Abstract

Notaries’ liability for the authentic deed they draw must be based on the concept of a Notary Public as a position. This concept means were as long as the Notaries still have authority to do the deed, the liability for the make of deed is attached to and imposed on him. This study uses socio-legal approach, in which in this context, legal institutions are not understood as normative entities, but will be seen as part of the whole social system that is in an interrelated condition with other social variables. The result of this research is that the liability principle of a notary which is used is based on mistakes liability. The results also conclude that supply chain management (information facilitation) system acts as a positive moderator in the relation. Notaries can be held liable if there is an element of error they did. Noting the provisions of Article 65 of the Law on Notary Position, the retired Notaries Public will remain responsible for the deed they made. Therefore, there is confusion about the limit of Notaries liability based on Article 65 of the Notarial Law (UUJN) that even though all the deeds made by the Notaries have been handed over or transferred to the Notary protocol depositor, and even they have stopped or not served any longer as Notaries, they must still be responsible for the liability as notaries for their entire lives.

Abstract

Abstract— This report examines the issue of reduction of shipping cost volatility within the global supply chain. The idea is that through the reduction of such supply chain shipping cost volatility, cost savings can be achieved and then passed onto the client firms and from them onto the end-consumer in the commodity chain. This issue is discussed in relation to the way in which blockchain technology can facilitate such cost reductions through the elimination of variance, inventory carrying costs and waste within the supply chain. All of these factors and others such as the integration of smart contracts, space optimization analytics and supply chain volatility indexing among other blockchain supported solutions contribute to shipping cost reduction. Blockchain is described in some depth in order to illustrate its applicability to the supply chain and logistics environment. Blockchain is described as a distributed ledger type system in which all nodes on a given network have full visibility and access to the blocks of date embedded within the system. Furthermore, blockchain is shown to have no centralized management system or authority. The end result is that blockchain is an emerging technology that supports shipping cost reduction at the manufacturing level, distribution level and retail level of any commodity class or product.

Abstract

Abstract: Sustainability is hinged on innovation. The importance of sustainable innovation management in sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) cannot be underestimated. Studies on SSCM have emphasised the need for sustainable innovation in achieving sustainability but none provides deep insights into sustainable innovation management in SSCM implementation in organisation. This lack of research depth stimulates this study to identify and investigate criteria for sustainable supply chain management innovation advancement. This paper proposes a sustainable innovation criteria framework in investigating sustainable supply chains in manufacturing companies. The results of the study will inform industrial managers, practitioners and decision-makers on which criteria to focus on during the implementation stage, to increase sustainability in manufacturing supply chains, and further advance corporate and supply chain sustainable development. The framework may also serve as a theoretical construct for a future empirical study on sustainable supply chain innovation in the manufacturing sector. This paper sets the stage for further research in sustainable innovation practices in the manufacturing sector and its supply chains. Keywords: Supply chain management, Sustainability, Innovation management

Abstract

Abstract? Supply chain management (SCM) in small and medium-sized enterprises is aimed at ensuring both short- and long-term effectiveness and efficiency of these enterprises. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) potentially make irrational decisions because of their individual limitations. Specifically, they are subject to biases, including SCM and escalation of commitment. This study investigates the causality of the interaction between SCM and experience and escalation of commitment in SMEs. This paper used a 1x2 laboratory experimental design with 69 subjects of SME owners who produced pressure-cooked milkfish in Semarang City, Central Java, Indonesia. The independent variable was SCM that consisted of two levels (high vs. low self-attribution). Business age was the proxy of experience as the mediating variable. Meanwhile, the dependent variable was escalation of commitment that was measured with investment decisions. The information on SCM was the new product development opportunity of milkfish meatball. Subjects with high SCM were informed that they had a good ability to coordinate with suppliers to develop the new products while those with low SCM were informed on the presence of the uncertain economic condition and bad luck. One-way ANOVA tested the effectiveness of randomization while independent sample test and univariate analysis of variance tested the hypotheses. The study shows that SME owners with a high self-attribution exhibit greater escalation of commitment than those with a low self-attribution. This paper also empirically finds that the interaction between SCM and experience increases escalation of commitment. By demonstrating that SCM likely affects SMEs? investment decisions, this study advises governments to take entrepreneurs? behavioral aspects into account when advocating SMEs. The financial behavior literature on escalation of commitment largely focuses on large firms in their analysis. Meanwhile, the existing phenomena show that decision-making processes in SMEs also exhibit escalation of commitment. This study investigates escalation of commitment in SMEs? investment decision making regarding SCM and experience in running businesses.
