Abstract

Fresh water prawns are commodities freshwater fish that have economic value, particularly in Indonesia. As the development of tourism and a variety of culinary consumption in Indonesia fresh water prawns and open export opportunities. Fresh water prawns, high cholesterol is 385,03 mg/dl. Excessive cholesterol in the body will lead to a condition called atherosclerosis condition is the forerunner of heart disease and stroke. One of the efforts that must be undertaken to produce low cholesterol aquaculture products are engineered feed, supplementation with fatty acids derived from marine organisms. Through the fatty acid supplementation, it is expected that the levels of triglycerides and low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL) will decline so it can raise levels of high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL). Analysis of data using statistical test of Variant Analysis of variance (ANOVA) to determine the effect of treatment. If there are differences among the treatments continued with Duncan Multiple Range Test to determine the best treatment. Analysis of Variant (ANOVA) result a significant difference (p<0,05). The main parameters of total cholesterol, high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL) and low density lipoprotein (LDL) meat prawns tested at the Laboratory of Physiology, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya. Parameter supporters observed that the maintenance of water quality fresh water prawns. Provision of cod liver oil at a dose of 12% can lower total cholesterol with the lowest levels of the other treatments, with an average of 88.3125 mg/dl. Provision of cod liver oil at a dose of 12% can reduce low density lipoprotein (LDL) levels were lowest from other treatments with an average of 197.72 mg/dl. Abstract

The accumulation of waste in aquaculture can cause inorganic toxins  named ammonia (NH3) and nitrite (NO2) in water. Biofloc technology is one of the new alternative to solve the problem of ammonia (NH3) and nitrite (NO2) in aquaculture techniques adapted from sewage treatment. This study aims to determine the effect of stocking density of catfish (Clarias sp.) using biofloc system against ammonia and nitrite. This study used an experimental method to completely randomized design (CRD). Statistical analysis using Analysis of Variant (ANOVA) to determine the effect of treatment. The results of the study showed that the effect of stocking density of catfish (Clarias sp.) were significantly different (P <0.05) against ammonia (NH3). The lowest average production levels of ammonia (NH3) was the PO treatment (stocking density 15 fishes/15 L) of 0.1689 ± 0.0052, and the highest was treatment P3 (stocking density 30 fishes /15 L) of 0.1819 ± 0.0016. Effect of stocking density of African catfish (Clarias sp.) was not significantly different (P> 0.05) to nitrite (NO2). The lowest average content of nitrite production (NO 2) was the PO treatment (stocking density 15 fishes/15 L) of 0.0358 ± 0.0028 and the highest was P3 treatment (stocking density 30 fishes/15 L) of 0.0388 ± 0.0042. During the culture. temperature was  26,4-29,70C, dissolved oxygen was 5.2 to 8.3 mg / L and pH between 7.01 to 8.66. Keywords : Biofloc, ammonia, nitrite

Abstract

Fluctuating asymmetry of the bilateral meristic characteristic is one of the simple methods that can be used to determine the stability of an individual fish development. This study aims to provide quantitative information about the level of asymmetry of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) in Dunia Air Independent Training Center Marine and Fisheries, Banyuwangi through bilateral meristic characteristic observation.  A total of 120 fish samples (5-7 cm) were measured in this study. Four bilateral meristic characters were calculated i.e. the number of soft pectoral fins, number of soft ventral fins, number of scales on the lateral line up and down. The results show that the highest value of the fluctuating asymmetry of magnitude (FAm) and fluctuating asymmetry of number (FAn) was obtained at the number of scales on the lateral line up those are 2.14 and 0.78, respectively. Meanwhile, the lowest FAm and FAn values obtained from the soft ventral fins which were 1.69 and 0.78, respectively. The sum of the total value of fluctuating asymmetry of each bilateral meristic characteristic was observed. The overall FAm value was 7.83 and the overall FAn value was 2.99.Keywords: fluctuating asymmetry, Nile tilapia, PMKP Dunia Air

Abstract

This study aims to  analyze the  economic, technical and price efficiency of  milkfish farmers participating fish culture training at Center of Education and Fisheries Training Banyuwangi, analyzing covering factors affecting production efficiency. Analysis of data used in the form of production function analysis Cobb Douglas stochastic frontier which is estimated by Ordinary Least Square Method (OLS). Estimation of Cobb-Douglas production function model using OLS method to know the efficiency of the average performance of fish culture business. Estimates with the maximum likelihood (MLE) method to determining the level of technical efficiency, using the 4.7 frontier computing program developed by Coelli (1996). To know the efficiency of the price can be calculated by the value of marginal product (VMP) of production factor. The results show that the level of economic efficiency of milkfish culture business in Gresik East Java, based on the results of estimation using MLE method, the result of six factors of production is in rational area, but not yet efficient because the obtained coefficient value of each area of pond (X1) 0.318, fertilizer (X2) 0.079, lime (X3) 0.009, seeds (X4) 0.005, probiotics (X6) 0.066 and labor (X7) 1.311. While one feed production factor (X5) is in an irrational area because it has a coefficient value of -0.017. While the variables that influence inefficiency are experiential variables (Z1), age of farmers (Z2) and formal education (Z3) each have elasticity of -0.0711458; -0,6270106 and -0,1504381. The value of Marginal Product (NPM) of pond production area (X1) is 0.00059 (<1), Fertilizer (X2) is greater than 1 ie 3,01413, lime production factor (X3) 3,35338, the other NPM factor production such as Seed (X4) and Labor (X7), with value less than 1 (0.00075 and 0.03865), NPM Feed (X5), is smaller than one ie -0.00364 (<1 ). NPM probiotic (X6) is 95,1491 (> 1). Overall allocation of the seven factors of production is the average value of price efficiency is also more than one that is equal to 101,553 and economic efficiency equal to 2,904. it can be concluded that fish breeding business has not been efficient. Keywords: efficiency, economy, technical, price, frontier, milkfish

Abstract

Intensive aquaculture systems causing heavy reliance on the use of artificial feed (Heptarina et al., 2010). Feed is a crucial component to the success of shrimp farming (Soemardjati and Suriawan, 2006). According to Haryanto and Djajanegara (1993) lamtoro leaves contain protein, calcium and energy. The content of the leaves lamtoro a source of protein for feed ingredients in this plant are essential amino acids lysine and leucine were very high (D'Mello and Fraser, 1981). The consideration for the selection of feed materials should be done in accordance with the provisions of the feed material that is readily available, low cost, high nutrient content and do not compete with humans (Handajani et al., 2010). According to Matthew (1993), leucaena as forage quality has not been used optimally and not much commercialized. Lamtoro a potential biological resources to be used as feed to the waste generated sufficient forage nutritional value (Widiastuti, 2007). Research on the use of fermented flour substitution lamtoro leaf is a matter that needs to be done because of the use of fermented flour lamtoro leaf is expected to improve the quality of feed and make it as an alternative feed ingredient that can be given to increase aquaculture production. This research is the experimental method using a completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments and five replications. The results of this study will be analyzed descriptively in the form of data and tables. Data obtained, processed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) to determine the effect of different treatments applied if real, then continued with Duncan's Multiple Range Test (Duncan's Multiple Range Test) with a 5% error rate to determine the best treatment. Keywords: Feed, Vaname Shrimp, Fermentation, Substitution, Leucaena Leaf, Protein Retention, Retention Energy.

Abstract

The value of conversion rate and feed efficiency is a parameter for determining the quality, treatment, or feed given to the growth of Silver Pompano (Trachinotus blochii). The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of feeding frequency on feed conversion and efficiency and survival of Silver Pompano. The research method used was a Completely Randomized Design (RAL) with 3 treatments (Control namely feeding once a day, A was feeding 2 days, and B was feeding once every 3 days) with 3 replications. The best results were K treatment at 2.11 g (feed conversion ratio), 47.32% (feed efficiency), and 100% (survival). The conclusion of this study is that the treatment given during the study by ANOVA analysis did not give a significant effect on the conversion value and feed efficiency. Feeding with a frequency of 1 time a day (control) shows the best weight growth and can be applied to cultivation. Keywords: conversion rate, feed efficiency, Silver Pompano

Abstract

Detriment caused by ectoparasitic infestation was not as big detriment caused by infestation of other organisms such as viruses and bacteria, but it could be a predisposing factor for the infection of more dangerous pathogenic in fish. The aims of this study was to inventory ectoparasites that infecting freshwater fish cultivated in several districts in the Banyuwangi, in which the results were expected to be used as a reference in an effort to prevent the spread of disease in fish culture. The sample of research consisted of tilapia fish, carp and catfish which were obtained from six sub districts in Banyuwangi, those were Kota, Kabat, Licin, Kalipuro, Giri, and Glagah. The ectoparasite examination method was performed naturally by scraping the surface of the body, fins and gills of the fish, then observed under a microscope with magnification ranging from 40 to 400x. The results of further observations were documented and identified by key identification. Ectoparasites which were found infesting freshwater fish in the city of Banyuwangi consisted of 4 genuses: namely Argulus, Lernaea, Chonopeltis and Trichodina. Further research is needed to determine the prevalence and intensity of ectoparasites in order to prevent the spread of ectoparasites in other regions. Keywords: Inventarisation, ectoparasites, freshwater fish, Banyuwangi

Abstract

Catfish (Clarias sp.) is a type of consumption fish have promising prospects because it has a high enough degree of market uptake. The high market demand which motivated farmers to develop farming aquaponics technologies. Aquaponics, in principle, in addition to conserve land and water use also increases business efficiency through the utilization of nutrients from food remains and fish for plant metabolism. Fish farming with high stocking density causes a decrease in water quality due to the accumulation of organic matter buildup of organic materials causing toxins in the water because there is ammonia (NH3) and nitrite (N02) on the water. The threshold for catfish ammonia content is <0.8 mg /L. Alternative to overcome the problem of water quality in aquaculture is the addition of probiotic. Probiotic contain several types of microorganisms that can help the process of decomposition of ammonia as a bioremediation agent for water quality control. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of different probiotics in the aquaponics system to water quality. The method that used in this research is experimental with completely randomized design (four  treat and five repeated) are P0 (control), P1 (probiotic A), P2 (probiotic B) and P3 (probiotic C). Analysis of data processed using Analysis of Variance. If there are significant differences then continued Duncan's Multiple Range Test. The results showed that the giving of probiotics in the aquaponic system is significantly different (p<0.05).The final conclusion is that the addition of probiotic in the aquaponic system affect the water quality. Based on the results of statistical analysis showed that the levels of ammonia, nitrite and nitrate was lowest for the treatment of P2 is 0.0204 mg /L, 0.012 mg /L and 2.731 mg /L. Ammonia, nitrite and nitrate is highest at P0 treatment (control) is 0.273 mg /L, 0.019 mg /L, 4.218 mg /L. Keywords : Aquaponic, Catfish, Probiotic, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, Clarias sp.
