Abstract

The main purpose of establishing a village is to meet the needs of the community that founded the village. In order for the community's needs to be met, it is necessary to manage the village potential properly. The purpose of this study was to determine the spatial system of the traditional Batak Toba village which includes the physical and social components of the traditional Batak Toba village and how the social system organizes the physical and social components of a village. This study uses qualitative methods to understand social phenomena. The results of the study indicate that a village for the Toba Batak community is a social order and system in which the community can interact socially, both between individuals and between families. The traditional Batak Toba village is autonomous and has authority. In order for the autonomy and authority of a village to continue to exist, a traditional Batak Toba village lives in a legal order. The running of the legal system is organized by a collective leadership in a village, this collective leadership creates a legal order and a place for community questions. In the event of a violation or dispute, the collective leadership is asked for consideration of the sanctions or penalties that will be given.

Abstract

The study used in this study is a socio-theological study, the sociological aspect that you want to examine, namely what are the social factors that cause the GMIT Elim Alaanglah Congregation to still maintain the sear afeser tradition and from a Christian theology perspective, it is assessed in the sear afeser tradition which is in line with the teachings Christianity This research uses a qualitative approach with the collection method carried out through in-depth interviews and observation. The findings of the data in the research are that the tradition of sear afeser is a tradition that has been passed down from generation to generation because it contains values of family unity and kinship, values of respect and cultural values. The sear afeser tradition contains sacred philosophical values through the symbolic act of holding hands to mark promises and commitments in building a once-in-a-lifetime household. The lack of understanding about the sanctity of the wedding blessing in the church is one of the causes of traditional marriage couples through the sear afeser tradition not continuing the confirmation and blessing of marriage in the church. sear afeser married couples understand that the confirmation and blessing of marriage in the church is only an administrative matter. For this reason, the church needs to proclaim a prophetic voice for couples who ignore the confirmation and blessing of marriage in the church so that married couples can reflect on their understanding and strengthen the foundation of their family life regarding the essence of Christian marriage

Abstract

Dalam penelitian ini membahas tentang Proses Terjadinya Sinkretisme Dan Bentuk-Bentuk Sinkretisme. Pada umumnya masyarakat di Desa Pulau Rakyat Tua adalah merupakan etnik batak toba, salah satu sub etnik batak. Mayoritas penduduk di Kecamatan Pulau Rakyat Tua beragama Islam. Masyarakatnya juga cukup baik menerima kaum pendatang dari luar etnis. Terbukti di Kecamatan ini terbentuk sebuah masyarakat Islam dan masyarakat Kristen yang hidup bersanding tanpa ada satupun persel isihan dari dulunya yang mempermasalahkan hal-hal seputar agama. Pada zaman kesultanan, orang Batak Toba meninggalkan kampung halamannya dengan berbagai alasan dan tinggal di Sumatera Timur yang diperintah oleh beberapa kesultanan Melayu yang sangat fanatik terhadap Islam. Kondisi ini pada akhirnya menyebabkan terjadinya akulturasi budaya di Asahan pada masa kerajaan hingga sekarang. Fakta menunjukkan bahwa telah terjadi akulturasi budaya antara budaya Melayu dan Batak Toba di Asahan. Dimana budaya yang kuat adalah budaya melayu dan budaya yang lemah adalah budaya batak yang dibawa oleh para pendatang. Karena tujuan migrasi suku Batak Toba ke Asahan adalah untuk memenuhi kebutuhan ekonominya, maka mereka terpaksa atau tidak terpaksa harus beradaptasi dengan etnis Melayu Asahan. Itulah sebabnya orang Batak mengikuti etnis Melayu, sehingga terjadi pergeseran budaya. Tujuan tulisan ini adalah mengetahui hubungan sosiologis antara sesama batak toba beda keyakinan dan juga terhadap etnik lain di luar Batak Toba Muslim. Metode yang dipakai dalam tulisan ini adalah metode sejarah, yaitu pengumpulan sumber, Interpretasi dan yang terakhir adalah penulisan. Pada tahap Heuristik, penilis menggunakan metode lapangan.

Abstract

Awe-awe is a term for those who have the job of being a road guide for vehicles passing through the Gumitir route, Banyuwangi Regency. The steep road conditions in the Gumitir route area make awe-awe seem to be very much needed. Where this makes awe-awe activities widely practiced by the surrounding community. Initially, the awe-awe was tasked with helping and giving signals to vehicles that were about to pass the bend. However, awe-awe developed into a medium for begging and became a tradition that was passed down to the next generation. The complexity of the awe-awe phenomenon occurs when there is a privatization of space by the power elite which causes a reduction in freedom to do awe-awe. This research uses the perspective of Space theory proposed by Henri Lefebvre. According to Lefebvre, spatial space in modern capitalist society is a battleground that will never end. The purpose of this research is to find out the complexity of the lives of awe-awe actors in the contemporary era which has been colored by capitalist domains and privatization of space so that it has an impact on the lack of fulfillment of space rights by awe-awe actors. The type of research is qualitative research with an ethnographic approach. The results showed that there has been the privatization of space in the Gumitir path area due to the process of land capitalization by the community and local government. This privatization of space also has an impact on the non-fulfillment of the space for awe-awe actors, which over time the meaning of awe-awe has shifted by adjusting the situation and conditions of the existing reality.

Abstract

 Sosial structure always shows complex categorization. Wealth and poverty are not only seen as the result of functional interactions in society, but rather sosial dialectics that are continuously understood. This article explores the sosial life of the beggar community, especially focusing on the elaboration of the stigma they face from one side of society, and their efforts to capitalize on the situation of poverty as sosial capital, as work that is done routinely to continue life. The research method used here is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Data was taken through observation, interviews and documentation studies. This article finds that beggars in their communities face negative stigma, perceived bias, from the local community and the communities where they operate as beggars. However, on the other hand, these beggars feel immune to their sosial status and understand that the poverty they face must be capitalized on as sosial capital to earn a living. Here, this article puts forward the argument that beggars and their poverty must gain an alternative perspective so that this can be used as additional insight in efforts to understand and resolve the problem of poverty.

Abstract

This research aims to reveal the values and traditions that exist in the Sunni-Shiite community in building multiculturalism in a pluralistic society. So far, Sunni-Shia relations have been depicted in a conflictual scheme. This research uses qualitative methods from a sociological perspective. The data obtained through in-depth interviews, participatory observation and documentation techniques, this study shows that the atmosphere of peace between Sunni-Shia in Banjaran is reflected in humanitarian social work, social organizations and institutions, organizations and educational institutions. Traditions that develop in the community and values as a belief in the conduct of life every day cannot be negated in its role in building patterns, values that build awareness of multiculturalism so that from that awareness comes tolerance between religious communities.

Abstract

The phenomenon of workaholism has occurred a lot in society, so it is important to carry out an in-depth analysis to examine this phenomenon. The focus of this research is to examine the phenomenon of workaholism using the lens of Foucault's discourse analysis theory with two methodologies used, namely archeology of knowledge and genealogy of power. The aim of this research is to reveal the discourse of workaholism that occurs among PT. Kusuma Mulia Textile workers. This research approach is qualitative research using the case study method. The data comes from documentation, interviews and direct observation using purposive sampling techniques. The results of the analysis, there are values that power wants to build, namely creating a comfortable working atmosphere, establishing flexible working hours at certain position levels, and related work contract agreements. Internalization of values is carried out through company regulations, leadership policies, and instilled habits. This discourse aims to form workers who are loyal, responsible and make maximum contributions to company. The regulation produce knowledge and become truth to workers. So as to produce employees who are disciplined and obedient. This discipline is considered to be the most effective method and mechanism in instilling discourse and exercising domination.

Abstract

Agama baha’i merupakan agama monoteistik yang berorientasi pada kesatuan spirit keagamaan kepada seluruh manusia. Adapun tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis nilai – nilai kemanusiaan yang terkandung dalam ajaran ataupun prinsip yang dijalankan umat baha’i sehingga dapat menjalin kerukunan dengan umat beragama di Desa Cebolek Kidul. Jenis penelitian pada studi ini adalah penelitian kualitatif. Data didapatkan dengan metode wawancara, observasi dan kajian literatur. Hasil dari penelitian ini menjelaskan bahwa didalam ajaran agama baha’i mengandung nilai-nilai kemanusiaan seperti kebebasan, peduli sosial, anti diskriminasi, dan demokrasi. Agama baha’i mengajarkan kebebasan kepada umatnya untuk mencari kebenaran secara mandiri berdasarkan indra penglihatannya dan hati nurani. Selain itu, umat baha’i juga selalu ikut dalam kegiatan sosial yang ada di desa, bersikap sopan dan terbuka terhadap masyarakat yang berbeda, serta selalu mengutamakan musyawarah dalam mengambil keputusan. Atas dasar  nilai kemanusiaan inilah umat baha’i di Desa Cebolek Kidul dapat menjalin kerukunan antar umat beragama sehingga agama baha’i tetap eksis keberadaannya.

Abstract

Culture is a valuable asset that needs to be preserved. Through this, there is a need for educational practices for the community as an effort to preserve culture. One of them can be done through Sanggar Pasinaon Pambiwara Keraton Surakarta. In its educational practice, this studio provides material about Javanese culture from the perspective of the Surakarta Palace for a period of six months. The purpose of this study is to examine the educational practices carried out by Sanggar Pasinaon Pambiwara Keraton Surakarta as an effort to maintain the existence of Javanese culture using Malinowski's functionalisme theory analysis framework. This research was conducted in Sanggar Pasinaon Pambiwara Keraton Surakarta, precisely in Marcukundha Ward. The research method used is qualitative research with the type of intrinsic case study research method. The results showed that there are several roles of the studio, namely the role of class learning and the role in palace activities. The elements that support the running of the studio include the founder, pangayom, pamong, dwija, and the Yayasan Kebudayaan Keraton Surakarta.  The educational practices carried out by the studio have fulfilled three needs, including activities on the beach after the Nyekar dhateng Pajimatan activity, the facilities and services provided by the studio fulfill psycho-biological needs, in gathering activities, discussing marriage material using Javanese customs, and trying to provide livelihoods fulfill biological needs, the educational process carried out includes learning sesuluh (material), Gladhen Tumindak (practical activities), Nyekar dhateng Pajimatan activities and Nyinau Wewangunan Surakarta Palace activities, and rules in terms of dress meet instrumental needs, and learning Javanese culture with reference to Surakarta Palace meets integrative needs.
