Abstract

The research studied about movie entitled Sang Kiai created by Rako Prijanto. The movie achieved predicate of the best film and the best director in the Indonesia Film Festival 2013 in Semarang. Research problems in the study focused on style of directing “impressionism” in Sang Kiai movie with two aspects namely narrative and cinematic. Both aspects can used for reference in understanding of narrating a fiction movie. The objective of the research was to find out style of impressionism directing in the Sang Kiai movie as a technique of narrating film. The study applied the descriptive qualitative method with the researcher as a key instrument to collect data and review of related literature to support the style of impressionism in the film ‘Sang Kiai’. The data analysis process was conducted through some steps: data collection, data reduction, data analysis, and conclusion. The findings of the research showed that the Sang Kiai movie was a kind of impressionism film in narrating the story. In the display, it was emphasized more on the cinematography and editing to give perception on the characters in the movie, in order that it achieved the narration of the story through narrative and cinematic aspects.Kata Kunci: Style, impresionism, Sang Kiai, and movie

Abstract

Nowadays,the influences of televise program to audience is stronger.Therefore,media owners have to make some strategies to captivate the forum. Programs areincluding entertainment, news information, and education. Compared with the past,entertainment program is bigger than education program. Moreover, there are SingerGot Tallent programs broadcasted on televise stations, for example RCTI with RisingStar Indonesia program.This program was adapted by Rising Star from United State.Thisprogram uses telephone and vote to get the applicants or new singers. Vote as ameditation from audience to determine the applicants in the next step.Keywords: Rising Star Indonesia, RCTI, vote meditation, and new singer.

Abstract

Family portraits represent gender ideology of a family,and even more widely or asocio-culturally construct society.Family portraits are usually saved and displayed in aconcrete space, on the media wall of a living room, or a family room. Advances intechnology information, bearing new space called the virtual space or cyberspace,havemade it possible for family portraits be displayed in the cyberspace. The researchexplains how gender constructions is displayed through the representation of the familyportraits.This research uses qualitative methods and semiotic approach for its analysis.The results show that gender ideology,normative values,and heteronormativity in thefamily portrait are represented by the position, gestures, clothing, photography, andphotographic composition (aesthetics).Furthermore,is also shown that cyberspace hasbecome a space that manifests gender ideology as well contributes to the familyconstruction. Family portraits do not always display the representation of normativegender roles,but also a family portrait can negotiate with the values that are considerednon-normative ideology.Keywords : Family portrait, representation, and gender

Abstract

Every year, films adapted from novels have developed significantly. However,there are many differences from their novels when the films screened, such as thereduction and addition of the storyline and characters, and also some variations.Thecreativity of the films toward their novels is because of the audio-visual medium,whilenovel caused by linguistic medium.Thus,there are certain plots that can be raised well inthe novel, but cannot appear in the film, or vice versa. This research examines theelement of narrative changes that covers the story, plot, characters, andcharacterizations in the movie entitled Life of Pi using ecranisation approach.Ecranisationtheory is an adapting novel to film that causes three changes; shrinking, adding, andvaried changes. This research adopts qualitative research method. The data wascollected by observation and literature study.The results showed that there were a lotof changes in this film include shrinking, that is the reduction and elimination of someplots,as well as the removal of the several characters.Also,there were some additionsand some changes.The function of the varied changes in this film is to create the processof causality consistently and also as a teaser.Keywords : Novel,film,ecranisation,and Life of Pi

Abstract

The focus of this research is dramatic structure and animation film aesthetic,The LittleKrishna. The study of this animation uses estetic interpretation analysis, while the type ofresearch is descriptive qualitative with fourth processes in collecting the data, namely datacollection, reduction, data analysis, and conclusion.The result shows that applying dramaticstructure (exposition, inciting-action, conflication, crisis, climax, resolution, and conclusion) inthe The Little Krishna describes the story well,whereas colour and genre as a point of interest inthis film.In addition,unity appears in the first segment telling not only about Krishna who lives inVrindavan village but also in the rural area itself. On the other hand, complexity seems in thirdsegment with multiple conflicts where Krisna was against both King Kamsa and God Indra.Besides, intensity appears in the last segment tells about Krishna who was serious in Vrindavanvillage to prevent the Kaliya snake attacks.Keywods : Animation,The Little Krishna,dramatic structure,dan aesthetic

Abstract

Nowadays, Omnibus is the soap opera program which rarely appears on the televiseprogram in Indonesia. With soap opera program, there are so many short movies which arebroadcasted by televise stations. But, the story of short movies should be repackaged. Abstract

Notebook and Netbook contain several peripherals such us interface audio in/out, portLAN, WiFi, Port USB and the integrated camera (WebCam). WebCam can be used forteleconference through GoogleTalk, Skype andYahoo Messenger. But, the facilities of streamingare the scarcest benefit of WebCam as a CCTV application of digital software. In addition, tooptimize the integrated camera, it is needed some choices to find the appropriate things, theyare comparing streaming software,observing the same objects,recording for one minutes,andlive broadcasted. Therefore, the results of observation show that Unreal Live Server hasexcellence capabilities, because it has faster streaming , the password facilities, authentication,and blocking access.Keywords:Interface,webcam,teleconference,and streaming

Abstract

Film Cycle ofViolence tells us a tale of a wife named Jelita Nawangsari who experiencedmarital violence by her own husband.Like its namesake title,the pattern of violence itself doesnot necessarily happen all the time but recourses alongside moments of peace,even pleasantful.In this film, languages no longer merely exist as a tool to portray a reality, but also to defineimages of a media reality within the minds of common folk.Through film languages ( symbols ),verbals not only took form of written and spoken words,but also of pictures,photos,graphics,movements and etc. to allow the media ( film ) to become reality – constructing apparel, asperceived by the artist.Keywords: Film,pattern,the cycle of violence,film languages,and reality

Abstract

This research is to know what Langen Swara program broadcasting in Jogja TV as atalkshow program which has locality culture contents based on its artistics. The purpose of thisresearch describes the artistic elements which are combined with locality culture.The form ofthis research is descriptive qualitative and basic research.Then,for the first time data is collecteduntil ready to summarized.
