Abstract

Tafsr Muḥammad bin Ṣāliḥ al-’Uthaimīn not only produces a methodological implementation, but also has implications for socio-religious construction that raises issues of radicalism. This study aims to examine the elements of radicalism contained in Tafsr Muḥammad bin Ṣāliḥ al-’Uthaimīn. By using the descriptive-bibliographic method, this study maps the elements of radicalism in Tafsr Muḥammad bin Ṣāliḥ al-’Uthaimīn included in the concept of diversity and the concept of da’wah. This study shows that Tafsr Muḥammad bin Ṣāliḥ al-’Uthaimīn claims that his religious concept is the only form of the most correct and safe model. In the social sphere, Uthaimīn carries the concept of al-Walā’ (loyalty) giving the impression that Muslims should be united, close and help each other with one another, but not with infidel groups. Then in conceptualizing al-Barā’ (rejection), al-’Uthaimīn considers that other religious communities should be shunned even under certain conditions they can be fought; diversity of Muḥammad bin Ṣāliḥ al-'Uthaimīn intolerant in the theological-ritual realm. While his views on jihad, al-’Uthaimīn classifies jihad into several levels, including fighting people of other religions.

Abstract

Before the arrival of the shahīh al-Bukhārī and shahīh Muslim, the Muslim people were more familiar with the kitab al-Muwaththa Imam Mālik. Kitab al-Muwaththa’ is a book that contains the Hadith and fiqh of the Mālic imam school. The Kitab al-Muwaththa’ is known as a book that contains many mursal hadiths. Many scholars after the death of imam Mālik tried to give commentary to the kitab al-Muwaththa’ according to their respective scientific backgrounds. Some give commentary in terms of hadith science, some give commentary from fiqh, and some try to propose hadiths in it that are considered unconnected. One of the hadith scholars who took part in giving syarah to this book was Syekh Muhammad Zakariyyā al-Kāndahlawiyy (1315-1402H/1898-1982). He is a 20th-century hadith scholar who is often a reference for Muslim scholars. One of his works that many Muslim scholars study is Awjaz al-Masālik Ilā Muwaththa' Mālik which is the syarah of the kitab al-Muwathta’. This study discusses the method of Muhammad Zakariyyā al-Kāndahlawiyy when interacting with hadiths that are considered mursal. This study is a literature study and uses a document analysis method with the help of ATLAS.ti software version 9.1.5.0. The results of this Study found that when Muhammad Zakariyyā al-Kāndahlawiyy interacted with the mursal hadith in the book of Awjaz al-Masālik Ilā Muwaththa' Mālik, he mentioned the status of the hadith if mursal, mentioned the cause of mursal, mentioned the reinforcing hadith of mursal hadith; if there is no reinforcement in other hadith books then he put fatwa the opinion of scholars. In general, he combines the methods of hadith scholars and fiqh scholars so that the hadiths that originally had mursal status can be used in the hadith and its fiqh.

Abstract

This study focuses on analyzing the story of the prophet Musa and the prophet Khidir in Q.S. al-Kahfī [18]: 60-82. The aim is to uncover and discover the branches of disciplines that are integrated in it, both general science and religious science. This is important in order to understand a story in the Qur'an holistically and comprehensively. The approach used in this study is a qualitative approach using library research and data analysis using content analysis methods. The results of this study indicate that the story of the prophet Musa and the prophet Khidir contains several integrated scientific disciplines. For example, when the prophet Khidir made the decision to leak the boat, he had considered the risks he faced. First, if the boat is not leaked it will be confiscated and will never be returned so that the boat owner loses his job. Second, if the boat is leaked then the boat is damaged. Both of these decisions have risks, but the prophet Khidir took a less risky decision, which was to leak the boat. In this story there are disciplines that are integrated in it, namely Management science which is illustrated by two points, namely; decision making and risk management. In addition, the author also identifies the existence of various other disciplines such as; Sufism, psychology, education and logic.

Abstract

This study is the thought of Mohammad Hashim Kamali in the science of hadith which is contained in the book A Textbook of Hadith Studies. This research aims to provide an overview of the critical methodology and criteria for the science of hadith, as well as to try to verify the accuracy of the text and the authenticity of the hadith. This research uses a qualitative research approach with the type of library research and historical research. The results of the study state that Kamali's thoughts only provide a glimpse of the efforts of the scholars and hadith scholars to verify the authenticity of the Prophet's hadith. The wealth of scientific works on the methodology of hadith science and the efforts made to compile many works on hadith cover the history of Islamic scholarship. The classification of hadith literature is divided into ten titles. The authors of this work apply certain critical principles, examine the value, advantages and disadvantages of the hadiths they collect, discuss the reliability of the narrators, and explain rare traditions, then examine these works by considering them to be reliable as the main criteria of guidance for narrators hadith. The number of overlapping biographies of hadith bearers is a sign of falsification of hadith. The falsification of hadith should be condemned regardless of any subject.

Abstract

Water is an essential need for human life and all living things. The community's high demand for water cannot be met because the water crisis is still happening today. A water crisis can be in terms of quantity and quality. This research aims to find the solutions in the Qur'anic and scientific perspective to solve the problem of water quantity and quality crisis in the Qur'anic perspective. This research uses thematic interpretation method (maudhû'î) with scientific interpretation approach. This research concludes water crisis solutions in terms of quantity and quality. The water quantity crisis solutions are divided into two major points. First, optimization of water management (Q.S. al-Ra'd/13: 17) which can be done through saving water (Q.S. al-Isrâ`/17: 26-27, Q.S. al-A'râf/7: 31) and making waterways or drainage (Q.S. Hûd/11: 44). Second, even water distribution (Q.S. al-Qamar/54: 28, Q.S. al-Baqarah/2: 60. Q.S. al-A'râf/7: 160) through the creation of water distribution reservoirs (Q.S. al-Zumar/39: 21) and prohibition of water privatization (Q.S. al-Hijr/15: 22). Meanwhile, the water quality crisis solutions are implied in the Qur'an and supported by scientific theory in five respects. First, reforestation (Q.S. al-An'âm/6: 99 and 141, Q.S. al Ra'd/13: 4, and Q.S. al-Nahl/16: 10-11). Second, watersheds conservation (Q.S. Hûd/11: 61). Third, controlling water pollution (Q.S. al-Ghâsyiyah/88: 12). Fourth, making biopore infiltration holes (Q.S. al-Rûm/30: 41, Q.S. Hûd/11: 37). Fifth, making rainwater harvesting (Q.S. al-Mu'minûn/23: 18).

Abstract

Following the changing status of many State Islamic Institutes of Islamic Studies into State Islamic Universities in Indonesia, the integration of Islam and science as the fundamental epistemological basis should be done, and its implementation has been characterized by attempts to interpret the Qur`an in the light of scientific perspective (al-tafsīr al-‘ilmī, scientific interpretation). This article is aimed to analyze thoughts on methods of this interpretation in the State Islamic University of Maliki (Malang) from Ian Barbour’s classification of modes of religion-science integration into the natural theology, the theology of nature, and philosophy of proccess. This article concludes that this university develops the theology of nature in the sense that the Qur`an through its paradigm and spirit is regarded to contain verses that explain many aspects of science. The “Qur`anic paradigm” constitutes a world-view that, as percieved, unifies many schools of thought and approach. Meanwhile, the “Qur`anic spirit” is moral teaching of the Qur`an that can be functioned as psychological explanations and solutions of human’s conditions.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyze the growth of radicalism, peacebuilding, and the role of inter-religious dialogue in Papua from a broader perspective. This paper argues that the Religious Harmony Forum (FKUB) and the Religious Leaders Communication Forum (FKPPA) have succeeded in maintaining harmony in Papua. However, the threat of religious radicalism remains an issue in the complexity of the political conflicts that occur. The Harmony Integrity Zone model in Jayapura district is an effort of inter-religious dialogue that is good enough to be replicated with modifications in other places. This paper is the result of a desk-study to fill the academic gap in transnational Islamic studies in the Land of Papua, a study that has not been explicated by researchers in the past.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the process of stone-burning culture for the Papuan Muslim Mountain community in the city of Jayapura where the process is carried out by making pigs as game animals to be burned in stone-burning culture. This research is a qualitative descriptive study, which tries to describe objectively and accurately about the tradition of burning stones in the Muslim highlands of Papua. Conducting interviews with informants who have lived in high-rise areas in the city of Jayapura. The results of this study indicate that the culture of burning stones in the Muslim Papuan community is carried out as a form of gratitude for the gift from God for this gift. Burning stones is done by stacking chicken and meat as the main dishes on a stone that has been burned first, then sweet potatoes, cassava, and vegetables in the next section. At the last or the very top will be given a stone that has been burned. In the implementation of this stone burning is carried out by the people of Papua in the central mountains who are Muslim, especially those who live in the city of Jayapura. This activity has been carried out since the second generation of mountainous Papua converted to Islam where the meat that is burned is chicken as a substitute for pork which is an animal that will be burned in stone-burning cultural activities. Islam has brought about a change in the Papuan Muslim Mountain community living in Jayapura. However, the residents until now still maintain their ancestral customs. Traditions that are still valid and preserved in the Bakar Batu tradition.

Abstract

Belief, as part of human life, is part of the fundamental rights. However, the increasing number and variety of existing beliefs impact the emergence of standardized beliefs that deserve to be categorized as religion. This paper discusses how one of the original beliefs of the people of Kalimantan, namely kaharingan, cannot be considered a religion because various religious standards hamper it. This paper finds that standardization which begins with the notion of religion, according to EB Taylor, has an impact on a belief that must meet several conditions, such as belief in God, holy scriptures, carriers of religion or prophets, and others. The standardization impacts Kaharingan as a belief that can only be said as a "aliran kepercayaan," not a religion in Indonesia. The rise and fall of the relationship between local religion and the state that occurred during the New Order era and reforms were more or less influenced by this paradigm.
