Abstract

Indonesian Institute of the Arts Surakarta has a unique library when compared to other universities. In addition to print collection, there is also a collection of audio and audiovisual. During this time, user still using the manual technology for use it. The computers technology can be an alternative solution to overcome the existing problems. The trick is to use a computer server that can accommodate all the collections, in addition to also use as a workstation computer library service providers. With this technology, users can use the digital library service that is fast, easy, and efficient. Open source technology in streaming software was chosen to embody the digital library.Keywords : library, collection, server, and streaming

Abstract

This study aims to determine the editing technique that is applied to the Rectoverso film and to know how editing can form storytelling in the Rectoverso film. The study used descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection used interviews, observation, and literatures. Data analysis was performed based on the theories on Miles and Huberman, namely data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusions, and verification. Type of editing applied in the film Rectoverso is continuity editing. This type of editing to ensure the achievement of sustainability of a series of stories in the scene of action. There are seven techniques and processes used to achieve the editing, namely Rules 1800, Shot/Reverse-shot, Establishing/reestablishing shot, eye line match, cutting point of view, cut-in, and match on action. The conclusions of the study that the use of continuity editing can form storytelling and supporting each scene in the movie. The splicing shot and scene shows the implicit message in it. Overall the Rectoverso film uses cross-cutting techniques or parallel editing. If the pattern is associated with the development of the story, then the movie Rectoverso uses three stages, namely, the stage of the beginning, middle, and closing. The goal is that the bond of causality (cause and effect) will be maintained because of the unity and development of the story is also determined by them. So, editing as one element in the Rectoverso film can also form the storytelling.Keywords: editing, Rectoverso, film, and story

Abstract

The hardcore genre musician identical to muscular and tattooed body, violence, and they are familiar with alcohol or drugs. It blurs social messages are actually owned by many hardcore music. Through the concept of compositing editing techniques, in particular the incorporation of some elements of video, graphic design, and photography, editors emphasize the visual aspects of the slide motion graphics and special effects that direct imaging to reconstruct the audience to the perceptions of the creator or a singer. Two music videos of the band Spirit of Life, entitled Life Change for Me dan StopTalking Start Working, a musical genre that worked in the hardcore music video to be accepted by society. Music video works it is appropriate to visualize social development as informative and educative character. Through audio-visual artwork hardcore music can be seen as the music that gave social messages.Keywords : hardcore, video, music, compositing, genre, and reconstruction.

Abstract

The architecture of the playground in the expression photography is an idea of visual fragment which are visualized become photography art. The characteristics on the deconstruction building consist of irregular lines and unique geometric forms inspire for creating photography art especially in line, form and color elements. The results of the creative processes are photos which are dominant with details or corners of playground building. Abstract

Local wisdom is a dialectic results of society in responding their surrounding conditions. The local wisdom visualized television programme of Indonesia Bagus in NET TV especially the episode of Sungai Utik Masyarakat Dayak Iban through the shooting techniques. The techniques consist of resolution (image size), angle, and camera moving. Abstract

The development of the mass media or broadcasting of terrestrial television in Indonesia is very rapid. Increasing number of terrestrial television stations in Indonesia makes the competition among television stations increasingly stringent. The terrestrial television requires a relatively high amount of revenue for operational costs. Advertising is one source of revenue. The advertisers will pair its ads in the program of interest by the public. Therefore, the television station competely to create programs that liked by the public. This is done so that the televison station can fight the competition. To determine whether the programs are interesting for public or not , the TV station uses the services of AGB Nielsen to measure whoever are viewing terrestrial television. The results of AGB Nielsen survey are rated and shared. The result of rating and share of the programs are liked by the public interest or not become a benchmark. The higher the rating and share program means the higher the interest of the public to watch the program. That became a problem and interesting to be discussed, in which in reality many programs are reprimanded by the KPI (Indonesian Broadcasting Commission) even in fact they have a high ratings. Whereas the program that gets a reprimand from the KPI is a program that can be said to be problematic and it cannot be imagined what happen if the problematic program maintained by the television station is on the pretext of a high rating. Facing this kind of television, viewers required to be more selective and critical of television, because media owner of television defends its economic interests. Therefore, the audience should have the skills of media literacy. Abstract

Most of the Indonesian society form new interaction network with the western lifestyle, so indirectly it created the consumetive society in which everthing was consumed from foreign countries as the effects of the diffucion culture. That effects inflicted the Indonesian culture become eroded step by step. Therefore, creative director is needed for producing the television programme which can inform and distribute knowledge about diversity of Indonesian culture. In fulfilling these needs, the audio visual work was created with the emphasis on beauty shots of Indonesian culture, namely clip video exploration in temple surroundings, advertisement exploration of wayang and Indonesian cosmetic products. It is hoped that this television programme can educate the society on how to preserve the Indonesian culture and not easily influenced by foreign cultures.Keywords: creative, television, Nusantara, and directing

Abstract

This research tried to know the influence of Korean drama entitled My LoveFrom The Stars toward Indonesian drama Kau yang Berasal dari Bintang. This research constituted as qualitative descriptive research with those two dramas as the objects. The findings showed that the Indonesian drama Kau yang Berasal dari Bintang drama has similarity with the Korean drama My Love From The Star in the storyline, setting, and costumes. In the storyline, both dramas used a historical time describing love story between alien and human. In the costumes, Kau yang Berasal dari Bintang, used traditional costumes like Kebaya (to show the setting time in 400 years ago) and in the My LoveFrom The Stars used Hanbok as a traditional costumes too. The similarities in the setting are both of them used outdoor area (to describe pre-modernism) and crowded city (to describe modernization area).Keywords : Korean drama, storyline, costume, dan setting.

Abstract

The documentary film entitled Di Balik Dongeng Si Kancil tells about high dedication and awareness of an artist named Ki Ledjar Subroto in the development of pewayangan (shadow puppet) at once as an environmental conservationist. Wayang Kancilwas used to develop and find out strategies to educate young generation especially children in the way of how to understand the wayang. Wayang Kancil is a kind of wayang which can also be used as education medium in understanding and conserving environment. This creating used concept of “direct cinema” in producing documentary film entitled DiBalik Dongeng Kancil. The film shows wayang medium can be used as learning medium. Film recording emphasized actions spontaneously and naturally to impress proximity between subjects and audiences. Structure and narrative aspects in conveying information in this documentary film expressed using linear pattern through visual dialog of the subjects or informants, while narration by narrator is not emerged. Therefore, the visualization of the subjects in the interview constitutes an important part in describing information in every scene or event in this documentary film about the importance of conserving Indonesian culture.Keywords: Wayangkancil, documentary, film, and direct cinema

Abstract

Three-color photography is a technique used to produce color photography in the past. Because the shooting is not simultaneous then this technique producesan image that is not perfect at moving objects such as lines of color on the edges of moving objects or shadows are brightly colored when objects move quickly. A weakness in these techniques will be explored and done intentionally shooting at moving objects to get different effects and artistic in a work of art photography.Keywords: photography, exploration, motion, color, and effects.
