The problem identification of this study is how the political message in the TVC construction towards the 2014 election. This study aims to know how the message construction of Hanura, PAN, and Gerindra on TVC ads by the 2014 election and to know the similarities message of Hanura, PAN, and Gerindra ads as the largest ad spender in the TVC. The methodology used is qualitative analysis by Stuart Hall’s reception constructive theory. The results of this study point out that the construction of political message through the TVC from January to March 2014 was in the opposition position. The recipient constructed ideas contrary to the purpose of the advertisers. Thus, marketing communications conducted by the team of political parties in this study did not conform to expectations. While, those three political parties analyzed were carrying the same message that they sided with the poor people and promised to give hope to live well. Conclusions obtained from the results of the research are the construction of the message contains the element of appeals and emotionals instead of the element of arguments and convictions. Abstract

Infotainment as delivered on television occurs to be one controversial TV shows, often accused as a program that practically a "Social Duping". But, in reality these genres frequently achieve rating peak, which in certain will raise TV commercial due to profitable matters for Television Company. Article explores “conspiracies” that occurs based on variable interest between producers, broadcasting industry, rating institutions, and advertisements both for continuity and multiple profit. The main idea of how infotainment dominates both news and entertainment program is caused by social actors' demands that implement in press liberating process in Indonesia whose embrace of neo-liberalism which claimed that “the greater the play of the market forces, the greater the freedom of the press; the greater the freedom of the press, the greater the freedom of the audience choice”. It seems impossible to stop infotainment programs since that alone will subdue both corresponding institution and individual in a certain point of view. Therefore, a regulation that copes with this matter due to continuity of these genres is needed in overcoming matters of “Social Duping”.

Abstract

This study has primary focus to analyze the aesthetic layout of a newspaper with a mathematical approach, which refers to some methods of Birkhoff’s aesthetic measurement developed by David Ngo Chek Ling, et.al. Ngo developed a method of measuring the aesthetic layout that can be used for various design purposes, especially for a computer interface design. Measurement method that he developed refers to the principles of design aesthetics, such as: the principle of balance, the principle of sequence, the principle of unity, and the principle of equilibrium. Birkhoff aesthetic measurement method was used as final analysis to determine the value of aesthetic layout. In this study, some national and local media were selected as samples to determine and assess the aesthetic layout. Based on data analysis, Birkhoff aesthetic measurement method can be applied to measure the aesthetic value of the newspaper layout mathematically.

Abstract

Brand is an intangible asset of an entity. It’s a summary of experiences of an entity. Well-developed brand is a very high value asset, even higher than all of the physical assets owned by the entity. Because brand is created on people’s mind, brand can build customer’s loyalty. Brand can be built in many ways. One of the most important way is designing visual indentity, such as logo. Logo is a graphical element in the form of ideogram, symbol, emblem, icon, sign that is collectively form a trademark or commercial brand. Logo is the entrance that reflects a brand. Because of that, a logo must reflect the soul of the entity. Considering how important a logo for a brand, a logo should be designed seriously. Ironically, there’re so many fast, and cheap logo design services that create an instant logo. Why is it happened? It’s because the brand owners have a lack of awareness of the important of a brand and a logo. It’s also because there are a lot of designers who have no respect on their profession. These kind of designers offer cheap services for an easy money with a little work. This situation can be bad for both of the brand owner and the designer. The price of logo design will be cheaper and cheaper, and the brand will not be developed well. That’s why it’s important to raise the awareness of the importance of a branding and a well designed logo which represent the soul of the entity.

Abstract

This research aimed to get data of Arabic instructional processes; develop Somatic, Auditory, Visual, and Intellectual (SAVI)-based e-module for Arabic instruction at Islamic junior high schools (Madrasah Tsanawiayah - MTs); and obtain empirical data of SAVI-based e-module effectiveness to improve students’ achievement in Arabic lesson. Models of Dick and Carey, as well as Hanaffin and Peck, were utilized and modified into four stages. It comprised of preliminary research, model designing and development, validation, evaluation and revision, as well as model effectiveness test implementation. Overall, the expert judgment on validity model was very good including experts in instructional design, instructional content, and instructional media. Generally, the response of students was also very good regarding one to one learner, small group, as well as field trial on acceptance and utility model. The tryout result of effectiveness model shows that the average pretest score is 48,1666, posttest is 75,775, and the difference between those is 25,608. The value of tobserved is also higher than tcritical (15,42807>2,02268). It means that SAVI-based e-module for Arabic instruction at MTs is effective to improve students’ achievement.
