Abstract

This article addresses the primary issue of environmental degradation caused by excessive human consumption and unsustainable development models. The study employs a critical analysis of the New Environmental Paradigm (NEP) by Catton and Dunlap to explore the complex interactions between humans and the natural environment. Methodologically, the research utilizes qualitative data from various sources, including historical texts and contemporary studies, to illustrate how socio-cultural values and practices contribute to environmental crises. Key findings indicate that the overexploitation of natural resources, coupled with inadequate awareness of the intrinsic relationship between humans and nature, exacerbates environmental damage. The research highlights the potential of Generation Z to lead behavioral changes towards more sustainable lifestyles through social media and technological engagement. By integrating Tasawuf (Sufi) ethical values, which emphasize simplicity, ecological balance, and empathy towards all creation, Generation Z can foster a movement towards environmental preservation. The study underscores the importance of re-educating society on ethical environmental practices to mitigate ongoing environmental issues and promote sustainability.

Abstract

The revival of the Renaissance in the West began when people began to think very critically about the situation, everything was faced with the "judicial" ratio. To reach a truth requires various ways of thinking and proving, one of which is through the benchmark of Rationalism which had a big influence on the foundation of enlightenment at the beginning of the century. It is important to re-examine rationalism in the postmodern era like now, whether the only valid truth is only rational truth that makes sense, whether only reason is the only source of truth, or are there other truths that cannot be reached by rationalism. The purpose of this writing is to know and understand epistemological rationalism as a theory of truth. This research method uses literature (library study) by collecting and exploring data or library materials related to the discussion themes and problems. The results of the research show that: 1) Rationalism is a philosophical view that firmly adheres to the fact that reason is the most important tool for obtaining knowledge, the highest truth lies in human reason or reason. 2) Descartes created a method of doubt in his philosophy called the method of doubt, questioning all beliefs, ideas, thoughts and material obtained through the senses. The information and knowledge received by humans from birth is not guaranteed to be true, therefore everything must be tested again by underestimating it. 3) Even though it is guided by rational and empirical principles, in reality rationalism is unable to explain or reach empirical existence outside the mind such as color, taste, smell or image.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to explore Paul Ricoeur's thinking and see how far Paul Ricoeur's hermeneutics is used as an approach. Paul Ricoeur's Hermeneutics is a philosophical hermeneutics whose approach is very rarely used by Exegesis academics. The research was carried out using a literature approach. Data collection was carried out through literature studies. The results of this study confirm that Paul Ricoeur's approach has been applied in various fields of study, including Islamic studies and interpretation. However, in some parts, the methodological flow of Ricoeur's hermeneutics is not used in its entirety. Some emphasize linguistic aspects, symbols and myths. Meanwhile, several scientific works use the methodological flow offered by Ricoeur in its entirety, including, Objectification of structures, Distansiasi (distance), World of Texts, and Apppropriation. Ricoeur's approach in Islamic studies is quite widely studied by academics, but in the study of the Qur'an and exegesis, Ricoeur's approach is only limited to being used as a comparison with other mufassir thoughts. In short, Ricoeur's approach is not used as a tool for interpreting the Qur'an like some other hermeneutic approaches.

Abstract

The challenges and responses given by Muslims, especially Muslim scholars to Religious Studies are the starting point of this research. Departing from these problems, the author aims to answer the questions of why Islam challenges Religious Studies, how Muslims challenge or respond to Religious Studies, and how to solve these problems. Muslim opposition to Religious Studies is the author's entry point to revisit this discipline. The problematic legacy of Orientalism conducted by Western scholars is one of the factors of Muslim rejection of Religious Studies. It is also what makes Muslims suspicious of anything that comes from the West. By revealing Muslim opposition to Religious Studies, the author reflects on this opposition as an effort to resist the discourse of Religious Studies which seeks to separate the religious world and the secular world as mentioned by Timothy Fitzgerald. Furthermore, Muslim criticism of Religious Studies is used as a social reality to reassess Religious Studies. The author tries to bring Religious Studies, especially the field of Islamic Studies, into the epistemological framework of Islam itself. Finally, with regard to modernity, the author considers various methodologies or approaches that have developed in the Western world to be used as an analytical knife to study Islam in its various aspects in the realm of Religious Studies research. In this case the author wants to emphasize that not everything that comes from the West is something negative that can damage the image of Islam.

Abstract

This study discusses the role of inclusive philanthropy in reducing poverty in Indonesia, especially among multicultural societies. Through the approach of deliberative justice philosophy developed by Habermas, inclusive philanthropy is understood as a fundamental need for a country with diversity like Indonesia. This study explores how this concept is applied in Cilegon City, an area with a Muslim majority population, but remains open to ethnic and religious plurality. Using qualitative methods based on literature studies and in-depth interviews, this study finds that inclusive philanthropy can be an effective tool in poverty alleviation regardless of ethnicity, religion, or race. These findings underline the importance of deliberative justice in ensuring a fair distribution of welfare in society. This study also provides recommendations for improving the practice of inclusive philanthropy through more structured government policies and support from social organizations.
