Abstract

This discussion is to disclose somewhat called as conservative language style, but obviously is really powerful; that is metaphor usage. Metaphor is assumed as conservative literature language. The article will show the usage of metaphor in everyday life, taken from Kompas online and Poskota online. The analysis willalso be about powerful and function of this language style comparing to usual language. Metaphor density in some articles will also be discussed. The result showed that by using metaphor in many writings including abstract could disclose more specific and also give specific reaction to readers. Besides, it is found that the two sources had in average one person using metaphor every 100 words.

Abstract

Living in Jakarta, as one biggest business centre and largest target market, increases people awareness for doing entrepreneurship. However, for many business people with minimal capital, the choice is to run online business. Since internet as one familiar thing among society, the chance of online business isincreasing. Research method used is questionnaire randomly for 20 respondents, internet and literature study. One online shop will be easier and structured in designing concept. This research is about the importance of visual communication design in the appearance of online business. Visual communication design will produce something with quality and increase product value and sales from online shop. Through the application of simple design element, a good and quality online shop will be created so it could help and give benefit for large audience.

Abstract

In the novel "Chun Tao", Xu Dishan created Chun Tao as a new image of women, who has strong survival spirit, firm life philosophy and independent viability. Although Chun Tao’s life was full of suffering, she never gave up hope. Through the analysis of the survival consciousness of Chun Tao revealed her spirits of independent and self-respecting, also showed the glory of humanity distributed by Chun Tao. Through close reading to analyze the character Chun Tao from the perspective of survival, intend to provide a new angle of observation for the reader to understand Chun Tao.

Abstract

According to anthropologist, religion has a close relationship to one nation’s culture. Haggai Institute saw the same perspective of management principles, and more about leadership, where it believes that any organization needs to change paradigm from its comfort zone that mostly everywhere. The research is hoped to be useful in the importance of designing the life purpose in every active Christian leader in building the future of service, family, community, and work. The research result towards alumni of year 2000-2002 of Haggai Institute International Seminar which will significant enough in identify the existence and development that they havedone after joining the Haggai Seminar, especially in designing life purpose individually. Afterward effects from the seminar to graduates year 2000-2002 is well. The alumni seem to have kept and applied Designing Purpose of Life in their own life.

Abstract

In daily life, color gives the spontaneous effect to psychological of people who see that color. When connected to the world of design and advertising, color could become one of the main tools to communicate the message. Therefore, the colour can conduce to increase the sales value or strengthen the image of product or corporate. Color is one of the important parts which can be an attraction of a product, artwork or design. Color provides excellence in design. Each color has difference psychological effects, so that a designer can choose and accommodate the colors with the product to be advertised. Perception of color will be different between one person to the others. It is influenced by the culture of certain countries. In some regions or countries, colors have different meanings, then it becomes the order of designers to compose colors that will be used so thatappropriate to the design that will be made.

DGI-Indonesia.com as a community site is able to answer the new needs of the virtual space. This paper will begin with the history of DGI-Indonesia.com; then the discussion about the roles undertaken by the DGI-Indonesia.com. Research method used in this paper is literature study, continued with reflective data analysis. By the end of the paper, a more comprehensive picture about DGI-Indonesia.com's activities such as a forum for self-actualization, interaction, exploration that helps sustain the development of science-based and creative professions in Indonesia.

Abstract

The research purpose is to gather, collect, and analyze data which needed in creating children story book in pop-up technique, with visually interesting gardening theme to interact with children. The research method is by direct survey into the location, such as schools, children story bookstores, and libraries. Besides, the research will be through literature media like books, magazines and journals; also supported by references contain related topic, like internet. The expected result is that education and added value message could be sent and understood by the children through the story books. The children would acknowledge, love, and preserve nature through gardening. In conclusion, nowadays, visual communication media like story books with interesting visual could gain children’s interest. Therefore, by using pictured story book media in pop-up, it will facilitate the education process of introducing and preserving Mother Nature for children.

Abstract

Broadcasting regulation is one interesting thing to be observed in Indonesia’s television industry development. One television program that mostly having violation of the regulation is Empat Mata which continued with Bukan Empat Mata broadcasted by Trans7. This supports the researcher to do research about how the exact perception of broadcasting practitioners towards broadcasting regulation in Indonesia. The result of qualitative research, which collects data through observation and literature study, shows there is lack of knowledge in broadcasting practitioners about Indonesia’s Broadcasting Commission (KPI) and broadcasting regulation in Indonesia. Besides less socialization, multi-interpretation troubles in some regulations are the probable cause of increasing numbers of violation towards broadcasting regulations. As preventing action, it needs to have open dialog between KPI and broadcasting practitioners as bridging communication of their different authorities, which would be useful to increase quality of television show in Indonesia.

Abstract

More than any other element of design, color has the ability to makes us aware of what we see, for nothing has meaning without color. Color naming tries to describe color of objects surrounding us. The physiology of the eye and how light imparts color to objects, as well as the psychological and cultural factors involved in perception. These factors in turn affect whether an artist chooses to use local, optical, or arbitrary color. The color defines our world. Just like the previous paper, this research uses quantitative and qualitative methods to describe the color names and color names of the new proposed based on the audience choice. Data collected will be used as a proposal of naming colors in Indonesian language that uses the unique natural and cultural riches of Indonesia itself.

Abstract

There are a number of Southeast Asian students begin to learn Chinese in their own country based on traditional Chinese characters. Therefore, author based on own learning experience talked about the influence of mastering traditional characters to learn simplified Chinese characters. By collecting the traditionalcharacter texts, summarizing the occurrence of error categories of simplified Chinese characters, and based on the Chinese character simplification methods in “Fan Jian Zi Duizhao Zidian”, research summed up the difficulties in learning Chinese simplified characters. This study was mainly based on the analogy simplified characters as the breakthrough point. The first part of this article introduces the classification of pictophonogram characters in simplified. The second part of the article introduces the impact of learning simplifiedChinese characters while learners get traditional characters background. The last part, article draws the conclusion that the impact of mastering traditional characters to learn simplified Chinese characters might be a double-edged sword. The proper understanding is helpful to the study of simplified characters, grasp the inappropriate is likely to mislead the learner.
