessional da’wah presenters to flourish, resulting in controversial content and unguarded behavior. The study reveals that many renowned scholars and ducats in the six southwestern states of Nigeria have embraced social media, particularly Facebook, as an effective platform for disseminating their da’wah activities to a virtual audience. To ensure organized and result-oriented da’wah in the cyberspace of southwestern Nigeria, the research recommends the establishment of a regulatory framework to address the excesses of virtual du’at.

Abstract

At the beginning of the decade of the 3rd millennium, starting from 2005, the development of the Al-Qur'an mushaf in Indonesia experienced striking innovation. Different from the previous era, in this one many the Al-Qur'an mushafs have emerged with colored displays, such as cover designs, illuminations, paper, writing, verse blocks, and variations in its content. Apart from being supported by advanced computerization of the mushaf, another main factor is the changing tastes of the Indonesian Muslim community. This raises the question, how Islamic law's view of addressing this phenomenon, and how the colored mushaf model is seen from the perspective of religious commodification. By using descriptive-qualitative methods and a sociological-historical approach, this paper wants to answer the problem. The majority of Muslim scholars from moderate circles, such as Imam An-Nawawi and the Egyptian Fatwa Institute, allow the colored mushaf with the aim of providing information on the law of reading in its mushaf and increasing motivation to always read it. Meanwhile, textualist-normative scholars tend to prohibit the mushaf that is decorated or colored with hadith evidence. The widespread circulation of the colored mushaf, if analyzed based on the theory of religious commodification, has at least three elements: First, profit; The business of selling the Qur'anic mushaf always looks at market share that can promise financial profits. Second, knowledge transfer; every expression, idea, symbol can be transformed to other people in concrete form through a product that can be enjoyed or sold. Third, ideology; The Qur'anic mushaf printing industry has formed a commodity in Islam which contains certain religious understandings so that these understandings develop and become real.

Abstract

This article examines the Batatamba tradition among the Banjar community in Kalimantan, focusing on its mantras, mediums, rituals, and continuity. The Banjar community is known for its strong connection to Sufi traditions, which are notably inclusive of local customs. One such local tradition is Batatamba, which seeks to integrate religious language with indigenous culture. The article employs an anthropological approach to analyze the cultural aspects of this tradition, treating them as central to the study. The choice of an anthropological perspective allows for a deeper exploration of the interaction between cultural and religious elements within the Batatamba practice. The findings indicate that Banjar Islam has emerged from a process of acculturation, blending Islamic teachings with various local traditions, religions, and beliefs, a process that is especially evident in the Batatamba tradition. This integration can be observed in practices such as the recitation of mantras that combine Quranic verses with local invocations, or the incorporation of the Islamic declaration "laa ilaha illallah muhammad rasulullah" at the end of local mantras. In a predominantly Islamic community, Batatamba—a form of traditional healing—continues to thrive, despite the dominance of modern medicine. Traditional healing practices are often linked to local communities, while modern medicine is more associated with purist groups aiming to ‘purify’ Islamic teachings and diminish the role of local traditions within the broader Islamic framework.

Abstract

In the last decade, archery has emerged as a distinct trend within the Muslim community of South Kalimantan. It has transcended its status as merely a sport to become a hobby that intertwines with religious discourse, particularly through the narrative of 'nyunnah'. This research aims to explore the dynamics of the archery community among Muslims in South Kalimantan amidst this 'nyunnah' narrative. Utilising a phenomenological approach, data collection was conducted through three primary methods in-depth interviews with members of the Muslim archery community, participatory observation in the field by engaging in various archery activities, and documentation of religious symbols employed, patterns of interaction among members, and the community's adaptation to various challenges. The findings indicate that the Muslim archery community in South Kalimantan is predominantly composed of urban middle-class Muslims, who serve as the principal actors in promoting archery. For this group, archery represents a manifestation and adaptation of religious values. The activity of archery has subsequently evolved to form both personal and collective identities that reflect a contemporary Muslim lifestyle. This phenomenon of archery provides significant insights within the context of contemporary Islamic studies, particularly in understanding the relationship between religion and popular culture.
