Abstract

The presence of a Trans Sumatra toll road in a region can promote national economic growth. The construction of a Trans Sumatra toll road also stimulates economic development in the region through which it passes. Applying the standard difference-in-difference (DiD) method, this study is to assess the impact of the Trans Sumatra toll road in 3494 villages from 2006 to 2019. It indicates that there was an average increase of 0.30 minimarkets in the villages that pass through the toll road compared to those that do not. Additionally, the effect of the increase in minimarkets is greater in villages located near the gate toll. The result indicates that there are an average of 0.90 more minimarkets in villages near the gate toll than in those that do not pass through the toll road. Even after controlling using variable control conflict and topography, this study's findings remain consistent. One of the strategic projects of the Indonesian government is the Trans Sumatra toll road, which is intended to boost the national economy by increasing regional development on the island of Sumatra.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of GRDP per capita, Investment, Human Development Index, Open Unemployment Rate on inter-regional income inequality in Central Java Province. This study uses secondary data in the form of panel data consisting of cross-time period 2010-2021 and cross-site 35 regencies/cities in Central Java Province. The approach method used to estimate this regression model is the FEM (Fixed Effect Model) approach method. The results of this study indicate that the variables of GRDP per capita and the Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) have a positive and significant effect on inter-regional income inequality, and the Human Development Index (HDI) variable has a negative and significant effect on inter-regional income inequality. Meanwhile, the Investment variable has no effect on inter-regional income inequality in Central Java province in 2010-2021

Abstract

The development of Yogyakarta city as the growth center in the Yogyakarta urban area has resulted in significant physical changes on its peri-urban, especially in Sleman Regency. The peri-urban area is a transition zone between urban and rural features. This area often experiences dramatic changes in socio-economic as well as spatial structure conditions such as land conversion. The rate of land conversion in the peri-urban area of Sleman Regency happened mostly due to the need for housing, including the need for migrants. This land use dynamic needs to be understood to anticipate uncontrolled land use changes in the future, especially in peri-urban as it has been widely developed for housing in recent years. Therefore, this study seeks to simulate land use changes in the peri-urban area of Sleman Regency in 2041 using Land Change Modeler. The variables used in this study consisted of driving factors (distance to roads, distance to settlements, and population density) and limiting factors (distance to rivers, environmental physical conditions, and determination of protected areas). Based on the simulation results, there will be a significant increase in residential areas from agricultural areas. On the contrary, green areas (forest, bush, and open land) experience a decrease. Simulation of future land use and suitability is the first step for land use policy-making. By knowing future land use, this study can be beneficial for land use control policies for sustainable land use, especially in rapidly developed areas.

Abstract

Forest resources are one of the environmental components that function as oxygen producers, carbon absorbers, erosion prevention regulators of water systems, providers of biodiversity, and temperature regulators. Recognizing the importance of forest areas for humans and other living things, research activities are needed to analyze the value of direct and indirect benefits and existence values and identify the factors that influence the magnitude of the economic value of the Sesaot community forest area. This type of research is descriptive with a quantitative approach. The research location is in the Sesaot Community Forest Area. Respondents were 135 people who lived around the forest area and were selected by purposive sampling. Data were collected through direct interviews and analyzed using the Total Economic Value formula and multiple linear regression. The study results show that the total economic value of the Sesaot Community Forest Area in West Lombok Regency is Rp. 4,528,501,000 per year consisting of the direct use value of Rp. 1,725,326,000, indirect use value of Rp. 2,735,495,000 and a current value of Rp. 67,680,000. Factors that affect the value of the Willingness to pay are income, number of dependents, age, level of education, and profession. Simultaneously all variables have an influence and are signed on the Willingness to pay for the existence of the Sesaot community forest area.

In the age of contemporary transportation, aviation is a significant subject. Developing nations or areas will increasingly need effective transportation. Significant economic developments are anticipated to benefit areas with airport infrastructure. This research discusses the responses of the community, including those of government officials and entrepreneurs, in Purbalingga Regency regarding the existence of Sudirman Airport which has been developed as a commercial airport and has been operating since 2021. In Purbalingga Regency, where Jenderal Besar Soedirman (JB Soedirman) Airport is located, this study seeks to understand how significant local communities believes the airport is to the region's ability to advance economically. The comprehensive interviewing of chosen respondents used in this study gives it a qualitative aspect. The findings of the study demonstrate that the presence of JB Soedirman Airport offers promising prospects for local development. The airport's presence indicates the potential for investment growth and business capitalization in Purbalingga Regency. The Purbalingga Regency government must provide the appropriate policy formulation to support the continuity and sustainability of the airport's operations in order to take advantage of the numerous favorable chances

Abstract

Education, economy, health, tourism, industry, transportation, and social welfare were greatly affected by the 2021 Covid-19 Pandemic. The benchmark for welfare is properly fulfilling the basic needs of society. This study aims to model the level of social welfare in big cities on the island of Java in 2021 by including spatial effects. The method used is Ordinary Least Square (OLS) and Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR). GWR model, the weighting used is the Gaussian kernel function. The OLS model produces an R2 of 83.96%, while the GWR model produces an R2 of 84.03%. This shows that the GWR model is better at explaining the level of diversity in the welfare of cities on the island of Java, which is 84.03% and the rest is influenced by geographical factors because there is no significant difference between the linear regression model and GWR.

Abstract

This research aims to assess the financial performance of a region using the indicators of financial independence, financial dependence, and fiscal decentralization, and analyze their impact on the poverty rate in North Central Timor Regency. Time series data from 2001 to 2020 were utilized for the analysis, employing descriptive analysis and multiple linear regression. The findings indicate that the financial performance of the region remains low, signaling a reliance on external sources of income. Financial independence, financial dependence, and fiscal decentralization, both individually and collectively, exhibit a significant negative influence on the poverty rate in the area. This research underscores the importance of improving regional financial performance as a primary strategy to address poverty in North Central Timor Regency. Collaboration between the regional government and the central government is encouraged to enhance financial independence, reduce dependence, and ultimately, improve the well-being of the local population.

Abstract

Indonesian tourism sector becomes an important part of national development planning over the past decade. However, the development of the tourism sector stimulates many negative ecological issues, such as garbage deposits, emissions, and other environmental degradation. Tourism has a complex relationship with the economy and ecological quality, so it is essential to investigate the progress of a tourism-economy-ecology system. An integrated study of the system can be analyzed using the coupling coordination degree method (CCDM). This method provides an overview of the interaction rate and the level of coordination in the systems over time. The findings show that the degree of coupling between tourism-economy-ecology systems increases from run-in to high phases. This condition indicates that there was a strong connection between the systems during the observation. Meanwhile, the degree of coupling coordination constitutes an ever-increasing evolution from approaching disorder to well coordination. It shows that the systems are increasingly supportive of each other. Conversely, the higher level of coordination is accompanied by a decline in the environmental system. Promoting ecological quality is a critical policy for sustainable tourism growth, and it demands more attention from all parties involved in the tourism industry.
