Abstract

Economic potency in region of central Java is interesting to analyze. On 2000 to 2004, this region had referred to structural economic changing. Basic sectors, which was being prime sectors on 2000, has declined the role be the main regional income on 2004. The new cities establishment on this region, late of 90’s, may have important role to the structural change. It has driven modern activities that gave significant contribution to regional income. Nevertheless, regional typology shows the income disparities among the regency on this regions. Especially, the regions with low per capita income and coincide with low economic growth should need to concern. Without appropriate and wise policy, these regions will always left behind from the other regions if they are compared by the regions that have better typology.                        Keywords: economic potency, regional typology, income disparities

Abstract

Regional economic potencies in Central Java Province is an interesting object to examine. Many regencies in the province has relied on agriculture sector be a primary income source in 2000, but, the sector has showed decreasing contribution in 2004. Beside that, new city raising, since 1999, has also affected to the structural economy changing because it leaded modern economic activity to stimulate regional income increasingly. By Static Location Quotient (LQ), this research shows that some superior economic sectors has change in 2000 to 2004, among regencies and cities. The tendency of the changing has an implication of the growth of role in every sectors, relatively among the regions. By Dynamic Location Quotient (LQ), this research shows some regions have lower LQ than others and coincide decreasing LQ value. If this empirical condition occurs in important sectors, it will has negative effect to economic condition of society. On the other side, some regions have higher LQ and positive LQ growth. It makes the economic sectors have positive potency and needs to keep improving by policy maker.  Keywords: Static and Dinamic Location Quotient, potencies, regional

Abstract

Investment will create a multiplier effect for the economy, especially investments from abroad which may also encourage the technology spillover and innovation process. Political risk and government investment policy are two factors considered by investors in investing. This research aimed to determine the effect of these two factors on foreign direct investment (FDI) in Indonesia. This research used data of FDI in Indonesia in 2010-2017, during which there were three changes in foreign direct investment policies in Indonesia and one political year. Using panel data analysis, this research found that government policy in revising the negative investment list had no significant effect on FDI flows in Indonesia. It can be seen that the sector effect experiencing a tightening of foreign asset ownership limitation on FDI was greater than the sector effect experiencing loosening of asset ownership limitation by foreign parties. In addition, this research found that political risk had no significant effect on FDI in Indonesia. Keywords: FDI, Politics, Policy.
