Abstract

This study aims to determine students' reading interest through literacy movements in schools that implement reading corners in the classroom. This research was carried out at the Irsyadul Ibad Islamic Elementary School in Pandeglang Banten Province. The subjects in the study were fourth-grade students, totaling 40 students. The research uses descriptive qualitative methods, observation, and interviews as data collection instruments. The results showed that there was an increase in students' interest in reading after the implementation of the reading corner in the literacy movement at school. Students feel happy and comfortable in carrying out reading learning activities at school. The reading corner also impacts increasing the intensity of students' reading time because, through the implementation of the reading corner, students are given 15 minutes to read each before starting learning. Support for the literacy movement in schools is needed from various parties, such as teachers, principals, parents, and the community. Schools are expected to provide support for the availability of facilities and infrastructure to support the implementation of reading corner activities so that the reading corner has attractive decorations, a varied collection of books, and other representative supporting facilities. One obstacle in implementing the reading corner is students' boredom with reading. This happens because the concentration and focus of elementary school students are still easily distracted by playing activities, so teacher assistance is needed in this activity. Teachers must be facilitators and motivators for students in reading activities. In implementing reading corner activities, teachers are advised to carry out three activity stages: habituation, development, and literacy-based learning. A good literacy program must be balanced, and schools that implement a balanced literacy program must realize that each student has different learning styles and needs.

Abstract

Learning in the old curriculum tends to create students who are successful in class, with high GPA and are required to memorize theories and concepts. The impact of this condition is that students have difficulty interacting with the community, because there are no opportunities/opportunities to understand life in society. 21st century learning expects students to have the competence to think critically, creatively, communicatively, and be able to collaborate or 21st century skills. Therefore the opportunity for independent learning can be said as an effort to develop student competence. The research was conducted on 418 students from 4 batches. The instrument in the form of a questionnaire uses a Likert scale. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results show the relevance of 21st century skills that are able to support the sustainability of sustainable development or SDGs. This finding is evidenced by the average of the four learning skills indicators showing a high value, 3.53. Most of the respondents agreed with the MBKM program and were very satisfied with their learning experience. The relevance of teaching skills through MBKM can be interpreted as an effort to realize the whole human being in facing sustainable development or SDGs. Abstract

21st century skills are skills related to critical thinking skills and are learning behaviors related to problem solving. The development of the 21st century is characterized by the sophistication of the field of technology, this sophistication has an impact on a variety of information that can be accessed quickly by anyone and anywhere. Skills in the 21st century are needed so as not to be left behind by developments in science and technology. Therefore teachers must have creativity and innovation in managing learning, so that students can develop their abilities in facing the 21st century. This study aims to analyze 21st century skills in learning. Qualitative description method is used to present the findings. Data collection techniques used observation sheets, interviews, and documentation studies on learning tools, especially lesson plans. Data processing was carried out using triangulation techniques, where data were analyzed, reduced, and described. The results of the analysis of the observation of the learning process found that teachers have carried out learning that leads to higher-order thinking skills and 21st century skills. Even so, teachers are still unable to apply all 4C skills in learning activities. This happens because teachers do not fully understand 21st century skills and assume that these skills are the same as higher order thinking. Therefore efforts are needed to develop teacher abilities through training or workshops on 21st Century skills.

Abstract

Data collection methods and tools are the techniques and tools used in research to collect various data which are processed quantitatively or qualitatively, then arranged systematically. Data collection is defined as research activities that aim to collect field data needed to answer research questions in qualitative research or to test hypotheses in quantitative research. Research instruments are tools that use various types of information in research to be collected, processed quantitatively or qualitatively and then arranged systematically. Qualitative researchers as human instruments function to determine research focus, select informants as data sources, collect data, assess data quality, analyze data, interpret data and make conclusions on all stimuli from the environment that must be estimated to be meaningful or not for research. Quantitative research uses test instruments, non-test instruments and test inventories. For disclosure of facts to become data, the instruments used must be of good quality in the sense of being valid and reliable so that the data obtained will be in accordance with the facts or circumstances when collecting, studying, studying the problem under study.
