Abstract

Hybridization is one way to produce Hibiscus rosa-sinensis L. which have various shape and colour of flowers. However, this is hampered by the possibility of self-incompatibility in Hibiscus rosa-sinensis L. To identify self-incompatibility in Hibiscus rosa-sinensis L. the simplest methods are used by observing the morphology and anatomy of fruit development, followed by a descriptive analysis of the data that has been obtained. The analysis results on crossing artificial pollination to 103 flowers of single pink Hibiscus rosa-sinensis L. show that the fruits survive until day 7 after pollination. Furthermore, the data show that there is no fruit, seed, and embryo development. Indeed the fruit turns yellow and finally shed. But the self artificial pollination shows that 35 seeds develop from 96 pollinations. The longer seed, which 13 days after pollination, grew up. The globular embryo could find on 3 DAP (day after pollination) fruit set, and the 9 DAP fruit set shows the development of heart shape. The result suggests that the phenomenon of self-incompatibility on Hibiscus rosa sinensis L. predicts as postzygotic self-incompatibility.

Abstract

Clarias meladerma Bleeker, 1846 is one of the native species in Indonesia. Aek Silom Lom is one of the habitats of catfish moma (C. meladerma) located in Labuhanbatu district. The study was conducted to analyze the long-weight relationship and the condition factors of catfish moma (C. meladerma) that live in Aek Silom Lom. Sample collected from October- December 2021. Sample was taken by angler. This weight length relationship is calculated using the linear allometric model (LAM), while the condition factor is calculated using the fulton formula (K) and relative weight (Wr). The growth pattern of catfish moma (C. meladerma) in Aek Silom lom is allometric negative with a value of b 0.99 (b<3), this means that the growth of the fish's body length is faster than the body weight. The fulton coefficient (K) is between 14,889 -17.1292 and the relative weight coefficient (wr) is in the range of 97.32805-100.0745, indicating that the condition of the catfish population (C. meladerma) is in balance and the water conditions of Aek Silom Lom can support the life of the catfish moma (C. meladerma)

Abstract

Basil and lime leaf extracts have chemical compounds that function to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and total bacteria on the palms of the hands. The purpose of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity of basil and lime leaf extracts against Staphylococcus aureus total bacteria on the palms of the hands. This experimental laboratory research used basil and lime leaves which were extracted using the partial maceration method. The formulation of the hand sanitizer spray combination of basil leaf extract with lime leaves is 1:2, 2:1, and 2:2. The formulation was tested for an antibacterial effect on Staphylococcus aureus and total bacteria on the palms. Data analysis used descriptive quantitative. The results showed that the extracts of basil leaves and lime leaves had an antibacterial activity of Staphylococcus aureus and total bacteria. Formulation 2:2 is the best formulation with bactericidal power of formula is 0 CFU/ml and total bacteria with antiseptic power of formula are 7 CFU. The study concluded that basil and lime leaf extracts were effective in killing Staphylococcus aureus and total bacteria on the palms of the hands.

Abstract

The content of extracts of green betel leaf and lemongrass leaves have antibacterial compounds to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus. The purpose of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity of the spray hand sanitizer preparation of a combination of green betel leaf extract and lemongrass against Staphylococcus aureus. This type of research is an experimental laboratory. Green betel leaves and lemongrass leaves were partially macerated, formulated to be hand sanitizers in a ratio of 1:2, 2:1, and 2:2. The formula was tested for antibacterial activity by the dilution method. The results showed that the hand sanitizer combination of green betel leaf extract and lemongrass had antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus with a bactericidal formula of 0 CFU/ml and total bacteria with an antiseptic formula of 0 CFU. From this research, it is known that the spray hand sanitizer combination of green betel leaf extract and lemongrass is effective in inhibiting and killing Staphylococcus aureus.
