Abstract

The inserting power of a message into the minds of recipients can be done through various stages of processing and filters contained in each individual recipient. It is a distinctive strength when designers can learn the process so that designing a work of visual design can be conveyed with both in the minds of society ast targets and generate action / feedback is expected. Article analysis the process of how a message in a media was able to convey the reader or viewers. The research was done by doing library research. It can be concluded that feeling, thinking, and actioning are process that influence people in understanding a message in a media.

Abstract

Competitive management and organization theorists must be able to manage and publish the knowledge management concept as competitive advantages. They suggest that in order to keep on competing, the organization must efficiently and effectively create, locate, gather, and share knowledge and skills to apply knowledge in solving problems and exploiting chances. The purpose of this article is to identify that organization culture has a close relationship with knowledge management in supporting environment or situation having a high possibility of sharing knowledge. If the organization does not assume that sharing knowledge is one important thing for organization development, then the inside culture will not support knowledge sharing atmosphere.

Abstract

Since the beginning logo recognized, it already has experienced development in terms of reasoning aspect. At the beginning logo meant words, mind, symbol, image, and semiotic, then changes into flag, signature, and symbol, which indirectly can provide the identity, information, and persuasion that eventually functions as media for marketing. In the design world, it always appears questions about the importance of a logo should be designed. Here is the thing discussed through the description of the function of a logo and the process of designing a logo. Because not all the redesign of an existing logo will bring better imaging results although the main goal of designing a logo is for positive things.

Abstract

Strange Stories of a Chinese Studio, commonly known as 聊斋 (Liaozhai) is a short novel written in classical Chinese from Qing dynasty. This novel was written in 1680, year 19 of Emperor Kangxi’s reign. The novel has 491 chapters. Article explored Pu Songling’s mannerism, such as the contents, material collection, innovation of artistic literary elements and images of women. It can be concluded that  the novel reflects the broadness of humanistic world and thoroughly describes images of women. It broke through the restriction of thoughts in feudalism society.

Abstract

Case study in Institution X is purposed to see connection between new employee selection result as psychological test and employee interview in KPI, a competencies and total score after working at least 1 year. This case study related to how important the connection between the two variables, especially related to validity from existing selection test. This research uses quantitative method (statistical calculation) with gathering main data in Institution X, with descriptive and correlation method. Subjects are 160 employees selected on 2008 and have been through performance evaluation on 2009, in different positions and levels. The general result shows that there is no significant connection between test result and employees’ performance result in KPI, competencies and total score. Suggestion for this study is by giving test tools renovation for selecting new employees.

Abstract

Marriage is one of young adulthood’s developmental task. The beginning phase of marriage is often beyond expectation of the newlyweds, it is a hard adjustment time for the couples. Therefore, adjustment in this phase is crucial for future marriage quality. The aim of this research is to describe the dyadic adjustment of young adult couples in the beginning phase of their marriage, using Spanier’s dimension of dyadic adjustment. This reasearch use qualitative approach with interview and observation as data collection method. This research found that in dyadic consensus, one couple see a disagreement because of different way of thinking. In dyadic cohesion, one couple feel that they are lack of intimacy. In dyadic satisfaction, the couples tend to feel satisfied. While in  affectional expression, the couples tend to express affection thruouh physical contact and behaviour that accord with their couple’s preference. Areas that could be improved are couple’s communication to reach dyadic concensus and couple’s intimacy to increase dyadic cohession.

Abstract

Democratic development for more than 14 years was seen walking "back and forth", one reason is the slow process of the professionalism of the Indonesian National Army (TNI). In history, that the lack of military professionalism has resulted in the birth of military force against civilians, and military involvement in politics, it ultimately undermined democracy that aims to strengthen civil society. The purpose of this study is to describe and analyze the process of democratic development through the realization of military professionalism. The research method used was qualitative method through the use of primary data (observations and interviews) and secondary data (media and documents). Democratic development aims to generate social and political conditions better, one that supports that effort is the creation of military professionalism. But today, it is appeared several groups trying to restore military strength in practical politics. Based on the discussion, the writer concludes that efforts to build democracy in Indonesia met with resistance. This is due to the persistence of the effort to bring the military back into the world of practical politics.

Abstract

This study focuses on the communications that was built by the Public Relations (PR) in East Jakarta Administration City Government with the Press community through their roles in the administrative activities of government. The purpose of this study was to determine the PR activities of East Jakarta Administration City Government in establishing good communication with the Press as the government's partner in promoting the various activities that are beneficial to society. The research method used in this study is a case study (case study). The results showed that the role of Public Relations of East Jakarta Administration City Government in establishing good communication with the press, is done through activities, such as press conferences, press releases, and press gathering. All activities are done well, so as to create a communication and a good relationship, in any cooperation between the Press and the Government of East Jakarta, making it easier for local governments in disseminating various work programs.

Abstract

Artistic abilities of students who had been enrolled in Arts Educations Department of UNESA, in general, were a lack in realizing artistic aspect. It created the problems in learning and teaching of art. The purpose of this research was to increase the students’ sensitivity in creating their work. One way to solve this problem was by doing the work as much as possible, but the results were not fully obtained. So far, there were no standardized guidelines to help the improvement of the work quality in term artistic achievement level. While it became a problem in learning, there was an effort to find a simple and effective way by mixed media watercolor paint and wax. The method in this research was the design of class action research, where the research was conducted in the learning process of each cycle. Every cycle consists of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The result of this research shows an increasing of artistic quality regarding practical grades of art. However, there are other alternatives must be sought to increase students’ ability to create, view, appreciate something that is artistic.
