Abstract

This article aims at observing the Wujudiyyah teaching of 'Abd Allah bin 'Abd al-Qahhar al-Bantani on the text Masyahid an-Ndik fi maqamat as-Salik. Even though 'Abd Allah bin 'Abd alQahhar al-Bantani was as a great ulama in the period of Sultan Abu an-Nasr 'Arif Syifa' Zain al 'Asyiqin—the ruler of the sultanate of Banten in the eighteenth century--his name was scarcely mentioned in the history of Banten. This sultan asked him to write a book of Wujudiyyah, especially dealing with tajalliyat. The polemic of WuJudiyyah happens in Banten is different from that of in Aceh. In Banten, there is no information stating that the sultan of Banten bans and considers the adherents of wujudiyyah teaching as infidel (unbeliever). Dealing with tajalliyat concept, he expresses it in the explanation of tajalli phases of God over the realm that he divides into four kinds of world: 'alam ilahi, 'alam jabarut, 'alam malakut and 'alam nasut. His division of these worlds is much different from al-Burhanpuri's concept of Martabat Tujuh and the world concepts of Hamzah Fansuri, al-jili as well as lbn 'Arabi. Abstract

This article discusses the concept of independent learning adopted from the educational philosophy of Ki Hadjar Dewantara. The concept of independent learning in this article is used as a new formula in learning Islamic religious education.This article aims at descriptive-analysis of Ki Hajar Dewantara's educational philosophy in the concept of independent learning as an educational policy in the era of the advanced Indonesian cabinet. It also offers new nuances of Islamic religious education learning methods in schools. The method used is the library research method and is descriptive-analytical in nature, while the analysis uses content-analysis.

Abstract

This paper aims to analyze Muhammad Mahfūẓ al-Tarmasī’s concept of wali and karāma, as well as his response and position in the discourse on those issues. Drawing on historical, hermeneutics, and intertextual approach, it will elaborate his involvement in the 19th century discourse on wali and karāma, in which the Wahhabiyya’s strong influence in Mecca was taking place. In this sense, Mahfūẓ wrote a treatise on Sufism entitled Bughyat al-Adhkiyā’ fī Bahthi’an Karāmāt al-Awliyā’. Although he mastered on tasawwuf and possessed a genealogical chain to al-Ghazali, al-Qushairi and some other Sufis, he did not use their arguments. He preferred to quote the arguments of the jurists (fuqahā’), such as al-Subkī and al-Haytamī. This actually shows the strength of his work in compiling arguments using the “criticism from within” approach. He realized, to some extent, that criticism to Sufism mainly came from the jurists (fuqahā’). Therefore, in order to be easily accepted, criticizing critics needs to employ the same perspective, fuqahā’s arguments. In fact, Mahfūẓ criticism was not only directed at the jurists (fuqahā’) but also to the group which at that time were incessantly spreading the ideas delegitimizing Sufism (in the context of orthodoxy), Wahhabiyya. This can be seen clearly in the way of Mahfūẓ’s selection of figures and groups to whom he criticized. But interestingly, he delivered critics in a smooth way and did not show his finger directly to the nose of Wahhabiyya.[Tulisan ini merupakan analisis terhadap konsep wali dan karomah menurut Muhammad Mahfūẓ al-Tarmasi, serta respon dan posisinya dalam diskursus isu-isu tersebut. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan historis, hermeneutika, dan intertekstual, tulisan ini menjelaskan keterlibatannya dalam wacana abad 19 tentang wali dan karomah, di mana pengaruh kuat Wahhabiyya di Mekah tengah berlangsung. Untuk itu, Mahfūẓ menulis sebuah risalah tentang Sufisme berjudul Bughyat al-Adhkiyā’ fi Bahthi’an Karāmat al-Awliyā’. Meski ia menguasai tasawwuf dan memiliki silsilah spiritual yang sampai kepada beberapa Sufi kenamaan, namun dalam karyanya ini ia tidak menggunakan argumen-argumen mereka. Ia lebih suka mengutip argumen para ahli hukum (fuqahā’), seperti al-Subki dan al-Haytami. Ini merupakan salah satu kekuatan dari kepiawaiannya dalam menyusun argumen menggunakan pendekatan “critic from within” karena ia menyadari bahwa kritik terhadap tasawuf labih banyak berasal dari para fuqahā’. Oleh karena itu, agar mudah diterima, suatu kritik perlu menggunakan perspektif yang sama dengan sang pengkritik, dalam hal ini argumen fuqaha. Faktanya, kritik Mahfūẓ tidak hanya diarahkan pada para fuqahā’ tetapi juga kepada kelompok yang pada saat itu terus-menerus menyebarkan ide-ide delegitimasi tasawuf (dalam konteks ortodoksi), seperti Wahhabiyya. Ini dapat dilihat dengan jelas dari cara Mahfūẓ memilih tokoh dan kelompok yang ia kritik. Namun yang menarik, ia menyampaikan kritik dengan cara yang halus dan tidak secara explisit menunjuk langsung Wahhabiyya yang saat itu mulai berkuasa.]

Abstract

This article aims to examine the wujūdiyyah teaching of ‘Abd al-Lāh bin ‘Abd al-Qahhār al-Bantanī in his Mashāhid al-Nāsik fī Maqāmāt al-Sālik. Although he was a great ulama in the period of Sultan Abū al-Naṣr ‘Ārif Shifā’ Zayn al-‘Āshiqīn—the ruler of Banten Sultanate in the eighteenth century—his name was rarely mentioned in the history of Banten. The Sultan asked him to write a book on wujūdiyyah that especially deals with tajalliyāt. The polemics over wujūdiyyah in Banten is different from those of Aceh. In Banten, there is no information whether the Sultan banned or considered the adherents of wujūdiyyah teaching as infidel (unbeliever). Regarding tajalliyāt, al-Bantani explains it in relation to the tajallī phases of God over the realm that he divides into four: ‘ālam ilāhī, ‘ālam jabarūt, ‘ālam malakūt and ‘ālam nāsūt. His concept about these worlds is different from al-Burhanpurī’s Martabat Tujuh and from those of H{amzah Fanṣūrī, al-Jīlī as well as Ibn ‘Arabī.

Abstract

Masalah ketuhanan selalu menjadi tema perdebatan tiada akhir. Masing-masing membicarakan-Nya dengan perspektifnya sendiri. Ahli Kalam memandang Allah melalui tanzih-Nya, Allah yang tak pernah terjangkau oleh siapapun dan apapun. Sedangkan para sufi memandang Allah selalu dekat dan bisa “dijangkau” oleh manusia. Meskipun para sufi menyatakan “keterjangkauan” Allah, namun mereka mengekspresikannya secara berbeda. Sebagian sufi memandang Allah bisa dijangkau dengan tetap menjaga keterbatasan dan pembedaan antara manusia dengan Tuhannya melalui jalur penghambaan, Sang Khalik dan makhluk, Yang Hakiki dan yang nisbi. Sedangkan sufi lainnya ada yangmenegaskan bahwa Allah omnipresen, imanen, dan dapat menyatu dengan manusia (hulul), atau manusia dapat menyatu dengan Tuhan (ittihad), atau dalam pemikiran imaginal Tuhan dapat dipandang imanen dan hadir dalam segala sesuatu (wahdatul wujud). Karena itu, untuk menerangkan kondisi psikologis tersebut, biasanya para ahli tasawuf menganalisisnya melalui dua kondisi (ahwal) yang dialami para pencari Tuhan (salik), yakni kondisi mabuk (sukr) dan sadar (sahw).

Abstract

Tulisan ini mencoba mengulas tentang fenomena gerakan keagamaan, yakni Islam Progresif. Islam Progresif itu lahir sebagai konsekuensi dari gesekan sosiologis agama (khususnya Islam) dengan problem problem sosial yang ada di lingkungan di mana agama itu Nadir. Bisa juga dikatakan bahwa lahirnya reaksi ini disebabkan oleh sifat agama yang adaptif terhadap problem yang ada di masyarakat supaya tetap survive di tengah pergolakan yang terjadi dan bisa juga memainkan peranannya yang proporsional. Abstract

Latar belakang Lahan di wilayah Kelurahan Karangbesuki Kecamatan Sukun Kota Malang mengalami perubahan alih fungsi tanah sawah atau tegalan menjadi perumahan dan industri. Perubahan status lahan mulai terjadi sejak tabun 1980-an yang ditunjukkan dengan penjualan lahan secara besar-besaran dan dilakukan dengan paksaan dari masyarakat kepada developer. Masyarakat yang menjual tanahnya tersebut, sekarang banyak yang tidak punya pekerjaan. Masyarakat tidak memiliki kesadaran tentang kuasa manfaat di wilayahnya sendiri. Beberapa potensi di desanya, sudah tidak bisa dimanfaatkan lagi. Untuk itu, kegiatan pendampingan terbadap pesantren sabilurrosyad ini memiliki beberapa tujuan: menggali data dan informasi, menyiapkan fasilitator lokal dari kalangan santri dan masyarakat untuk kemudian bisa memberdayakan masyarakatnya sendiri dan memberikan fasilitasi bagi penyadaran masyarakat Kata Kunci: Advokasi lahan, kuasa kelola, kuasa manfaat, Ponpes Sabilurrosyad

Abstract

Jumlah da’i yang muncul di televisi maupun di berbagai kesempatan sejak tahun 2000-an semakin menunjukkan angka yang menggembirakan. Peningkatan jumlah ini sungguh fantastik bak jamur di musim hujan, sampai-sampai stasiun televisi mengadakan “sayembara" pemiiihan da’i cilik maupun dewasa. Namun pengembangannya dengan hasil dari transformasi nilai Islam yang disampaikannya di masyarakat seolah hal lain yang tak pernah ter­cover. Dakwah sejatinya tak hanya dilakukan secara lisan (bil lisan) namun juga dengan aksi (bil hal). Dalam tulisan ini akan dibahas secara singkat filosofi, efektifitas dan strategy dakwah yang kemungkinannya bisa diterima di masyarakat guna membumikan nilai Islam, memberdayakan masyarakat dan mengamalkannya dalam keseharian. Abstract

This article will explain about Islamic education reform in an effort to build the concept of modern Islamic education in Indonesia. Islamic education reform itself aims to make Islamic education run effectively and efficiently, dynamically, able to respond to technological developments and advances. Various Indonesian government policies in the form of laws and government regulations indicate their support and desire to empower the people through the provision of superior education in order to achieve national education goals. This is evidenced by the stipulation of standards for content, process, competency of graduates, educators and education staff, facilities and infrastructure, financing management and assessment system. Education is expected to be able to overcome the moral and personal problems of the nation's children. Islamic education in Indonesia is considered still trapped in a disputed issue, the transformation of knowledge and religious values ​​is still low, so that sometimes they forget the reality of work needs

Abstract

This paper focuses on the discourse of local religious traditions and its implication for the shifting religious authority among young Muslims in Banten and Yogyakarta dealing with their activity in social media (clicktivism). The existence of freedom of opinion and expression since the fall of the New Order and the widespread use of new media has had a significant influence on youth’s Muslimness, including the local Islamic tradition issues. In collecting data, this study utilized visual ethnography, observation, interview, and focus group discussion. While analyzing the collected data, we use Talal Asad’s Discursive Tradition. The research finds that the dissemination of information through social media was able to have a significant influence on the change in religious practices, especially in dealing with local religious (Islamic) traditions. This change is inseparable from the dynamic process of the discursive tradition of young Muslims on social media. Another implication of the process is a shift in religious authority from personal to impersonal.
