Abstract

The K-pop industry has grown even larger since merchandising came into the picture and has become an indispensable part of the industry. Across the board, fans came to a consensus about showing love and support for their idols through streaming music and purchasing merchandise. Thus, K-pop industries successfully monetize their fans through various merchandise worldwide. Despite the fact that merchandising might just be another marketing tool to alleviate the business, it has different significance for fans. By tracing fans’ roots of affection, this study tried to explore factors that predominantly drive the fans to buy and use idol goods (merchandise). Using a quantitative method with a snowballing approach as its sample, questionnaires were disseminated through various local Indonesian fandoms. The results showed that despite having limited monthly personal spending, fans still managed to collect a handful number of merchandise regardless of the cost. The study also revealed that fans were driven to use and/or buy merchandise as (1) a tool to socialize as well as self-representation within society; (2) a close representation of their idol; and (3) a way to show their affection toward their idols, which in return creating a sense of closeness toward their idol.

Abstract

ABSTRACT During the COVID-19 pandemic, many media outlets have faced disruption. These disruptions are not only related to health but also to public life and the media industry as a whole. During the COVID-19 pandemic, people made the media the main source of information. The purpose of this research is to find out the transformation of media journalism during COVID-19 in Indonesia. This research uses social information processing theory, which describes how a person develops computer-mediated interpersonal and group communication (online) without non-verbal cues, as well as making it easier and more convenient. The research method uses qualitative methodology with a case study approach. In the atmosphere of the COVID-19 pandemic, where people are traumatized by the rapid and ubiquitous transmission of COVID-19 and social restrictions, communication using computers and smartphones mediated online is one of the right solutions. The conclusion of this research is that the production process of television journalism has changed.

Abstract

This study used five assumptions to guide the examination of the techniques for maintaining school infrastructure and providing high-quality education in public junior secondary schools in Lagos State Education District 1. All 42 public junior secondary school principals and teachers in the chosen education district made up the study's population, which used a descriptive and correlational research approach. 216 principals and teachers made up the sample, which was selected using multistage - stratified, simple random, and purposive selection approaches from the sampled 18 schools. A self-constructed questionnaire with two dimensions, one with 20 items on quality education delivery and the other dimension on school facilities maintenance strategies, were used to collect data for the study. For each dimension, the reliability coefficients for this instrument's were found to be 0.77 and 0.79, respectively with a face and content validity being ensured. Person product moment correlation analysis was used as an inferential statistical technique to analyze the data at the 0.05 level of significance. The research findings indicates a noteworthy correlation between preventative maintenance strategy(r = .813; N=216; p< .05), corrective maintenance strategy (r = .786; N=216; p< .05), routine maintenance strategy (r = .765; N=216; p< .05), emergency maintenance strategy (r = .745; N=216; p< .05), remedial maintenance strategy (r = .925; N=216; p< .05) and quality education delivery in Lagos State Education District I. The study thereafter concluded that school facilities maintenance strategies is apparently a major determining factor of quality education delivery in public junior secondary schools in Lagos State Education District I. Thus, the study's recommendations include, among other things, the requirement that maintenance practices and culture be ingrained in everyone and that all parties involved in the education sector bear responsibility for them in order to guarantee the delivery of high-quality education.

Abstract

This study was meant to explore the students' perception of the credibility of Malaysian online news portals using the method of in-depth interviews and focus group discussions (FGD). The results of the study reveal that the proliferation of technologies such as social media and internet accessibility has greatly facilitated university students' access to online news portals. Individuals are seeking up-to-date information more than ever, due to the convenience of technology. Mainstream, alternative, and independent news portals each have distinct impacts on students. Key factors contributing to these credibility issues include information-seeking behaviour, convenience, confirmation bias, and social interaction. Perceptions of credibility vary depending on the type of news portal in the eyes of university students which could be driven by ideology, prejudice, and bias. However, convenience and credibility theme explain why online news portals are often criticized for their lack of credibility in the eyes of university students. Many students perceive clickbait headlines as a major issue with Malaysian online news portals, often finding discrepancies between headlines and the actual content of articles. Incomplete information and journalists' reluctance to address sensitive issues are also significant concerns for students when selecting online news portals. Bias and credibility issues on online news portals often manifest in political and racial controversies. Students also mentioned the 3R issues during the interviews. Despite these concerns, online news portals remain the primary source of information for university students. Overall, the credibility issues have eroded students' confidence in the reliability of online news.

Abstract

The central government provides a budget to the village in the form of village funds to increase the budget for development, services, and community empowerment that have been budgeted by the government, which is large enough each year to be given to the village. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of the use of village financial systems, community participation, and accessibility of financial statements on the management of village funds with the competence of village officials as moderating variables in Rokan Hulu Regency. The population in this study were villages in Rokan Hulu Regency as recipients of village funds, namely 139 villages. The sampling technique used in this study was proportional stratified random sampling, and the respondents in this study consisted of: village head, village secretary, head of finance, and BPD, so that the respondents amounted to 412 people. The data collection technique used in this study was to use a questionnaire. The data analysis used Warp PLS. The results of this study indicate that the utilization of village financial systems, community participation, and accessibility of financial statements affect the management of village funds. The competence of village officials moderates the effect of the use of village financial systems and community participation on the management of village funds. However, the competence of village officials does not moderate the effect of the accessibility of financial statements on the management of village funds.

Abstract

Human insecurity of the Arid and Semi- Arid (ASALS) Northern Kenya is indeed a challenge towards realization of equal spatial-geographical development. Even though devolved systems of Government is in place towards near achievement of equal development through being disbursed for Equalization Funds on top financial yearly disbursement of funds to the counties in accordance to the constitution 2010 provisions on devolution, the region remains largely underdeveloped as compared to other regions in Kenya. Insecurity in this region are aggravated by practices such as cattle rustling in which sophisticated weapons like AK47 and M16 rifles are used by rustlers and terrorists more specifically Al-Shabaab especially in Mandera, Wajir, Garrisa and Lamu Counties. In addition, the Al-Shabaab use IED, hand propelled granades, landmines, matchettes amongst other lethal weapons. The scenario is that Civil servants more specifically non-locals in various sectors e.g. education, health, agriculture, security perceive the regions as being very insecure. The purpose of the study is to determine effects of insecurity on socio-economic development. Specific objectives were to establish: effects of insecurity on trade in Northern Kenya; to establish effects of insecurity on crop and livestock farming and to establish effects of insecurity education on health services. The study was underpinned by peaceful co-existence theory. The study established that there is a strong relationship between (in)security and socioeconomic development, that the insecurity in Northern Kenya has negatively affected trade, health services and livestock and livestock framing. Many civil servants flee the area because of the hostility that characterize the region. The findings have implications for security agencies drawn from the Ministry of Interior and Defense and County security apparatus to work closely with the local communities towards attainment of sustainable peace.

Abstract

The existence of an empirical phenomenon of an inconsistent relationship between stock returns and profitability, the inconsistency of macroeconomic influences with stock returns, and the inconsistency of previous research results on factors that affect stock returns are the main reasons behind this research, which questions whether DER, SG (MVA), inflation, and ROA affect stock returns and whether ROA is able to mediate the influence of DER, SG, MVA, and inflation on stock returns. The purpose of the study is to test and analyze whether DER, SG, MVA, inflation, and ROA affect stock returns and whether ROA is able to mediate the effect of DER, SG, MVA, and inflation on stock returns in the transportation and logistics sector listed on the IDX in 2018–2023. The sampling technique is a saturated sample; all populations are sampled. There are 8 companies that meet the qualifications in accordance with the specified population criteria. There are 79 samples from the 8 companies studied with the analysis method used, namely path analysis. At a significance level of 0.05 (5%), the results obtained show that DER, SG, inflation, and ROA have a direct effect on stock returns; MVA has no direct effect on stock returns. Profitability is able to mediate sales growth and MVA on stock returns, but it does not successfully mediate the influence between DER and inflation on stock returns.

Abstract

Environmental Management Accounting (EMA) supports environmental and green resources management strategies. EMA can facilitate environmental actions from organizations or companies to create superior performance by aligning actions or behavior with the goals and values the organization or company wants to achieve. By aligning environmental resources and using an appropriate management accounting system, it is hoped to facilitate the management of green resources and support the achievement of strategic goals, resulting in increased sustainability performance. The hypothesis in this theoretical model is that the Environmental Management Accounting mechanism can help businesses coordinate, measure, and manage better, namely displaying GIC elements, green human capital, green structural capital, and green relational capital, which can improve Environmental Performance. Consequently, this study is inspired by resource orchestration theory and presents a new approach, natural resource orchestration. The purpose of this study to investigate how business rely on EMA to interpret GIC into Environmental Performance. A sample of forty firms was obtained, based on the data collected from the Annual Reports and Sustainability Reports of companies registered on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) and following PROPER working in the energy industry. The Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS version 20) was used to test the model theoretically and used path analysis. These results bolster the idea that EMA mediates the relationship between GIC and environmental performance.
