Abstract

Kiai leadership is positioned as a central figure who not only plays a role in strategic decision-making, but also as a moral and spiritual role model that builds motivation, discipline, and work commitment of administrators. The role of kiai in instilling religious and ethical values is an important foundation in character building and work culture in pesantren. Meanwhile, quality management is a way to develop and implement work rules or standards so that the management of the institution becomes more efficient, clear, responsible, and sustainable. This study aims to examine the effect of kiai leadership and quality management on the performance of administrators in Islamic boarding schools, both partially and simultaneously. The approach used is quantitative with ex post facto research. A sample of 45 administrators was selected through simple random sampling technique, and data were collected using a questionnaire containing 40 statement items. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results showed that kiai leadership has a significant effect on board performance (sig. 0.007 < 0.05; t count 2.819 > 2.019), as well as quality management (sig. 0.000 < 0.05; t count 3.027 > 2.019). Simultaneously, both also have a significant effect on board performance (F count 6.116 > 2.83). This finding indicates that improved board performance can be achieved through effective kiai leadership and structured quality management implementation.

Abstract

Character education that cultivates love for the homeland is a fundamental pillar in shaping a generation with strong loyalty to the nation and state. The strengthening of this character is a collective responsibility involving families, schools, communities, and the government. The absence or negligence of any of these elements can negatively affect the formation of national identity among students. This study aims to explore strategies for enhancing nationalist character through cultural education and ideological literacy, particularly in response to the ideological threat posed by organizations such as Hizb ut-Tahrir Indonesia (HTI), whose doctrines contradict the ideology of Pancasila. This research employs a qualitative method with a library research approach by reviewing relevant academic literature. The analysis process includes data collection, reduction, display, and verification to ensure the validity of findings. The results indicate that fostering love for the homeland can be strengthened through the integration of local and national culture in the curriculum. Furthermore, students must be equipped with critical awareness of transnational ideologies such as HTI that are incompatible with the foundational values of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. Therefore, Islamic education holds a strategic role in building ideological resilience among the younger generation while preserving cultural heritage as part of national identity.

Abstract

This study shows the design and implementation of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) lesson plans in English language teaching. OBE focuses on measurable learning outcomes, which may improve English proficiency. The paper analyzes the development process of OBE-based lesson plans and their efficacy through empirical data, discussing implications for English language teaching. Findings indicate that OBE-based lesson planning enhances clarity in learning objectives, aligns assessments with targeted competencies, and encourages student-centered activities. An OBE framework enhances English language learning by promoting clear, competency-based objectives, interactive activities, and continuous assessment. OBE lesson plans guide students through targeted learning experiences that build relevant language skills. Implementing OBE in ELT requires significant investment in teacher training and resources to support lesson planning and assessment restructuring. Challenges like lecturer readiness and resource allocation are acknowledged. OBE in ELT has shown potential to improve teaching and learning by promoting competency-based instruction and student-centered activities. Addressing challenges like time constraints and professional development is crucial for this approach’s sustained success.

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools as traditional Islamic educational institutions play an important role in shaping the character and intelligence of students, but it is not uncommon to face obstacles in the aspect of funding, especially related to limited government support and conventional management of internal resources. One of the strategies implemented by the At-Taufiq Petapahan Islamic Boarding School to overcome these limitations is through the management of the Education Development Contribution Program (SPP) which is used not only for institutional operations, but also as a tool to improve the quality of student education. This study aims to analyze how the management of the SPP program is carried out in improving student learning achievement, focusing on aspects of planning, implementation, and program evaluation. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data was collected through in-depth interviews, direct observations, and administrative documentation involving pesantren leaders, treasurers, school committees, and madrasah heads. The results of the study show that the management of the SPP program is carried out in a structured and participatory manner, with a transparent and accountable reporting system. This program is able to provide better educational facilities, provide scholarships to underprivileged outstanding students, and support the development of curriculum and character-based learning activities. The conclusion of this study is that effective and sustainable management of tuition programs can improve students' learning achievement in both cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects, as well as encouraging the independence of Islamic boarding schools in managing their finances without full dependence on external funds. This research makes a real contribution to the discourse on Islamic education financial management and can be used as a reference for similar educational institutions in implementing a financing management model based on community participation.

Abstract

This study aims to explain primary school development strategies through the integration of SWOT analysis, Total Quality Management (TQM) approach, and charismatic leadership of the principal. The study was conducted at SDN 1 Banteran, Banyumas Regency, using a qualitative approach and case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation studies, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The results showed that SWOT analysis was used in a participatory and reflective manner to develop strategies based on internal strengths and responses to external challenges. TQM is implemented through a consistent PDCA cycle, active involvement of teachers and parents, and the strengthening of a comprehensive quality culture. The principal's charismatic leadership acts as a catalyst for change, bridging the gap between strategic diagnosis and policy implementation through inspirational communication, modeling and strengthening collective spirit. The integration of these three approaches forms an adaptive, collaborative and results-oriented strategic management model for primary schools. This research found a GAP in previous studies that tended to separate the roles of SWOT, TQM and charismatic leadership separately. This study closes the gap by presenting an integration that is operational and contextualized. The model of SDN 1 Banteran can be used as a reference for the development of other primary schools in building a quality, participatory and sustainable education system.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to explain the concept of quality culture in educational institutions, the role of principals, teachers, and education personnel in building a quality culture, as well as the obstacles and solutions in its implementation. Quality culture is a value system oriented towards improving the quality of education continuously by involving all elements of the school. The principal plays a strategic role in planning, supervision, and motivation; teachers play a role as implementers of quality culture through effective and character-based learning; while education personnel support the creation of an orderly and conducive school environment. However, the implementation of quality management in educational institutions still faces various obstacles such as a lack of understanding of the concept of quality, low teacher quality, limited funding, curriculum inconsistencies, and minimal support from related parties. To overcome these, strategies are needed such as improving the competence of educators, developing an integrated curriculum, effective communication, regular self-evaluation, and collaboration between schools, the government, and the community. The research method used is a literature study by collecting various sources such as books, journals, and related scientific articles. The results of the study indicate that the consistent and collaborative implementation of quality culture can improve the quality of education and shape students with character and high competitiveness.

Abstract

This study examines the strategy of managing students at the Miftahul Ulum Islamic Boarding School using a multicultural approach, including the role of the management structure and departmental work programmes in creating an inclusive environment. The purpose of this study is to describe the managerial patterns (planning, organising, directing, and supervising) applied by the institution in managing religious learning activities and to assess how multicultural values are internalised through the academic calendar and activities at Madrasah Diniyah. Miftahul Ulum Islamic Boarding School. Currently, the Miftahul Ulum Islamic Boarding School is led by KH. Ashfiya' Hamida Mujahid and the Chair of the Foundation is Ning Arifah Millati Agustina, M.H.I. The General Chair of the Boarding School is Agus H. Nur Muhammad Syaiful Rijal, M.H.I, while the position of Secretary is held by M. Wahyu Habibullaah. while the Treasurer is held by Ning Layyinah Nur Chodijah, Lc. This structure also includes various departments, including the Education Department, Health and Hygiene Department, Security Department, and Jam'iyyah Department, which implement work programmes such as prayer/recitation attendance and muhadhoroh activities as well as tambourine training. A qualitative research method with a case study approach was used; data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation studies, including academic calendar tables and documentation of madrasah activities. The results showed that student management at the Miftahul Ulum Islamic Boarding School had implemented a structured classical managerial cycle, integrating textbook material, Arabic, and regional languages, as well as organising religious and social activities as a means of inclusive character building and appreciation of diversity. Supporting factors include the leadership of the caretaker/head of the madrasah, support from the community/alumni, and the existence of BOSDA (Regional School Operational Assistance); while obstacles include limited facilities and infrastructure, disparities in student abilities, and the need to improve educators' capabilities in multicultural pedagogy. The practical implications of this study recommend strengthening the capacity of educators, developing SOPs for activities, and establishing a multicultural indicator evaluation system to improve the quality of management and sustainability of the program
