Abstract

Background: Dysmenorrhea is a common issue frequently experienced by female university students, especially during menstruation, and it can negatively affect daily activities such as studying and worship. Primary dysmenorrhea occurs due to uterine contractions caused by increased levels of prostaglandins. To address this complaint, many non-pharmacological approaches are used, one of which is complementary therapy in the form of lavender aromatherapy. Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) is known to contain active compounds such as linalool and linalyl acetate, which have analgesic properties and provide a relaxing effect through the limbic system when inhaled. This effect has the potential to reduce pain perception. Objective:This study aims to determine the effect of administering lavender aromatherapy on the intensity of dysmenorrhea pain among female students at a pesantren in Yogyakarta. Methods: This study employed a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-post test approach. The sample consisted of 30 female students selected using purposive sampling from the total population. Pain intensity was measured using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) questionnaire, based on parameters ranging from mild to severe pain. Measurements were taken before the intervention (pre-test), then participants were given lavender aromatherapy by applying two drops to a tissue to be inhaled for 10 minutes. A follow-up measurement (post-test) was conducted afterward. Results: There was a decrease in the average pain scale from 5.93 (before the intervention) to 4.00 (after the intervention). Statistical analysis using a paired t-test showed a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating that the administration of lavender aromatherapy had a significant effect on reducing the intensity of dysmenorrhea pain. Conclusion: The administration of lavender aromatherapy was proven to significantly reduce the intensity of dysmenorrhea pain among female students at the pesantren in Yogyakarta and can therefore be recommended as a safe and easily applicable non-pharmacological alternative therapy.

Abstract

Background: Breast cancer is a global health problem with 2.3 million cases recorded in 2020 and a projected increase in 2040. A delayed diagnosis of breast cancer elevates the likelihood of advanced-stage disease, potentially restricting treatment efficacy and reducing survival rates. Consequently, it is essential for women to acquire knowledge on performing Breast Self-Examination (BSE) and to engage in it consistently, as early detection of breast cancer enhances access to optimal treatment modalities. To increase awareness, adolescent girls need to be provided health education with interesting media. Objective: This study is to find out the impact of health education with video media on the improvement of knowledge of BSE in adolescent girls at SMPS IT Insan Kamil North Cikarang in 2024. Method: This type of research is quantitative. The design of this study was quasi-experimental research with one group pre-test and post-test design. The population and sample in this study were adolescent girls in grade VIII at at SMPS IT Insan Kamil North Cikarang 2024. Sampling technique with a total sampling of 84 respondents. Data collection using questionnaires and data analysis using paired sample t-test. Results: The paired sample t-test statistical test study found that there was an effect of health education with video media on increasing knowledge of BSE with a p-value of 0.000 where p <0.05 which means Ha was accepted Conclusion: There is an influence of health education with video media on increasing knowledge of (BSE) in adolescent girls at SMPS IT Insan Kamil North Cikarang ini 2024. Therefore, it is important to educate adolescent girls to increase knowledge breat self examination as early breast cancer detection every month after period.

Abstract

Background: Low back pain is a complaint that is often experienced by pregnant women, especially in the first trimester due to hormonal adaptation and in the third trimester due to increased mechanical load on the body. This condition can interfere with daily activities, quality of life, and decrease comfort during pregnancy. Pregnancy exercises are one of the non-pharmacological interventions that are believed to help reduce back pain complaints through stretching exercises and muscle relaxation. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of pregnancy exercises in reducing the intensity of low back pain in pregnant women in the first trimester and third trimester. Methods: This study used a quasi experiment design with a pretest-posttest one group design approach. The sample consisted of pregnant women in the first trimester and third trimester who experienced low back pain (30 people), selected by total sampling technique. Interventions in the form of pregnancy exercises were carried out regularly according to standards during several meetings. Back pain intensity was measured using the Verbal Descriptor Scale (VDS) before and after the intervention. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon statistical test (0.000) to look at the effects before and after treatment. Results: The results showed a significant decrease in the intensity of low back pain after pregnancy exercises, both in pregnant women in the first trimester and third trimester (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Pregnancy exercises have been shown to be effective in reducing low back pain in pregnant women in the first trimester and third trimester. This intervention may be recommended as part of obstetric care to improve maternal comfort during pregnancy.

Abstract

Background: This study was conducted because many toddlers have problems with appetite. This study aims to examine the effect of giving temulawak honey on increasing appetite in undernourished toddlers. This research is a causality type with quantitative quasi-experiment research methods. The collection tool used is the CEBQ questionnaire. The target population is toddlers with malnutrition in Solokan Village, Pakisjaya, Karawang. The research subjects consisted of 42 undernourished toddlers, obtained using total sampling. The variables used in this study were the provision of temulawak honey as an independent variable and an increase in appetite for toddlers with malnutrition as a dependent variable. Measurement of variables using one group pretest-post test. Data analysis using bivariate analysis and unvariate analysis. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant difference between the appetite of toddlers before given temulawak honey and after given temulawak honey. This is evidenced by the number of toddlers with good appetite increased, namely before giving temulawak honey by 9.5%, while after being given temulawak honey the number of toddlers with good appetite amounted to 83.3%. From the results of this study it can be seen that temulawak honey can be used as an alternative to improve the appetite of toddlers, so that feeding in toddlers can be optimal

Results: Based on research findings, the average age of respondents was 14. The majority of respondents experienced pain before moderate intensity with a percentage of 60%, meanwhile, in the after measurement, generally respondents received a decrease in dysmenorrhea to mild pain with a percentage of 70%, furthermore, there was an increase in the number of respondents who did not feel pain with a percentage of 20% from 0%. Based on Wilcoxon's research, a value of = 0.000 (p<0.05) means that there is an effect of dysmenorrhea on the reduction of dysmenorrhea pain. Abstract

Background: Exclusive breastfeeding is established as a strategy to accelerate stunting reduction, however, the existing coverage problem has not reached the target of 80% and the Alalak Selatan Community Health Center has been recorded as having a coverage of 75.2%. Maternal stress is suspected to be one of the triggers for low breast milk production so that exclusive breastfeeding cannot be given optimally, which can lead to stunting. Objective: To analyze the relationship between maternal stress and exclusive breastfeeding in infants in the Alalak Selatan Community Health Center working area. Method: This quantitative study used a cross-sectional correlative analytical design. The sample in this study was 35 mothers and infants aged 6-12 months who were selected by purposive sampling. Data collection used the Holmes-Rahe stress scale questionnaire and closed-ended questions about exclusive breastfeeding. Data were analyzed using the Kolmogorov Smirnov Z correlation test because the chi-square requirement was not met, this was indicated by the presence of 6 cells (75%) that had an estimated value <5. Results: The majority of respondents were identified as not experiencing stress with a total of 15 people (42.9%), not providing exclusive breastfeeding with a total of 18 people (51.4%), and having stunted babies with a total of 19 people (54.3%). The results of the study showed a p value = 0.000. Conclusion: based on the results of the research analysis that has been carried out, it is stated that there is a relationship between maternal stress and exclusive breastfeeding in infants in the work area of the Alalak Selatan Community Health Center.
