It influences the way the shoppers distinguish the environment of the retail store. This article provides an insight about the retail store attributes that has an influence over the shopping motivations and their effect on women shoppers. To identify the relationship of shopping motives on the dimensions of retailing, a scale was generated, validated and compared with the retail factors of the store. It is observed that shopping motivation is optimistically correlated with the retail factors of the store.

Abstract

A key factor in determining the trade volume is the efficiency of the cargo handling capacity of the ports. Container Freight Stations forms a major infrastructural component which primarily contributes to the decongestion of ports at the terminals. It is considered as an extension of department of customs. As India has improved its trade environment, development of ports, the volume of trade has increased over the years. The containerization of cargo has increased the role of CFS in India. CFS are the integral part of the EXIM supply chain. Custom House Agents and importers have some grievances such as the delay in the movement of cargo which would in turn increase the demurrage incurred on the importers, lack of infrastructure facilities, modern container handling equipment. Indias EXIM trade is fast growing and for managing and sustaining the growth, it is very essential to enhance the infrastructure facilities, modern cargo handling equipment. The purpose of the study is to analyse the important criteria in the selection of a CFS, the association of problems and satisfaction of the Customs house agents. SPSS 21 is used to perform the MANOVA, ANOVA and Correlation analysis. The results revealed that there is a significant effect of number of shipping bills on location, safety and quick clearance, difference of opinion on satisfaction between importers and exporters and a negative association between the problems in the CFS and satisfaction. The study also identified that quick clearance, modern cargo handling equipments and location are the major criteria in the selection of the CFS. Abstract

In this paper, we develop an economic order quantity model with imperfect quality, inspection errors and sales returns, where upon the arrival of order lot, 100% screening process is performed and the items of imperfect quality are sold as a single batch at a lessen price, prior to receiving the next shipment. The screening process to remove the defective items may involve two types of errors. In this article we extend the Khan et al. (2011) model by considering demand and defective rate in fuzzy sense and also sales return in our model. The objective is to determine the optimal order lot size to maximize the total profit. We use the signed distance, a ranking method for fuzzy numbers, to find the approximate of total profit per unit time in the fuzzy sense. The impact of fuzziness of fraction of defectives and demand rate on optimal solution is showed by numerical example.

Abstract

The need for organizations to have successful supply chain management so that, the goals of these organizations are attained is uncontested. However, the UN peacekeeping missions have had challenges ensuring the effectiveness of the supply chain. Therefore, this study sought to establish the effect of supply chain processes on the attainment of goals in the UN peacekeeping missions. Supply chain processes involved value creation, integration of key business processes and collaboration of the team members and other partners. The theoretical underpinning of the study was based on the Systems theory of Bertalanffy (1950) to view UNMISS as a system with supply chain management. The study adopted a descriptive case study research design. Descriptively, the study employed questionnaire and document reviews in the data collection process while analysis and presentation of findings involved the use of tables, graphs and charts. The study established that the supply chain processes are very important in the attainment of UN peacekeeping mission goals in South Sudan. These processes in terms of value creation, integration of key business processes and collaboration amongst stakeholders ensure that there is value for money through full utilization of resources, obedience of decisions made by the UN secretariat, employment of competent staff training and continued flow of their activities. The model results showed that value creation has a positive significant effect on the attainment of goals in the UN peacekeeping mission in South Sudan. The researchers recommended that the need to embrace technology is paramount when it comes to supply chain management and attainment of goals by the UN peacekeeping missions.
