Abstract

Community Learning Activity Centers (PKBM) are known to be of low quality and have minimal achievement of school quality indicators. This study demonstrates the direct and indirect influence of management innovation, school ethos, and community involvement on school quality. The sampling technique was stratified cluster random sampling, with a sample size of 400 administrators spread across 15 East Java Province, Indonesia cities. The research design used a quantitative approach with a structured equation model (SEM). Data collection used questionnaires, observation, and documentation. The results showed that management innovation, school ethos, and community involvement significantly influenced school quality. Management innovation implemented by the principal and management team was proven to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the learning process and school governance. The high school ethos is reflected in teacher enthusiasm, student discipline, and a positive culture within the school environment, directly impacting educational service quality. Meanwhile, community involvement from parents, the school committee, and the surrounding environment strengthens support for school programs, both in material and moral aspects. These three variables simultaneously contribute to improving school quality, both in terms of student academic achievement, availability of facilities and infrastructure, and the school's reputation in the eyes of the community.

Abstract

Education in this country is still dominated by a uniform national curriculum that does not fully provide space for the individual development of students' talents. This results in many students' potential not being optimally explored because the learning approach does not take into account cultural context and diversity of talents. This study aims to conduct an in-depth analysis of the implementation of a talent-based curriculum integrated with local cultural values in shaping strategies for developing students' talents. This study employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. The research subjects consist of teachers, school principals, and students involved in the implementation of the talent-based curriculum. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis, using instruments such as interview guides, observation sheets, and document checklists. Data were analyzed using inductive thematic analysis with steps of coding, categorization, theme identification, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that a talent-based curriculum can be effectively implemented through the integration of local cultural values, particularly the philosophy of “Alam Takambang Jadi Guru.” Teachers act as facilitators and mentors in designing adaptive, collaborative, and contextual learning tailored to students' interests and talents in the fields of art, sports, technical skills, and language. In conclusion, the implementation of a talent-based curriculum integrated with local wisdom can create a holistic and empowering learning environment. This research implies the importance of developing a culture-based education model as an innovative alternative in supporting personalized learning and the development of students' talents.

Abstract

The implementation of the Kurikulum Merdeka at Center of Excellence Vocational High Schools (PK) faces challenges, including limited industrial partners, inadequate practical facilities, insufficient teacher understanding, and limited access to technology. This study aims to analyze the management of implementing the Kurikulum Merdeka at the Center of Excellence Vocational High Schools (SMK PK). A descriptive qualitative method was used, with principals, vice principals, and teachers at three PK SMKs (SMK Negeri 1, 2, and 3 Tarakan) as subjects. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and documentation, and then analyzed using the interactive model developed by Miles, Huberman, and Saldana. The results indicate that curriculum planning is conducted through the development of the Educational Unit Operational Curriculum (KOSP), involving internal stakeholders. Implementation includes intracurricular learning, the Pancasila Student Profile-based P5 project, and internships, although hampered by the lack of industrial partners. Learning evaluation remains hindered by assessment instruments that are not aligned with the principles of the Kurikulum Merdeka. The study's conclusions underscore the importance of collaboration with the Business and Industry World (DUDI), increasing teacher capacity through training, and providing supporting facilities. The research implications recommend strengthening synergy between schools, the government, and DUDI to increase the relevance of the curriculum to the needs of the world of work and optimize project-based learning.

Abstract

The low science learning outcomes of elementary school students remain a significant problem in Education, particularly in subjects that tend to be passive and lack active student involvement. Furthermore, low levels of student self-efficacy contribute to the suboptimal understanding of science concepts. This study aims to determine the effect of the Process-Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) Model and self-efficacy on the science learning outcomes of fifth-grade elementary school students. The method used was a quasi-experiment with a Non-Equivalent Control Group Design. The study population was 192 fifth-grade students. A sample of 106 students was selected through a multi-stage random sampling technique, divided into experimental and control groups. Data were collected through a self-efficacy questionnaire and a multiple-choice learning outcome test. Data analysis using two-way ANOVA shows that: there are differences in science learning outcomes between students who follow the POGIL model and conventional learning, there is an interaction between the POGIL model and self-efficacy on science learning outcomes, students with high self-efficacy get better results with the POGIL model, and students with low self-efficacy also get better results with the POGIL model. In conclusion, the application of the POGIL model can improve science learning outcomes for both students with high and low self-efficacy. The implications of this study suggest that the application of the POGIL model can be an effective alternative learning strategy for improving science learning outcomes among elementary school students, regardless of their level of self-efficacy.
