Abstract

Indonesian Migrant Workers are Indonesian workers who work abroad. They must leave Indonesia at a productive age, by leaving various social problems to bear the burden of solving family economic problems and providing foreign exchange for the country. These foreign exchange heroes in the country where they work are seen as tools to get work done, and not as human beings who need privacy, protection, respect and other human needs. This view has caused many problems, both psychological and social problems that have not been resolved until now, especially for migrant workers who work in the domestic sector, as happened to Marruni, a character of migrant worker in the novel of Sumayyah by NizarAbadzah. Abadzah is seen as a character who comes from the country that uses migrant workers’ services. This study is needed to understand the root problems that have been faced by Indonesian Workers who working in the Middle East. This study aims to find out author’s world view Marruni, the character of Indonesian Migrant Worker in the Novel of Sumayyah by using the theory of genetic structuralism.

Abstract

The revolutions in the Arab World  such as Egypt, Tunisia, Marocco, Libya, Syriaand Yemen have affected  political  landscapes  in the Middle East countries. Revolutionsin the MENA countries  have broken up relations between the Arab World and the US.The revolutions also have paved the way for Islamic groups to put  political pressures totake power . Moreover, the Arab Spring have the influence over changes in the UnitedStates foreign policy  in Middle East. But, up to now,  it is not  clear that the revolution in the Middle East in 2011 is agreat opportunity for the U.S. to increase its role in countries. It's not  clear too,  whetheror not  it also a new opportunity for the U.S. to establish strategic alliances in ArabicWorld. While  Washington was surprised by the fall of the regimes of Egypt and Tunisia, for instance, there is  uncertainty  that the two countries  would be the new alliances ofthe US in the near future.  America has lost its loyalists  such as former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarakand Ben Ali, Tunis. But at the same time, the proximity of the the US-Gulf alliances isincreasing, especially with  Saudi Arabia,Bahrain, Kuwait  and Qatar . Washington for awhile is  still groping, if not frenzy, in rebuilding  the present relationship with the MiddleEast, as long as the MENA countries  are still in the era of transition. The U.S  and theWest are aware about  that  problem, and they  understand  that  in the Middle East thepolitical uncertainty  is so apparently.

Abstract

The condition of Palestine which has been occupied by Israel for a long time and has yet to be resolved, encourages poets to give birth to literary works in which echoed the suffering experienced by the Palestinian people. One of them is the poem of Maḥmūd Darwīsy entitled "Qaṣīdatu Al-Arḍi" in anthology Al-Aʻmālu Al-Kāmilatu. The poem reflects the message of revealing encouragement for the community in fighting for the Palestinian homeland and bringing up Palestinian nationalism. Therefore, the aim of this study is to uncover the meaning of this poem in relation to defending the Palestinian territories and uniting the nationalism of the people. The theory used in this research is the semiotic theory, which is a discipline that views the poem "Qaṣīdatu Al-Arḍi" in anthology Al-Aʻmālu Al-Kāmilatu as a semiotic marker where the meaning (signified) requires deeper analysis. Methodologically, this study uses the Michael Riffaterre semiotic model, a method that reveals the meaning of poetry technically using indirect expressions, heuristic readings, and hermeneutic readings. The results of this study found that this poem implies the struggle of the Palestinian people in defending their homeland where the action was manifested in large-scale demonstrations but unfortunately it did not even have any impact. Therefore, the only effective way to do it is by telling it through literary works such as in the title "Qaṣīdatu Al-Arḍi" in the anthology of AlAʻmālu Al-Kāmilatu. The work is a reflection of the suffering of the Palestinian people represented by the author, Maḥmūd Darwīsy, a Palestinian writer.

Error in the language occurs due to speakers or learners already have rules of grammar  different from other grammars being studied. An impact arises on the imperfection or inability of speakers implying the use of the language. This article will reveal the errors that arise as a result of the lack of dominance of the rules of the language being studied. The goal is to find out on what level the error occurred. This research data is taken from the final examination of the subjects of Arabic Text Review Semester I and Semester III students of Arabic. Further data is analyzed by utilizing existing Arabic structure concept or theory. The result is that these learners' language errors occur both on the lexicon, Arabic phrase and as well in Arabic clauses. From the results of this study can be argued that to avoid language errors, grammatical mastery or grammar of a second language requires a lot of practice, both written and oral.

Abstract

This paper aims to describe linguistic phenomena in Arabic as seen from general linguistic theories. Based on the universal nature of language, the unique of a language system can be analyzed using external approaches outside of it. By this comparative method, novelty can be found frequently and encourage the development of a theory. The method used is descriptive and comparative. Descriptive methods are used to describe general linguistic theories. The comparative method is used to find the similarities of the two linguistic systems, especially at the syntactic and morphological levels. Several conclusions were drawn. First, at the syntactic level, Arabic has a system that is not much different from the system in general linguistics. Several syntactic theories in general linguistics such as transitivity theory, X-Bar Theory, Theta Theory and Case Theory can be found in Arabic equivalent. Second, in its morphological system, Arabic also has the same word formation processes such as Affixation, Acronym, Conversion, Back Formation, Clipping, Blending, Compounding, Borrowing, and Coinage.
