Abstract

This research performed the authenticity of Javanese ethnic flavor and culture in Javanese ethnic restaurant. This research aims to find out how the owners of the restaurant present the authenticity of the flavor and culture through atmospherics elements and challenges they face in bringing the authenticity of the flavor and culture. This study refers to the previous researches published in both national and international journals. The conceptual literature used in this research is Kotler’s atmospherics concept. This study provides a conceptual contribution to the study of the introduction of communication science and to contribute the thought on how to convey the authenticity of Javanese flavor and culture, considering that the authenticity cannot be determine objectively, but depends on the social construction. This study used Constructivist Paradigm. This research is a descriptive study with qualitative approach using phenomenology method. Subjects of this research were owners of Javanese ethnic restaurant in South Jakarta and Central Jakarta. Purposive sampling technique was used to select the informants using the snowball method. The validity of the study used a standard of credibility with its own specifications. Presenting the authenticity of Javanese ethnic flavor and culture was not an easy task. The restaurant owners could present through the elements of atmospherics emphasizing the ability of the senses of visual, aural, olfactory, and tactile that captured the stimuli in both the interior and exterior of the restaurant, music, scent of the fragrance of flowers and food, as well as room temperature. In addition to the elements, the owners specially brought and used certain ingredients, such as soy, rice, tofu, crackers, and tea, to keep the authenticity of the taste of Javanese cuisine. They believe that the water and soil texture in Java produce different flavors in those materials.

Abstract

Nowadays in Indonesia, more people realize the importance of using Chinese language. Therefore, at Binus University, Mandarin is taught not only in Chinese Literature Department, but also in non-Chinese Literature Department. Because the curriculum is still relatively new, students who have never studied Chinese language find some difficulties. The author through observations in the classroom found some problems that arise during the teaching and learning session. Through this paper, the author hopes to help to solve existing problems, to increase the level of Chinese language knowledge, and help to increase students’ interest in Chinese language.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to find out the reasons Jakarta’s residents in determining the political choice in election 2014. This research was conducted with descriptive qualitative method, by conducting in-depth interviews and a review of the literature in the field. The data from the field through the inductive analysis presented in planned stages. Data were sufficient when it could answer the research subject matter. These results of the research are the characteristic Jakarta’s residents in determining the political choice is very various, there are people who want to get involved in it directly, but also there are people who do not want to get involved.

Abstract

“Great nation is a nation who’s always appreciates their own history,” that was a statement from Bung Karno. This paper is trying to lift a heritage district in Kota Tua Jakarta. A legacy that full of arts, cultures, stories, romance and tragedy that happened, and how the origin of the city formed. It’s very unfortunate if you see the condition right now. When all of the nations soo proud of their culture and history, everyone is competing to maintain and conserve their heritage and run the management very well. What happened with our heritage? Nowadays, Kota Tua district has been revitalized, but sadly, the process didn’t maintained well. So the results looks neglected and not in the good shape.

Abstract

The article discusses business chance in event organizer that could be conducted by anybody. Less employment in this country is not balanced with the amount of college graduates every year, which is getting bigger. Government ability to create new jobs does not give a credible chance for new graduates to work. However, there are still chances in building new jobs by being entrepreneurs in event organizer sector. Event organizer service is a business that gives chances in effective employment for society; especially new college graduates so instead of competing to get jobs, they will create a self-employment and also for others. Beginning business in event organizer is not hard as we thought. In the article, it is attached several tips to begin event organizer business.

Abstract

In post-production process, there is one process that is not as well known as the video editing process, the addition of animation, special effects enrichment, motion graphics or audio editing and audio mixing, an important process which is rarely realized called Color Correction or Color Grading. Various software have been made to handle this process, ranging from additional filters are already available for free in any editing software, to high-end devices worth billions of dollars dedicated for specifically conducting Color Correction. Apple Color is one of the software included in the purchase of Final Cut Studio package which also include Final Cut Pro for Video Editing, Soundtrack Pro for Sound Editing and Mixing, and Motion for compositing. Apple's Color is specially designed for color correction tasks after previously edited in Final Cut Pro. This paper is designed to introduce Apple's software as well as analyze the feasibility of Apple Color as a professional device in the world of production, especially post-production. Some professional color correction software will be compared briefly with Apple Color to get an objective conclusion.

Abstract

Crisis in youth will impact his/her personal growth, attitude, and negative sense in emotional response. The negative sense in emotional response will drive his/her action to do bad things and will disturb his/her life. To understand the negative emotional attitude when youth facing crisis, parents need to understand the crisis period, the roles, and the responsibilities of parents to help the youth overcome the crisis. The explanation is given by using qualitative data analysis and conducted concurrently with gathering data, making interpretations, and writing report. The study shows the negative emotional response of youth will impact the negative attitudes and actions. In this case, parents must guide the youth for spiritual mindsets in order to affect positive emotional attitudes and actions. The positive spiritual action will be reflected by understanding the God’s Words in solving the problem, finding the way out, and overcoming the crisis. Hence, the youth crisis is not a disaster, but the reflection to reach the positive improvement.

Abstract

Event is still a useful media for building good image for certain communities. In addition to functioning as a media ritual, an event which is published through a live broadcast mass media will also increase the brand image of a particular product. Research question in this article is: what are the kinds of the TKI Event held in Taiwan in 2013 and what elements of the event that brings TKI enthusiastic in Taiwan? The method used in this study is a qualitative interpretive. The data was collected through direct observations and impressions of social media such as youtube as well as literature from the source journal from previous research literature or books that support research topic. Conclusion of the study states that the type of event held by workers in Taiwan is a talent contest and stage entertainment. While elements of the event that brings enthusiastic for workers is an event that displays imagery figure, and the appearance of celebrities.

Abstract

Article focused on advertising as one of the most important parts of marketing communication in one of the online shop, TokoBagus. Advertising communicated a message from a certain brand to the target audience through a particular medium. The aim of this research was making advertising with a powerful message, so it was able to become a captain of consciousness that could play an important role in economic and social systems of modern society. Because of its potential power, the creative advertising workers had a big responsibility in their hands. It was not only to explore the creativity visually or verbally to a creative worker, but also, they should understand the purpose of communication, the communication strategy, and the creative strategy. In this case, TokoBagus run this in making advertisement campaign to promote its brand. The method used in this research was the qualitative method and inductive model. Data were collected through an interview, literature, and visual data. Those collected data were analyzed using a qualitative-verificative strategy and case study method. The case study was Toko Bagus advertising campaign from the year 2011 to the year 2014 when finally its name changes into OLX. It finds that the advertisements only become beautiful works of art, but it does not solve the problem of the brand. Therefore, this research is important to document the communication strategy and the creative strategy of an advertising campaign so it can be a reference for a young designers or students.
