Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the foundation structure of the Crane Electrification Substation building in Belawan, Medan, against the soil bearing capacity and foundation settlement. The study was conducted through literature studies, field surveys, and structural analysis using SAP2000 software. The evaluation includes the pile bearing capacity, pile group efficiency, and analysis of single and group pile settlement. The results of the analysis show that the pile cap configuration with 8 piles provides the best performance with a total settlement of 65 mm, still within the tolerance limit as an "isolated foundation". While the configuration with 6 piles shows a settlement of 84 mm, which exceeds the limit without tie beams, but is still acceptable if the foundation is considered a "raft" system with tie beam support. This study emphasizes the importance of choosing the right foundation configuration to ensure the stability and safety of the structure.

Abstract

Public buildings serve vital functions in supporting community services, yet they often experience quality degradation due to aging, weather conditions, and limited maintenance budgets. This study aims to conduct a comparative analysis of four public building maintenance case studies, each with different functions: administrative and educational dormitory buildings, traditional markets, churches, and elementary schools. The methods employed involve various Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) approaches. The comparative findings reveal that each method yields specific and adaptive outcomes tailored to the functional characteristics of the four public building types. The key findings indicate that maintenance planning based on priority and actual damage leads to more targeted outcomes, and highlight the need for a multidimensional approach in public building maintenance policy.

Abstract

Digital transformation in career guidance services is becoming increasingly important along with dynamic changes in the work landscape, digitalisation of industries, and more complex career readiness demands in the digital era. Despite the increasing use of technology in career guidance, there is still a gap in the systematic understanding of effective digital transformation models and how the role of career counsellors changes in the digital context. This Systematic Literature Review (SLR) used the PRISMA methodology to analyse the current literature on digital transformation in career guidance. A systematic search was conducted on the Scopus database with predefined keywords, resulting in 67 records which were then filtered into 7 high-quality articles published between 2019-2025. Findings show that digital transformation significantly improves the effectiveness of career guidance services through increased accessibility, personalisation of AI-based services, and the use of digital platforms. Four main models were identified: Cloud-based Career and Educational Guidance System (CEGS), integrated digital platforms, hybrid systems, and AI/machine learning-based systems. The role of career counsellors evolved from traditional information providers to digital facilitators requiring technological competence.

Abstract

The growing complexity of infrastructure projects, such as railway construction, necessitates precise tools to monitor progress and accurately predict completion times. Traditional methods often fail to capture real-time schedule dynamics, resulting in ineffective project management. This study employs earned value management (EVM) and earned schedule (ES) to predict the project duration for a double-track railway initiative. Performance metrics for scheduling, such as SPI and SPI(t), as well as forecasting tools, including EAC(t), IEAC, and IEAC(t), were analyzed over 28 weeks. The results demonstrate that SPI(t)-based methods offer more stable and realistic duration forecasts than conventional SPI-based approaches, particularly during periods of poor performance. IEAC values fluctuated sharply during the project's early and middle stages, exceeding 800 days, while IEAC(t) remained consistent, aligning closely with actual progress. After the implementation of contract addenda in Weeks 21 and 27, both indicators improved significantly. SPI and SPI(t) exceeded 1.0, and the forecasted completion date aligned closely with the original plan. The study concludes that the ES method improves schedule forecasting accuracy and provides better insight into project performance trends.

Abstract

Bengkulu is an area with the potential risk of the Mentawai Pagai Megathrust subduction earthquake; it is necessary to evaluate the bearing capacity and foundation settlement of the building. This study aims to analyse the influence of variations in dimensions and cross-sectional shapes on the bearing capacity and foundation settlement of the Scada building using the Poulos and Davis method, the Reese and Wright method, the Luciano Decourt method, and the finite element method. Based on the results of the Standard Penetration Test (SPT), the influence of variations in shape, namely square and circular, with dimensions of 300 mm, 400 mm, and 500 mm, as well as depths of 7m, 9m, 11m, and 13m, affects the bearing capacity and foundation settlement. The analysis was conducted by comparing the bearing capacity and settlement of pile foundations in the Scada building using various methods. The analysis results show that the bearing capacity, deflection magnitude, and smallest settlement are below the permitted settlement limit, i.e., less than 10% of the foundation dimensions. The comparison between static and numerical methods, or the Bearing Capacity Ratio (BCR) approaching 1, is more efficient and safer to use. In this analysis, the BCR value closest to 1 was obtained for a 500 mm foundation using the Reese and Wright method at a depth of 9 m, yielding a bearing capacity of 312.04 tonnes for a single pile and 207.69 tonnes for a pile group.

Abstract

Structural irregularities significantly affect the seismic performance of buildings, especially in high-risk earthquake zones. This study aims to analyse the influence of plan and vertical irregularities on structural response parameters, including lateral forces, shear forces, overturning moments, inter-story drifts, and fundamental periods. The object of study is a ten-story U-shaped reinforced concrete office building, modelled using ETABS software. Two structural systems are compared: the Special Moment Resisting Frame (SMRF) and the Dual System (a combination of SMRF and shear walls). The analysis follows the linear response spectrum method based on the Indonesian seismic code SNI 1726:2019. The results indicate that structural irregularities increase the concentration of internal forces and displacements in critical structural components, raising the potential for localized failure. The Dual System demonstrates better performance in controlling deformation and distributing seismic loads more evenly compared to the SMRF system is 20 percent. These findings highlight the importance of selecting an appropriate structural system and accounting for irregularities early in the design process to enhance seismic resilience.

Abstract

There has to be a steady supply of skilled workers, particularly in the field of vocational education, if science and technology are to keep up with the current rate of advancement. Limited learning facilities and an inadequate teaching staff are only two of the many problems that vocational education in Indonesia continues to confront. The purpose of this research is to use the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) approach to create STEM-focused Student Worksheets for the Building Information and Modeling Design (DPIB) course at technical institutions, with a focus on two-dimensional (2D) architectural drawing. Analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation are the steps that make up the ADDIE development model, which was used as the research technique in this study. Thirty students from the eleventh grade at SMK Negeri 11 Malang participated in the study. Questionnaires on students' learning requirements, validation sheets from experts, and readability exams administered to students were all used to gather data. Descriptive quantitative methods were used for data analysis. With an average expert validation score of 90.20% and a student readability score of 88.34%, the created worksheets were deemed extremely valid and intelligible, according to the findings. These results show that the worksheets improve students' knowledge and abilities in architectural drawing as measured by industry standards. Thus, STEM-focused PjBL-based worksheets constitute a viable and efficient medium for vocational education instruction.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the correlation between specific gravity and compressive strength of conventional bricks and those mixed with acacia wood ash and carbide lime ash as environmentally friendly additives. The research program involved preparing brick specimens with a composition of 85% clay and 15% additive, combined with water contents of 20 ml, 25 ml, and 35 ml. The specimens were molded, air-dried for 7 and 14 days, and subsequently tested for specific gravity and compressive strength. The results indicate that bricks incorporating acacia wood ash exhibited the highest specific gravity and compressive strength compared to conventional bricks and bricks mixed with carbide welding ash. The maximum specific gravity of 5.967 g/cm³ and the highest compressive strength of 12.603 MPa were achieved by acacia ash bricks at 14 days of curing. A positive correlation was observed between specific gravity and compressive strength, indicating that increased density significantly enhances mechanical performance. A positive correlation between density and compressive strength suggests that higher density is associated with greater mechanical strength. This study demonstrates the potential of using acacia ash waste as a filler to enhance brick strength without requiring combustion. The application of acacia ash not only enhances mechanical properties but also reduces energy consumption and production time, supporting the development of sustainable and environmentally friendly brick manufacturing technologies.
