Abstract

The increasing competition in digital financial services challenges salespersons in traditional microfinance institutions (MFIs) to adopt innovative strategies for survival. This intense pressure has contributed to the growing trend of quiet quitting behavior among salespersons. This research aims to investigate the impact of quiet quitting on innovative work behavior (IWB), with knowledge hoarding and work procrastination as mediating variables. Data were collected through a survey of 557 MFI employees across five districts in Central Java, Indonesia. This study used Smart PLS 4 to examine the proposed hypotheses. The results demonstrate that quiet quitting negatively relates to salespersons’ innovative work behavior. Quiet quitting also has a positive effect on knowledge hoarding and work procrastination, both of which negatively impact innovative work behavior. In addition, based on the evaluation of indirect effects, this study reveals that the association between quiet quitting and innovative work behavior is mediated by knowledge hoarding and work procrastination. This research addresses an important gap in the literature by investigating the influence of quiet quitting on innovative work behavior. Although scholars have investigated both constructs independently, their direct empirical linkage remains insufficiently explored within previous studies. By incorporating knowledge hoarding and work procrastination as mediating variables, this study develops a more comprehensive model to understand the mechanisms through which quiet quitting impacts employees’ innovation. The findings also provide valuable insights for MFI managers to address quiet quitting and foster a more innovative sales workforce.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the geopolitical dynamics in the South China Sea (SCS) region in relation to Indonesia's maritime security, viewed from the perspective of defense politics. The geopolitical dynamics in the SCS region are driven by China's claims through its Nine-Dash Line (NDL). China, as described by Cohen's Four Pillars (2015) as a country with extraordinary military power, has factually been willing to use it to legitimize and defend its claims. The surplus of economic power, besides being spent on modernizing its defense forces, is then utilized in the form of investment through the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) policy. These two pillars have become China's strength to dominate the SCS region. This study concludes that Indonesia needs to develop a defense political strategy as a soft power to face the major challenges of geopolitical dynamics in the SCS region. This defense politics can optimize ASEAN as first-track diplomacy and other activities as second-track diplomacy.

Abstract

This study aims to map the socio-economic conditions of the Indigenous Muyu Tribe as a basis for empowerment, reviewed from the perspective of Human Resource Management (HRM). The concept of empowerment used is based on the ideas of Amartya Sen (1999) and Robert Chambers, which emphasize the enhancement of capabilities as the key to empowerment. A community that is empowered socio-economically will have a strong resilience against threats. This study uses a case study design approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and document study. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. This study finds that the current socio-economic conditions of the Muyu Tribe are caused by various interrelated factors, which in this study are limited to the factors of limited access to education and livelihoods faced by the Muyu Tribe. Geographical factors and the tribe’s worldview or beliefs are discussed briefly. This study concludes that improving the capabilities of the Muyu Tribe can be an alternative form of empowerment that can be implemented to improve the socio-economic conditions of the Muyu Indigenous People from the HRM perspective, carried out through four (4) empowerment approaches: 1) human empowerment, 2) economic empowerment, 3) environmental empowerment, and 4) institutional empowerment. A socially and economically empowered Muyu Tribe will have high resilience in facing threats. Enhancing the capabilities of the Muyu Tribe through the four (4) empowerment approaches requires the role of external empowerment agents, namely: the central government, local government, education activists who understand local culture, and the private sector. This study contributes to the enrichment of HRM and defense economics studies, as well as the practice of empowerment and the formulation of community empowerment policies by making the cultural factors of local communities one of the determining variables.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the development of sustainable tourism destinations in Sinjai Regency and analyze the roles of actors within the Quintuple Helix framework. Utilizing a descriptive qualitative approach, data is collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis, which are then analyzed interactively. The results indicate that implementing the Quintuple Helix concept positively impacts tourist attraction, as the synergy among government, academics, business actors, civil society, and the environment strengthens the tourism ecosystem. Innovation in facilities, including accommodation and accessibility, is crucial for enhancing tourist appeal. However, challenges related to infrastructure and competition with privately managed attractions must be addressed to achieve optimal development. Effective management of tourist sites is essential for supporting local businesses. Tourism development has the potential to improve community welfare through economic growth, relying on cooperation among stakeholders, capacity building, and sustainable resource management. Increased training for business actors and responsive policies from the Tourism and Culture Office are necessary. By involving all elements of the Quintuple Helix approach and adhering to sustainability principles, Sinjai Regency can become an attractive tourist destination that enhances community welfare while supporting cultural and environmental preservation. Future research should analyze the influence of sustainable tourism on the economic, social, and environmental aspects of the local community to provide recommendations for formulating more effective sustainable development policies and programs.

Abstract

In Indonesia, Islamic philanthropy is currently underutilized. Many studies show that, if the Productive Waqf Movement is well developed, it can strengthen community resilience, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic crisis. This sociological research aims to explore the social practice scheme of productive waqf-based culinary business during the Covid-19 pandemic located at Ampera Restaurant, Haii Coffee Shop, and Cuankie and Batagor Serayu in collaboration with Waqf Pro 99 Sinergi Foundation. This research was carried out through qualitative methods with purposively selected informants, including the CEO of Waqf Pro 99 Sinergi Foundation, managers, and employees of the culinary business. Data collection techniques through observation, interviews, literature studies, and documentation. Meanwhile, descriptive analysis with a sociological approach to development and religion reveals the phenomenon of productive Waqf in the Islamic frame. The results showed the complexity of the culinary business social practice scheme within the framework of the Faith-Based Organization, where the culinary business is a new institutional trend in the parameters of social practice. So that this study also produces several strategies for strengthening the economic activity of the culinary business through productive waqf management.

Abstract

Studies regarding e-Government readiness have become a mushrooming issue in developing countries. To contribute to discussions in the context of the Indonesian government, this research was designed to analyze 1 specifically) the level of readiness of the Magelang City Government, Indonesia, in implementing e-government from a government model perspective, and 2) obstacles in developing e-government-based public services in the city. Research data was collected through in-depth interviews, documentation, and observation. We used qualitative content analysis to analyze the data. The findings of this research contribute to finding the root cause of the government's unpreparedness to implement smart governance-based public services in Indonesia. The research results show that E-Government is defined as an effort to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of public services by using information and communication technology. The implementation of e-government by the Magelang City Government aims to provide more effective public services. However, the findings show that the implementation of e-government is not yet efficient because it needs to be improved at the interaction stage. Factors inhibiting the development of e-government in Magelang City include very limited human resources with IT qualifications (only 17 people), inadequate archivist staff, disturbed vision, and a strategy that does not have information system integration management in each Regional Apparatus Organization.
