Abstract

This research aims to analyze the use of the title caliph in the context of the Naqsabandiyah Babussalam Tarekat in South Labuhanbatu Regency. This research shows that being a Khalifah of Allah is a gift that is given a mandate to obey Allah’s commands, to look after the heavens and the earth, especially the environment where you live. The Caliph can preserve the environment if he can implement several characters that must be present in a leader. For example, the character of commitment, sincerity, fairness, honesty, istiqomah and so on. This research uses a qualitative descriptive research method which aims to understand the phenomena experienced by research subjects such as behavior, perception, motivation, actions and so on holistically and by means of descriptions in the form of words and language as well as through in-depth interviews with participants. Caliph, murshid, and member of the tarekat, this research reveals that the title Caliph not only has spiritual meaning, but also functions as a symbol of leadership and authority in the community. Further analysis shows that the use of this title is influenced by local historical, social and cultural factors, as well as the dynamics of the relationship between the congregation and the wider community. It is hoped that the research results can contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of the socio-religious dynamics in South Labuhanbatu Regency, especially in the context of the development of the congregation and the use of religious titles.

Abstract

Abstract This research is motivated by the fact that there are still many polemics in society that do not understand the term habib and how others should see the term itself. Most people know this term only from following along and understanding clouds that are not scientific. The occurrence of this polemic is due to the controversy of the habib phenomenon, so that there are groupings of people who are pro and contra to this term. Researchers want to know how the habib phenomenon becomes an interesting matter to be traced further in its development, whether it is related to religious and social contexts. This research is a qualitative research of the literature study type. This research shows that the phenomenon of the habib has received various reactions in society even to the point of a challenge to be able to prove the claim for the habaib who say the habaib are descendants of the Prophet. Furthermore, the Habib title needs a clear understanding of meaning for the community so that people follow Habib no more than a teacher who must be respected and loved. The term habib must be understood not as a privilege, but as a form of responsibility as someone who has genealogy from the Messenger of Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. Keyword: Phenomenon, Habib, Theology, Sociology.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the livelihoods of Petuk Katimpun Village fishermen facing ecological, economic, and flooding problems. The research method used is qualitative and literature study. Data collection techniques included participant observation, interviews, literature study, and documentation. The results revealed that the river is a living space that cannot be separated to support the various needs and livelihood activities of the Petuk Katimpun community. The availability of natural resources in the river basin is utilized to maintain a sustainable life. Communities living along the banks of the Rungan River tend to have complex problems, especially against disasters and ecological damage to the river environment, which disrupts the community’s livelihood system. The people of Petuk Katimpun use the Rungan River to catch fish, find rattan, and conduct gold mining. In addition, the Rungan River is used to access lakes and swamp forests and catch fish using boats. The survival strategies carried out by Petuk Katimpun fishermen are, first, tying the belt tighter, namely saving money but not reducing the portion and quality of food and saving when the income is significant. Second, job diversification (alternative subsistence) is done by doing various jobs to increase revenue, such as the work done by fishermen, such as looking for rattan. In contrast, the fisherman’s wife becomes a seller of fish caught by her husband. Third, by utilizing social networks such as relatives, acquaintances, or neighbors to gain access to specific resources such as assistance or information on fishing areas, the fishermen’s wives also form arisan groups

Abstract

Observing the diversity of perspectives on religious tolerance contributes significantly to fostering a more harmonious coexistence within societies characterized by varying religious affiliations. The overarching aim of this study is to investigate the viewpoints held by the populace of Cilegon regarding religious tolerance, focusing on partial comprehension, and to elucidate the community's perspectives on addressing the challenges associated with religious diversity within the city. Drawing upon findings from case studies and field data gathered through interviews with 16 participants representing the general populace, all adherents of Islam, and boasting diverse backgrounds spanning education and profession, this research delineates two primary dimensions of religious tolerance as perceived by the residents of Cilegon: acceptance and respect towards individuals holding divergent beliefs, ideologies, or faiths. Within the framework of tolerance, two delineated categories of boundaries emerge: theological and social. Both delineations uphold fundamental principles of acceptance and respect, with acceptance signifying acknowledgment of the existence of individuals adhering to different religious beliefs, while respect underscores the imperative for individuals to uphold principles of humaneness in their interactions with one another

Abstract

Along with the times, the tourism sector is one of the factors that should be taken into account, because it is a strategic asset to encourage the development of areas that have natural potential or tourist attractions. Bengkulu City has a lot of natural tourism potential which, if managed properly, can improve the regional economy. One of them is Jakat beach tourism which has been around for a long time, managed by a tourism awareness group (Pokdarwis). Pokdarwis utilizes social capital as a strategy to manage the tourist destination "jakat beach" to be more widely known by the community. The importance of community participation provides social capital in maintaining the tourist area. So social capital is a product of human relations as networks, norms, values, reciprocity and trust that have the potential for community productivity for the development of members of a community group that allows cooperation between them from a village that has tourism potential. The purpose of this research is to analyze the role of social capital in the development of the jakat beach tourist destination itself. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods, namely analyzing and presenting factual data systematically so that it can be more easily understood and concluded. In this study, the data collection techniques used were primary and secondary data collection techniques in the form of interviews, observation and documentation. Based on the results of the research, the social capital contained in the tourism awareness group (pokdarwis) has a positive influence in managing and developing jakat beach tourism.

Abstract

This article examines the pattern of religious moderation implementation in Namo Bintang Village, Pancur Batu District, North Sumatra, where the community life is marked by significant religious diversity. The urgency of this research lies in the need to understand how multicultural and multireligious societies can coexist peacefully amid differences in beliefs, an essential factor for social cohesion in Indonesia. Using a qualitative ethnographic approach, research data was collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation of social and religious activities within the community. The data analysis process utilized the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model, including data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing or data verification, to ensure accuracy and validity. The research findings indicate that social life in Namo Bintang Village fosters religious harmony through various communal practices such as mutual cooperation (gotong royong), interfaith dialogue, and inclusive leadership by community leaders. These findings are discussed with reference to Judith Butler's Theory of Religious Performativity and Gordon Allport's Intergroup Contact Theory, revealing that religious moderation is not only reliant on formal policies but also shaped by the performance of social interactions and positive contact among diverse groups. In conclusion, the implementation of religious moderation in Namo Bintang Village shows that tolerance can be strengthened through constructive social contact and institutions that support inclusivity. As a recommendation, this model could be adapted to similar communities in Indonesia to reinforce social cohesion. It is also suggested that educational programs on tolerance and interfaith training be expanded as a foundation for sustainable religious moderation in diverse societies
