Abstract

To support customer loyalty programs, the travel agencies gave a souvenir to their customers. In one of the travel agencies in Jakarta, the demand for travel agency services could not be ensured. This had an impact on inventory items that were surplus to requirements. Inventory management was done by combining classifications ABC and (Q, R) with Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) model, which was usually used for uncertain demand. With “A” classification of the goods, two model (Q, R) scenarios were made and then simulated with software Arena. From these two scenarios, the results show that both have a tendency to decline, or the stockouts occur. However, the second scenario is more optimistic because a dummy variable is added the second scenario. Thus, the tendency is stable and does not decline.

Abstract

This research is based on the rapid development of the culinary and information technology. The difficulties in communicating with the culinary expert and on recipe documentation make a proper support for media very important. Therefore, a web-based database application for the public is important to help the culinary community in communication, searching and recipe management. The aim of the research was to design a web-based database application that could be used as social media for the culinary community. This research used literature review, user interviews, and questionnaires. Moreover, the database system development life cycle was used as a guide for designing a database especially for conceptual database design, logical database design, and physical design database. Web-based application design used eight golden rules for user interface design. The result of this research is the availability of a web-based database application that can fulfill the needs of users in the culinary field related to communication and recipe management.

Abstract

The students’ academic performance is one of important evaluation factors in accreditation. It is interesting to explore the factors which give impact to the academic achievement or performance. This research put academic performance as the research problem. Since this research was combining two disciplines: information systems (IS) and educational management (EM), it set Internet Use (representing IS) and self-esteem (representing EM) as factors impacting the academic performance. Moreover, this research used the quantitative method. Based on the quantitative research model, the research used primary data collected from students of ABFI Institute of Perbanas, Jakarta. The data was calculated using a statistical tool called SPSS. The descriptive statistics was also applied to describe the variables, and regression technique was for describing the relationship between the variables. After analyzing the data, the research finds that self-esteem affects the academic performance significantly and positively, but the Internet use does not impact the academic performance significantly.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to create a closed-domain of automated question answering system specifically for events called Eve. Automated Question Answering System (QAS) is a system that accepts question input in the form of natural language. The question will be processed through modules to finally return the most appropriate answer to the corresponding question instead of returning a full document as an output. Thescope of the events was those which were organized by Students Association of Computer Science (HIMTI) in Bina Nusantara University. It consisted of 3 main modules namely query processing, information retrieval, and information extraction. Meanwhile, the approaches used in this system included question classification, document indexing, named entity recognition and others. For the results, the system can answer 63 questions for word matching technique, and 32 questions for word similarity technique out of 94 questions correctly.

Abstract

Based on the informal survey, learning algorithm time complexity in a theoretical manner can be rather difficult to understand. Therefore, this research proposed Complexitor, an educational tool for learning algorithm time complexity in a practical manner. Students could learn how to determine algorithm time complexity through the actual execution of algorithm implementation. They were only required to provide algorithm implementation (i.e. source code written on a particularprogramming language) and test cases to learn time complexity. After input was given, Complexitor generated execution sequence based on test cases and determine its time complexity through Pearson correlation. An algorithm time complexity with the highest correlation value toward execution sequence was assigned as its result. Based on the evaluation, it can be concluded this mechanism is quite effective for determining time complexity as long as the distribution of given input set is balanced.

Abstract

This research had two main objectives. The first research objective was to make the right design of new product according to customer requirements with the implementation of Quality Function Deployment (QFD) in the tire industry. The second research objective was to enhance competitiveness based on the renewal of marketing strategy and consumer needs, non-explosive prohibition, non-slip tires, no bulgy, and competitive prices. The research was carried out by using costumer satisfaction rating by comparing with the competitor companies. Based on calculation using QFD method, it shows that split liner has the highest percentage of technical requirement in tire industry about 30,57%. The second factor is pattern design about 25,98%. Then, the third factor is compound technology about 22,68%. Therefore, the researchers can recommend several strategies for the quality improvement based on customer needs for the tire industry.

Abstract

This research proposed new method to improve performance of WSN. It used network coding on transmission scheme. The researcher had modified the existing network coding multipath routing for a novel node selection to own residual power node in network coding routing mechanism and to improve reliability of a WSN. This routing mechanism was placed in router for routing purpose. Then, Software network simulation method was done by using OMNET++ platform and MiXiM Framework library. The result shows that proposed method to select nodes and execute network coding succeeds on improving performance of WSN like the reliability compared to the previous method.

Abstract

This research intended to understand the factors affecting the acceptance of Bitcoin technology in Indonesia. It adopted the model of Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT), which took into account four influencing factors. Those were performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, and facilitating conditions. The factors of gender and age were assumed to moderate the relations between those four factors and use and behavioral intention. The empirical data for those factors were collected by questionnaires from 49 respondents. The statistical significance of the relationships was evaluated by multivariate regression analysis. The result is a model that matches the data with R2 = 0,678. It demonstrates a high level of fitness. The analysis suggests that the performance expectancy factor and the social influence factor greatly affect the behavioral intention to use Bitcoin with the values of t-statistic of 3,835 (p-value = 0,000) for the former factor and 1,948 (0,059) for the latter factor. However, the social influence factor has less profound effect on the behavioral intention.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to build cloud computing referring to Roadmap for Cloud Computing Adoption (ROCCA) model so that the best strategy could be implemented in PT Matrica Consulting Service. The implementation of cloud computing had five stages modifications ROCCA adoption model. Those stages were analysis, design, adoption, migration, and management. Data were taken from distributing questionnaires and conducted interviews with R&D Manager and analyzed using SWOT analysis. The result is the implementation of cloud computing models, and implementation of private cloud and Software as a Service (SaaS) needs to be modified so it can be implemented properly. The implementation canincrease the performance PT Matrica Consulting Service based on the characteristics of the cloud which is flexible and secure to be accessed as long as it is connected to the Internet and maintained properly.

Abstract

This research proposed a new method to enhance Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) detection attack on Software Defined Network (SDN) environment. This research utilized the OpenFlow controller of SDN for DDoS attack detection using modified method and regarding entropy value. The new method would check whether the traffic was a normal traffic or DDoS attack by measuring the randomness of the packets. This method consisted of two steps, detecting attack and checking the entropy. The result shows that the new method can reduce false positive when there is a temporary and sudden increase in normal traffic. The new method succeeds in not detecting this as a DDoS attack. Compared to previous methods, this proposed method can enhance DDoS attack detection on SDN environment.
