Abstract

This research problem centers on the lexical and phonological forms of Proto Austronesian (PAN) reflected in the Teta Dialect, one of the dialects used by the people of Bima Regency. The Teta dialect has unique linguistic characteristics, but until now there has not been much research to reveal its historical relationship with languages in the Austronesian family, especially in the aspects of sound changes, lexicon and morphology. The aim of this research is to identify sound changes, meaning shifts, and morphological adaptations that occur from the protolanguage to the local dialect. This research is qualitative descriptive research consisting of primary data and secondary data. The subjects of this research are native dialect speakers. The results of this research were analyzed using the theory of sound change, a synthesis of the theories of Crowley, Keraf', and Cser'. This research shows that there are 72 etymones that have a cognate relationship between proto and Teta dialects. The 72 etymones experience 11 types of sound changes, namely; prosthesis (7 etymons), ephenthesis (2 etymons), paragoge (1 etymons), aphaeresis (1 etymons), syncope (4 etymons), apocope (20 etymons), lenition (16 etymons), fortition (13 etymons), metathesis (3 etymons), fusion (1 etymon), and monophthongization (4 etymons). These eleven types of sound changes can be said to be evidence that the Teta dialect is a legacy of Proto Austronesian. In this research, there were 3 informants in Teta village. The limitation of this research was the lack of informants who mastered the vocabulary listed on the word list. In the results of this research, the dialect in Teta village has many similarities to proto-Austronesian. The implications of this research can contribute to the study of Austronesian languages, especially in understanding the pattern of phonological and lexical changes from Proto Austronesian to Teta Dialect. The findings of this research can also be a reference for comparative studies of regional languages in West Nusa Tenggara and the surrounding region.

Abstract

Primary school students' reading skills are often low because reading is considered a less enjoyable activity. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) learning model assisted by fairy tales in improving the reading skills of elementary school students. This study is pseudo-experimental research with a non-equivalent post-test only control group design. The research population consisted of 98 elementary school students, with a sample of 43 students selected using random sampling techniques. The instrument used in this study is a reading skill test. The data were analyzed using inferential statistical analysis, specifically t-tests. The results showed that there was a significant difference in reading skills between the group of students who followed the CIRC learning model assisted by fairy tales and the group that participated in conventional learning. It was concluded that the CIRC learning model assisted by fairy tales had a positive influence on the improvement of reading skills of elementary school students. The implications of this study show the importance of implementing innovative learning strategies to improve students' reading skills.

Abstract

Figurative language plays a crucial role in storytelling by enriching the narrative, deepening character development, and clarifying the expression of themes. Although its use has been widely studied in various forms of media, research on the application of figurative language in animated films is still limited. Therefore, this study aims to identify and categorize the types of figurative language in Migration and analyze its contribution to the storytelling of the film. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with the method of data collection through in-depth analysis of dialog and film scenes. Figurative expressions were categorized based on Leech's typology, and the analysis focused on the frequency and function of various language styles in building the narrative. The results show that hyperbole and metaphor are the most dominant language styles, appearing eight times each, followed by irony seven times. Personification was found twice, while simile only appeared once. Litotes and metonymy were not found, indicating selectivity in the use of figurative language in this movie. Overall, hyperbole and metaphor contribute significantly to enhancing emotional depth, humor, and audience engagement. The implications of this research are useful for filmmakers and educators, highlighting the importance of figurative language in cinematic narratives. Further research could explore audience response, cross-genre comparisons, as well as the potential of animated films in language education.

Abstract

This research aims to develop Canva-based digital interactive comic media in science learning, especially on the topic of energy sources, in order to improve the learning outcomes of third grade elementary school students. This research was conducted because the learning process was less effective because the teacher only used the lecture method during learning. Lack of application of effective learning media to support the learning process. This development uses the ADDIE development model. Based on the validity of digital interactive comic media, using two material experts and two learning design experts. The media expert test obtained an average value of 0.95 which is classified as high validity, the material expert test obtained an average value of 0.94 which is classified as high validity, and the learning design expert test obtained an average value of 0.90 which is also classified as high validity. The results of the practicality test for practitioners or teachers obtained a score of 92%, which means the percentage level is very good, the student response to 17 class III students obtained a score of 88.78%, which means a good percentage level, the small group test got a score of 90.46%, which means the percentage level is very good, and the individual test got a score of 93.33%, which means the percentage level is very good and practical to use. The effectiveness test carried out in class III of SD Negeri 1 Ambengan, totaling 17 students, through the resistance t-test obtained a significant value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.001. These results show a significant magnitude smaller than 0.05.
