Abstract

Diversity in Indonesia is part of the nation and should be embraced by its people. Managing diversity requires high tolerance. School is the best place to prepare the next generation for internalizing the values of tolerance and for respecting peace in the future. However, these values need all components of the society to properly achieve. When a school has pluralist conditions, it is important to pay attention to the students’ trust in order to successfully internalize tolerance values. Therefore, heterogenity will not produce the anti-tolerant generation. The study took place in SMA Negeri (public senior high school) 1 Lhokseumawe. The school was quite diverse and heterogenous where there were Muslim and non-Muslim students. The purposes of the study were to find out the tolerance values within Islamic education learning, to understand the internalization process, and to map the supporting and hindering factors of the internalization process of the tolerance values in SMAN 1 Lhokseumawe. This was a qualitative approach. Data were collected by interview, observation, and documentation of the school. This study resulted in some findings. Firstly, the values of tolerance received by the students included appreciation, brotherhood, freedom, cooperation, helping one another, non discrimination, and sharing. Secondly, the internalization process of the values was done in three ways: integration, the school customs, and extracurricular activities. Thirdly, the factors supporting the internalization were qualified and competent teacher, active student extracurricular activities, fair access of facilities, cooperation among teachers, support from school principal, heterogeneous awareness, active alumni, increased interest and state policy. Meanwhile, the factors hindering the internalization involved the unavailability of tolerance-based module, the unavailability of tolerance-based coaching, increased racism, religion, and other sensitive issues, and massive intolerant news from the media. It is recommended that learning module and teacher training should be tolerance specified in order to enforce the process of internalizing the tolerance values in school and reduce the intolerant issues widely spread in the mass media.

Abstract

The improvement of learning quality has been made through various efforts. The publication of textbooks is one of the efforts used to support the 2013 Curriculum implementation. The textbooks improvement efforts have been continually made by publishing the revised edition. However, the publication of the revised edition does not guarantee that the revision is better than the previously published edition. Some reviews found that the revised version contains several mistakes while it has not occurred to the previous edition. This finding is interesting to be critically scrutinized within a more in-depth analysis. Thus, the problems of the edition of the revised textbook underlie this research study. Based on the research objectives, this study is a library research or literature review. The primary resources of this study are the PAI and Budi Pekerti textbooks for grade 7th up to 9th. The analysis method used in this study is a content analysis that critically examines the substance of textbooks' content. In detail, this study also used the comparative method of analysis. This study found that still there are several shortcomings in the PAI and Budi Pekerti textbooks for all levels.  In terms of making the research findings more understandable and readable, the elicited problems found in the textbooks are classified based on aspects of language and writing, conceptual, relevance and coherence, material repetition, and psychological sensitivity. These findings can be used by policymakers in developing the textbooks, for the process of improvement and refinement in the future.

Abstract

Ethics is the main pillar in building the humans’ life order. One cannot survive, and education cannot stand upright and firm without being supported by good and noble ethical values. Nowday world has witnessed the crisis of ethics, awakening us all to fix it, starting from at least ourselves. This study aimed at figuring out the ethics of teachers and students in the book of Sīrus al-Sālikīn by Syaikh'Abd al-Ṣamad al-Falimbānī and its relevance in the current educational context. The study used library research or literature study with descriptive approach. Primary and secondary data were obtained through literature research through documentation method. The data were then analyzed by using content analysis technique. The results of the study showed that Syaikh 'Abd al-Ṣamad al-Falimbānī revealed that the teacher ethics was more important than the other factors, and thushe provided strict ethics for the teachers. In addition, the students should always hold on to the noble ethics in interacting with the teachers, both in the process of teaching and learning and in everyday life. In general, the ethics theory put forward by Syaikh 'Abd al-Ṣamad al-Falimbānī is still highly relevant and applicable in the context of current learning.

Abstract

The researcher chose this title due to her observation regarding the students at Babun Najah boarding school, that many of them less understanding about the text of Arabic and unable to an understanding about main information in it, and they still lack motivation and board in learning Arabic. Therefore, they need a special method to make them be easy in understanding Arabic texts, namely by using the Reciprocal Teaching model. The aim of this research is to know effectiveness of using the Reciprocal Teaching model to improve students’ ability in understanding Arabic texts. The method of this research is Quasi Experimental. Meanwhile, the population is all students in class XI IA 3 Babun Najah. And while the sample is all students in that class there are 32 students, In order to collect the data, the test (Pre-test and Post-test) was used as an instrument. The study results showed that; 1) The implementation of the Reciprocal Teaching model at Senior High School Babun Najah Banda Aceh was conducted in 4 steps, namely question generating, clarifying, predicting, and summarizing 2) The Use of the Reciprocal Teaching model improved students’ ability in understanding Arabic texts. It was shown by the result of the T-Test 10,5 that is bigger than the result of the Table Test 30,5, it is acceptable.

Abstract

This study entitled "The Religious Education of the Fishermen’s Children of Meucat Village of Samudera Sub-district of Aceh Utara District" formulated several research questions, they are: 1) How is the quality of the religious education of the children of the fishermen in Meucat Village? 2) What are the strategies employed by the parents in providing the religious education in Meucat Village? and 3) What are the challenges faced by the parents in their effort to fulfill their children's religious education in Meucat Village? The study used a qualitative approach with an analytical descriptive method, aiming to describe and analyze the social phenomena, events, social activities, attitudes, beliefs, perceptions, and thoughts of individuals and groups. The subjects of this study were the children of fishermen, the fishermen, the teachers of Islamic Religious Education, the village head, and the community figures of Meucat Village, Samudera Sub-district, North Aceh District.

Abstract

Leaders bear heavy responsibilities and play a significant role in management, and thus they should possess wisdom and skills in making innovations for the success of their work. This study aimed to investigate the following issues: the types of leadership applied by the head of Dayah Raudhatul Qur’an, the leadership role of the head of Dayah in the development of students’ behavior and the constraints faced by the leadership in the formation of morality students in Dayah Raudhatul Qur'an. The study employed a qualitative research design. Data were collected by observation, interview, and documentation. The results of the study showed that the types of leadership applied by the head of Dayah tended to follow the democratic, deliberative, and charimastic leadership. The role of the head of Dayah in terms of shaping the students’ behavior included establishing the regular Quran recitation, tausiah (giving advice), discipline, and dzikr (remembering Allah) after daily prayers. Further, the constraints faced by the leader in the formation of santri morality in Dayah Raudhatul Qur'an that is the influence from the outside because the majority of santri in Dayah Raudhatul Qur'an is a student from various universities and students are also busy by the tasks on campus so as not can focus on just one activity.

Abstract

The current globalization is very influential towards forming one's character, whether to be a character or uncharacteristic. The issue is how to make someone character and uncharacteristic. From the matter, the researcher will answer, how is the strategy of the character formation of Homeland's religious spirituality and love? What are the values that need to be attributed? The scientific approach used was the philosophy of Islamic education with an eclectic incorporative. The study is entirely a kind of qualitative research-a library with various literature related to the character. Data collection with documentation. Its analytical techniques (1) Content analysis, (2) Miles and Huberman (data collection, data reduction, data display, and data verification), and (3) data triangulation.  Research results; First, the strategy of establishing religious spirituality characters and the love of Homeland is habituation, moral knowing, moral feeling, immorality, and repentance with the throne, Takhalli, Tahalli, and Tajalli. Secondly, the primary value of implanted is religious-spiritual. This core value will give birth to Homeland's amount of love, integrity (honesty-trust), responsibility, respect, humility, tolerance, social care, love of science, hard work, patience, self-reliance, and social relationship.

Abstract

One of the duties of a school principal is to guide teachers. To achieve this duty, a principal employs various approaches and styles of leadership. This study aimed to investigate the implementation of the principals’ leadership in terms of guiding the teachers of Islamic education in the elementary schools in Indrajaya, Pidie. The focuses of the study included the approaches used by the principals in guiding the teachers of Islamic education (i.e., the use of charismatic potential and authority of the principals), the styles used by the principals in guiding the teachers, and the problems faced by the principals in guiding the teachers. The study used descriptive qualitative method. The objects of the study were five elementary schools within Indrajaya. The results showed that the principals applied their charismatic potential and authority when leading the teachers of which the charimastic factor was the predominant one. The principals used participative and authoritarian leadership styles, with the former being the most preferred. Further, there were problems in guiding the teachers, including the preparation of learning instruments, learning innovations, proper assessment, teachers’ personalities, and issues during academic supervision.

Abstract

Teaching material is a key factor of the learning process and has an important role in the learning process. With teaching material, students not only rely on teacher explanations but also can learn on their own, not only from books, but also from tapes. Arabic is one of the lessons learned by students at TPQ Plus Baitur Rahman, Banda Aceh. In this study the researcher wanted to explain the steps in developing books, how to use the book in teaching and learning process, and the effectiveness of using the book in TPQ Plus Baitur Rahman. Research and Developmentmethod was used is this research. The data was obtained by using tests, questionnaires, and interviews.

Abstract

΄Iḍafiah and Na’tiyah specifically Nahwu are crucial elements in arabic learning that has to be learned by students before they produce the perfect Insyᾱ’ al-Ḥurr. The students of Jeumala Amal not only found difficulties in learning ΄Iḍafiah and Na’tiyah but got bored as well. Thus, students had a very low ability. It was caused by the disagreement between method used by teacher and students' condition. Based on these problems, Discovery Method was selected by researcher in order to increase students' ability in ΄Iḍafiah and Na’tiyah. The purposes of this research are To identify students' response toward Discovery Method in learning, and to find out students' ability to produce Insyᾱ’ al-Ḥurr with the right ΄Iḍafiah and Na’tiyah arrangement. Quantitative supported by qualitative approach along with experimental method was used by researcher. Purposive sampling was used to find the fifth graders of 5 IPA1 that was consisted of 34 students. The result is that the use of Discovery Method in learning ΄Iḍafiah and Na’tiyah was effective and it gave a good impact on students of Jeumala Amal College, which the result from the T-hitung related calculation is greater than T-tabel result, that is 2,83>1,99.
