Abstract

There are three kinds of Kan'youku or idiom verb "dekiru" "できる" namely, (1) 腹 が できる 'hara ga dekiru', meaning the stomach nutrients and when combined with the verb dekiru have had the sense of readiness / commitment, although not in any circumstances will be disappointed / angry, (2) 溝 が できる 'Mizo ga dekiru', Mizo means deep and narrow water channel and when combined with the verb dekiru mean gulf and (3) 耳 に 胼胝 が できる 'mimi ni Tako ga dekiru , mimi means ear and Tako means bones. When combined with the verb dekiru means formed bones in the ear. Idiom is closely associated with the flexibility to speak more than one functional or grammatical level of a language. Someone must have a full understanding of the context of the idiom is to use it properly; because idiom words can be translated literally. By studying the idioms, learners can enter into a language and its roots, in this case cultural roots in the language being studied and how to present it as a form of communication, not merely in its grammatical form.

Abstract

Karmawibhangga Relief panel located at the foot of Borobudur is a relic of the visual artifacts that contains fragments of past life with a very high historical value. 160 Karmawibhangga panels tell the reality of people's lives at the time wrapped with a moral message plight. The relief provides a lot of visual references to be excavated and reconstructed again for the benefit of the creative industries today. This research digged one small part of the masterpieces of the past through photography. Understanding visual artists who create these reliefs will be beauty in the show gestures in building a very interesting story to be re-examined. Visual communication through gestures in relief Karmawibhangga enables new assumptions about body language dialect differences to current conditions. Through model genre photography, it is very useful in connection with the development of local nuanced scientific photography. Efforts to develop the traditions and culture through new media are expected to be creative commodity with a very strong product differentiation.

Abstract

The focus of this research entitled The Relation between Home and Identity in The Girl from The Golden Horn by Kurban Said is the relation of meaning of home and someone’s perspective of identity. The research is conducted by analyzing the two main characters, Asiadeh and Abdul Kerim, and relating the conflicts they are facing to identity concept by Stuart Hall. Hall mentioned that identity is a process of becoming and also a matter of someone’s position in the world. The discussion points out the identity crisis experienced by Asiadeh and Abdul Kerim when as Easterners, they have to live in Western world. It also shows that the characters finally succeeded in finding their home when they have taken their duty given by their their identity as the part of Ottoman Empire, which is to marry each other.

Research on close groups reveals that the construction of a shared reality in the minds of members as well as a shared view and appreciation of their work, the essence of effectiveness.  From the cases analyzed descriptive ensure that the most effective way is, perhaps, to give an example. Personal transparency of the leader disclosing important information about ideas and feelings which are relevant to the group work in a harmonious manner encourages the participation of others.

Abstract

The term human right shows that the power or authority a person has the fundamental nature. Number of cases of human rights violations that occur because of lack of understanding of the intrinsic value of every person so easily violate the rights of others. This violation is influenced by some cause. The most influential factors are political, economic, social, cultural and security. This research is examining the existing literature to find out about the importance of knowing human rights in everyday life in society and among students and to know more deeply about its relationship with democracy. The research methodology is explanatory; data used is data skunde namely from books. Based on research results, it can be concluded that the human rights needs to be communicated and implemented within the life of the community and among students. By knowing the obligations of their human rights and the implementation of human rights will be better again.

Abstract

Citizen journalism has now become one of the most developed television program concepts. If the concept was initially more widely used in radio and online media, this time with easier and cheaper technology coverage and delivery of images, it is a concept that provides a place for people to become amateur journalist that can also be easily applied in the medium of television. Research raised the issue on how the concept and implementation of citizen journalism on television in the era of media convergence. The purpose of this study is to explain concepts and demonstrate the implementation of citizen journalism on television in the era of media convergence. Research used qualitative method in which data were obtained using literature study. Results of the study showed that the implementation of citizen journalism on television is also increasingly facilitated by the entry of the television in the era of media convergence, or different media mingle, such as television with printed, radio, and Internet media. The era of media convergence makes the concept of citizen journalism can be more developed, because the platform or media distribution is also increasingly varied for amateur journalist. However, the system equipment that must be provided, human resources that must be owned, as well as huge capital to be owned make a few television stations open a lot of platforms to provide space for amateur journalist in citizen journalism.

Abstract

This research discussed Jamaican Sound Keroncong (JSK) as a communication media in the global era. The problem of research was that keroncong music tended to be unknown by most young people in Bandung, and it was lost almost a century among them. This research aimed to examine the communication between the structure, agents (SirIyai), and sub-agents (Crispy Crue/the fans), and the appreciation of the keroncong community in Bandung for their performances. Spredlay ethnographic methods were applied. SirIyai was trusted informants and participatory observations, and in-depth interviews were carried out within one year. The research finds that; (1) SirIyai creates a communication media product under the name of JSK as the binding structure between SirIyai as the agent and CCI as the sub-agent; (2) the development of the internet creates dynamics and generates communication space; (3) communication of musical instruments is the basic idea of JSK product creation as communication media; and (4) there is a fundamental change of the old keroncong communication system to that of the youth keroncong in the global era. SirIyai is considered as the role model of the recent keroncong communication and becomes the parameter of creativity of musical mixture of global music era in Bandung.

Abstract

This research aimed to see if learning by teaching (LBT) could really be implemented in classrooms. This case study intended to discover if LBT was applicable to teach tenses. This quantitative research involved 50 students from the two of 8th grade classes in one junior high school in Jakarta, one of which acted as the control group and the other one as the experimental group. This research focused on the learning of five tenses, namely the simple present tense, the simple past tense, the simple future tense, the simple present continuous tense, and the simple present perfect tense. A pre-test was employed before the research started and after the treatment had been given to the experimental group, a post-test was given a week after, and another post-test was given three months later. The results show that LBT helps the subjects learn better. Moreover, they also remember their materials longer. Therefore, LBT can be a good student-centered activity which has been proven successful.
