Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilakukan bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian probiotik pada media pemeliharaan terhadap kualitas air dan pertumbuhan benih ikan baung (Mystus nemurus). Rancangan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan 4 perlakuan 3 ulangan. Perlakuan yang diberikan adalah perbedaan jumlah probiotik yang ditambahkan yaitu yang terdiri dari perlakuan tanpa penambahan probiotk, perlakuan dengan penambahan probiotik sebanyak 0,5 ml/L, 1 ml/L, 1,5 ml/L. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kualitas air pada masa penelitian tidak berpengaruh dan menghasilkan pertumbuhan panjang mutlak 6,30 cm, pertumbuhan berat mutlak 7,60 gr, survival rate 100%, laju pertumbuhan spesifik 4,78% dan rasio konfersi pakan 3,3%.Kata kunci : Ikan baung, kualitas air, probiotik.ABSTRACTThis research was conducted to find out the effect of probiotics administration on maintenance media on water quality and growth of baung fish seed (Mystus nemurus). The design used in this study was a Complete Randomized Design with 4 treatments of 3 repeats. The treatment given is the difference in the amount of probiotics added that consists of treatment without the addition of probiotk, treatment with the addition of probiotics as much as 0.5 ml / L, 1 ml / L, 1.5 ml / L. The results showed that water quality during the study had no effect and resulted in absolute long growth of 6.30 cm, absolute weight growth of 7.60 gr, survival rate of 100%, specific growth rate of 4.78% and feed confetti ratio of 3.3%. Abstract

Utilisation of plant proteins to replace fish meal in shrimp feeds has become an important consideration because fish meal is becoming more expensive due to increasing demand worldwide. The potential use of palm kernel meal (PKM) in this study to substitute fish meal in the Pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) diets was evaluated by conducting a 90-day feeding trial. Shrimp juveniles with an initial average weight of 0.5 g, protein content of 10.74±0.70% were randomly distributed into five treatments in triplicates. Four isonitrogenous (approximately 35% protein) diets were formulated to contain 0% (D0), 25% (D25), 50% (D50) and 75% (D75) of PKM replacement and a commercial feed served as control treatment (Control). Results from this study revealed that shrimps fed D25 were comparable with those fed with Control as there was no significant difference (p>0.05) in weight gain and specific growth rate (SGR) between the groups. However, PKM inclusions above 50% showed detrimental effects on the growth performance. The highest total protein percent was observed in shrimp tissues fed with D25 (67.59±0.87%) and D75 showed the lowest protein among the treatments (57.4±0.63%) (p<0.05). Total lipid content was observed high in shrimps fed with Control (4.33±2.96%) and decreased with PKM replacement levels. The highest carbohydrate was found in shrimps fed with D75 (16.75±0.04%) and the lowest was found in shrimps fed with D25 (14.67±0.07%). When PKM is utilised to replace FM, a limit of 25% level should be recommended.

Abstract

Catfish (Clarias sp.) is a freshwater fish that is widely cultivated because it is a leading commodity. Increased production of catfish resulted in extra area of cultivated land and water use. The technology suitable to be applied is aquaponic system. In addition to saving land and water use, Aquaponic is also improving business efficiency through the utilization of nutrients from food remains and fish metabolism. Water quality is an important factor for the success of cultivation. Maintenance catfish with the addition of probiotics in aquaponic system can be a solution for maintaining water quality, because it contains bacteria that can increase nitrite to nitrate changes that can be utilized for growth of plants and do not poison the fish. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of different probiotics in the aquaponic system towards growth rate and survival rate of catfish. The method that used in this research is experimental with completely randomized design (four  treat and five repeated) are P0 (control), P1 (probiotic A), P2 (probiotic B) and P3 (probiotic C). Analysis of data processed using Analysis of Variance. If there are significant differences then continued Duncan's Multiple Range Test. The results showed that the giving of probiotics in the aquaponic system is significantly different (p <0.05). The final conclusion is that the addition of probiotics in  aquaponic system affect the growth rate and survival rate of catfish. The highest specific growth rate (0.025%/ day) and the highest survival rate (77.8%) contained in the P2 treatment. The lowest specific growth rate (0.019% /day) and the lowest survival rate (64.4%) contained in P0 treatment (control). Keywords : Aquaponic, Catfish, Probiotic, Growth Rate, Survival Rate, Clarias sp.

Abstract

Fresh water prawns are commodities freshwater fish that have economic value, particularly in Indonesia. As the development of tourism and a variety of culinary consumption in Indonesia fresh water prawns and open export opportunities. Fresh water prawns, high cholesterol is 385,03 mg/dl. Excessive cholesterol in the body will lead to a condition called atherosclerosis condition is the forerunner of heart disease and stroke. One of the efforts that must be undertaken to produce low cholesterol aquaculture products are engineered feed, supplementation with fatty acids derived from marine organisms. Through the fatty acid supplementation, it is expected that the levels of triglycerides and low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL) will decline so it can raise levels of high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL). Analysis of data using statistical test of Variant Analysis of variance (ANOVA) to determine the effect of treatment. If there are differences among the treatments continued with Duncan Multiple Range Test to determine the best treatment. Analysis of Variant (ANOVA) result a significant difference (p<0,05). The main parameters of total cholesterol, high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL) and low density lipoprotein (LDL) meat prawns tested at the Laboratory of Physiology, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya. Parameter supporters observed that the maintenance of water quality fresh water prawns. Provision of cod liver oil at a dose of 12% can lower total cholesterol with the lowest levels of the other treatments, with an average of 88.3125 mg/dl. Provision of cod liver oil at a dose of 12% can reduce low density lipoprotein (LDL) levels were lowest from other treatments with an average of 197.72 mg/dl. Provision of cod liver oil at a dose of 12% can increase high density lipoprotein (HDL) levels were highest from other treatments with an average of 128.84 mg/dl. Keywords : Cholesterol, Low density lipoprotein (LDL), High density lipoprotein (HDL)

Abstract

Intensive aquaculture systems causing heavy reliance on the use of artificial feed (Heptarina et al., 2010). Feed is a crucial component to the success of shrimp farming (Soemardjati and Suriawan, 2006). According to Haryanto and Djajanegara (1993) lamtoro leaves contain protein, calcium and energy. The content of the leaves lamtoro a source of protein for feed ingredients in this plant are essential amino acids lysine and leucine were very high (D'Mello and Fraser, 1981). The consideration for the selection of feed materials should be done in accordance with the provisions of the feed material that is readily available, low cost, high nutrient content and do not compete with humans (Handajani et al., 2010). According to Matthew (1993), leucaena as forage quality has not been used optimally and not much commercialized. Lamtoro a potential biological resources to be used as feed to the waste generated sufficient forage nutritional value (Widiastuti, 2007). Research on the use of fermented flour substitution lamtoro leaf is a matter that needs to be done because of the use of fermented flour lamtoro leaf is expected to improve the quality of feed and make it as an alternative feed ingredient that can be given to increase aquaculture production. This research is the experimental method using a completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments and five replications. The results of this study will be analyzed descriptively in the form of data and tables. Data obtained, processed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) to determine the effect of different treatments applied if real, then continued with Duncan's Multiple Range Test (Duncan's Multiple Range Test) with a 5% error rate to determine the best treatment. Keywords: Feed, Vaname Shrimp, Fermentation, Substitution, Leucaena Leaf, Protein Retention, Retention Energy.

Abstract

Catfish (Clarias sp.) is a type of consumption fish have promising prospects because it has a high enough degree of market uptake. The high market demand which motivated farmers to develop farming aquaponics technologies. Aquaponics, in principle, in addition to conserve land and water use also increases business efficiency through the utilization of nutrients from food remains and fish for plant metabolism. Fish farming with high stocking density causes a decrease in water quality due to the accumulation of organic matter buildup of organic materials causing toxins in the water because there is ammonia (NH3) and nitrite (N02) on the water. The threshold for catfish ammonia content is <0.8 mg /L. Alternative to overcome the problem of water quality in aquaculture is the addition of probiotic. Probiotic contain several types of microorganisms that can help the process of decomposition of ammonia as a bioremediation agent for water quality control. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of different probiotics in the aquaponics system to water quality. The method that used in this research is experimental with completely randomized design (four  treat and five repeated) are P0 (control), P1 (probiotic A), P2 (probiotic B) and P3 (probiotic C). Analysis of data processed using Analysis of Variance. If there are significant differences then continued Duncan's Multiple Range Test. The results showed that the giving of probiotics in the aquaponic system is significantly different (p<0.05).The final conclusion is that the addition of probiotic in the aquaponic system affect the water quality. Based on the results of statistical analysis showed that the levels of ammonia, nitrite and nitrate was lowest for the treatment of P2 is 0.0204 mg /L, 0.012 mg /L and 2.731 mg /L. Abstract

Catfish is one of the fish that has a high economical value. Catfish is accepted by society easily because of its advantages. These advantages include fast growing, good adaptive behavior, good taste, high nutrient, and cheap price. One of the factors that determine the success of aquaculture is the availability of adequate food, both quantity and quality. There are several alternative feed ingredients that can be used in the preparation of feed. One of these feed ingredients is azolla flour made from Azolla sp. plant. Azolla sp. plant contains large amount of protein up to 28,12% of its dried weight. Selection of the base material feed using Azolla sp. based on the research results Handajani (2000) which declare that the protein content Azolla sp. which is quite high, namely 28.12% dry weight. The addition of Azolla sp. in catfish feed formulation is expected to improve retention of energy and lower feed conversion ratio. The purpose of this study was to determine the addition of Azolla sp. in feed formulations affect the retention of energy and feed conversion ratio catfish. This research was conducted in July-August in the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine University Airlangga. Research method used in the study was an experimental method with complete random planning. It included five treatments and four repetitions. Treatments that were used included azolla flour inclusion 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% at the formulated feed. Data analysis that was used included statistic and descriptive. The result of the research shows that energy retention among treatments does not have significant difference. On the other hand, the feed conversion ratio also does not have significant difference. It can be concluded that Azolla sp. inclusion in the catfish feed formulation affects nothing to energy retention and feed conversion ratio.  Keyword : Azolla sp., Clarias sp., Energy Retentiom, Feed Convertion Ratio

Abstract

The research was title The Effect of Pregnant Mare Serum Gonadotropin (PMSG) Pure and Combinations against Gonadosomatik Index, Hepatosomatic Index Silver Pompano (Trachinotus blochii). The purpose of this research was to obtain the best hormone treatment to increase the gonadosomatic index and Hepatosomatic Index. This research used a Completely Randomized Design with 3 treatments and 3 replicates of fish. The treatments include Control (0.5 ml NaCl), PMSG (20 IU kg-1 fish body weight) and PG600 (20 IU. Kg-1 fish body weight). Parameters calculated include Gonadosomatic Index (GSI), Hepatosomatic Index (HSI) and Absolute Growth. The best results were PG600 treatment with Gonadosomatic Index (0.12±0.06), Hepatosomatic Index (2.29±0.15 %) and Absolute Growth    (85±31.32 g) for 4 weeks. The conclusion of this study is the provision of pure PMSG and combination with a dose of      20 IU. Kg-1 body weight can  increase gonadosomatik index, hepatosomatic index and absolute growth of Silver Pompano fish. Keywords : Silver Pompano Fish, PMSG, PG600, Gonadosomatic Index

Abstract

Fluctuating asymmetry of the bilateral meristic characteristic is one of the simple methods that can be used to determine the stability of an individual fish development. This study aims to provide quantitative information about the level of asymmetry of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) in Dunia Air Independent Training Center Marine and Fisheries, Banyuwangi through bilateral meristic characteristic observation.  A total of 120 fish samples (5-7 cm) were measured in this study. Four bilateral meristic characters were calculated i.e. the number of soft pectoral fins, number of soft ventral fins, number of scales on the lateral line up and down. The results show that the highest value of the fluctuating asymmetry of magnitude (FAm) and fluctuating asymmetry of number (FAn) was obtained at the number of scales on the lateral line up those are 2.14 and 0.78, respectively. Meanwhile, the lowest FAm and FAn values obtained from the soft ventral fins which were 1.69 and 0.78, respectively. The sum of the total value of fluctuating asymmetry of each bilateral meristic characteristic was observed. The overall FAm value was 7.83 and the overall FAn value was 2.99.Keywords: fluctuating asymmetry, Nile tilapia, PMKP Dunia Air
