Fiqh learning is a part of learning process in PAI (Islamic Education) subject given to students especially the elementary ones. It is the responsibility of all teachers and parents to provide the children’s needs, clothing, as well as Islamic education. However, from the field observation, some of parents pay little attention to their children’s religious education as if such education were only the responsibility of formal educational institution. This present research aims to investigate what the level of elementary school students’ understanding on shalat is, how the process of fiqh learning is conducted, and what obstacles the teacher encounter in this learning. This research uses analytical descriptive method with the approach of library research and field research. The data were collected through observation, interview, and field research. The findings of this research reveal that some students in 2 elementary schools; SDN 2 and SDN 6 have not yet understood the concept of shalat; some of them are not able to recite and memorize do’a in. On the other hand, students in SDN 1 Kutamakmur has understood the concept and process of shalat and are able to recite and memorize do’a in shalat. The process of fiqh learning in SDN 2 and SDN 6 Kutamakmur North Aceh has not yet run properly because some students are not able to memorize do’a in shalat as it is expected. The obstacles the teachers encounter is the limited time availability to do practice in school, the lack of parents’ guidance in teaching and urging their children to do shalat. Hence, students only learn this at school without parents’ guidance and some of students are not able to recite and memorize do’a in shalat.

This paper is aimed at discussing on Small Group Discussion and Snowballing techniques enhance students’ self-efficacy and speaking skill on hortatory exposition text at class XI State Islamic Senior High School 1 Padang in academic year 2016/2017. The experimental research type and factorial design were used to conduct the research. Two groups of experimental classes, who were cluster randomly selected, were taught by different techniques. First group was taught by Snowballing and second one was taught by Small Group Discussion. Both groups were given post-test after they got different treatments to find out whether both two groups shown differences and the effectiveness of the different treatments. Speaking test and questionnaires were used to collect the data. The t- test and two ways ANOVA were used to analyze the data. The results of the research have shown that students who were taught by snowballing were better than those who were taught by small group discussion in speaking skill on hortatory text. The students’ self-efficacy in speaking skill that was taught by snowballing was higher than that was taught by small group discussion. The students with high self-efficacy got higher speaking score than students with low self-efficacy. It is concluded that Snowballing technique gives more significant effect on students self-efficacy in speaking skill than Small Group discussion one. It is recommended that English teachers have to use Snowballing technique to increase students’ self-efficacy and skill in speaking.

The purpose of this research is to develop mathematics learning devices in the form of Lesson Plan (RPP) and Student Assignment (LKPD) based Realistic Mathematics Education(RME) on probability materials in line with curriculum 2013. In addition, this research aims to describe the quality of developed learning devices in both validity and practicality aspects. This is a development research with 4D model including define, design, develop and disseminate. The researcher modified the development model by simplified the model through limit the research up to develop stage by considering the time and the cost. The define stage consists of: a) curriculum analysis; b) student analysis; and c) concept analysis. The design stage consists of: a) Lesson Plan design; b) Student Assignment design; c) instrument design and validation on assessment instrument of learning devices. Meanwhile, the develop stage consists of: a) the validation of learning devices by the expert and mathematics teacher; b) testing; and c) the questionnaire of both teacher and students responses. This research produces mathematics learning devices in the form of Lesson Plan and Student Assignment basedRealistic Mathematics Education (RME) on Probability materials class X. The research findings shows that according to expert and mathematics teacher assessment, the developed learning devices are valid with 3.25 on average for lesson plan and 3.48 on average for student assignment. The result of the teacher response on the questionnaire shows that student response and interview display that mathematics learning devices in the form of lesson plan and student assignment are practical to be used on mathematics learning particularly on probability materials with 3.50 on average for Lesson Plan and 3.30 on average for Student Assignment.

Reading is an activity to get information from the written text. However, the students still have didifficulty when they read. So,  to solve the students'dstudents' problems, the researchers used Phrase - Cued text (PCT) strategy in teaching reading. The purpose of this research was to know the significant effect of teaching reading by using PCT at the eight grade students of SMPN 2 Harau in 2016/217 academic year. This research was an experimental research. The population of this research was the eight grade students of SMP N 2 Harau in 2016/2017 academic year. There were seven classes of eight grade. The sample of this research chosen by using cluster sampling. The experimental class was VIII.6 had been taught by using PCT and the control class was VIII. 7 had  been taught by using conventional strategy. The instrument of this research was reading test in multiple choice form. It was valid because the students have learnt the material and had been stated in syllabus and based on curriculum. Then,  the instrument was reliable because the coefficient of reliability of split half was 0.78. The researchers analyzed the data by using t-test suggested by Gay et Al. The result of the data analysis was t-calculated (3.97) t-table (2.042) where the level of significant was 0.05 with degree freedom was 38. H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. So,  it can be concluded that there was significant effect of teaching reading by using PCT strategy at the eight grade students of SMP N 2 Harau. So, it is suggested for English teacher to use this PCT strategy in reading lesson.

The aim of the study is to investigate the pros and cons of standing while working and studying. A qualitative research was employed where the data taken from education practitioners and students interested to learn and support the introduction of standing desks. The finding of the study show that students and sedentary workers now spend up to 85% of their waking hours,(+/-13.5 hrs/day), sitting viz: sitting at meals, sitting in transportation, sitting in schools or offices, sitting watching TV or looking at a handphone or an i-pad plus sitting whilst watching sport or playing computer games. Even if standing in classes became the default behaviour in all classes it could only result in a maximum of about 20 extra hours of standing per week during semesters and thus could only reduce the amount of time spent sitting by a maximum of 14% of waking hours to 71% of waking hours. The height of Standing Desks should be at the elbow height of the person concerned ie about 1.00m for senior high school and university students and adults. For primary school students the desk height for the standing desk is about 75cm – ie. the same as the desk height for normal sitting desks for adults. The study also did a small survey of educators, 66% of whom would support the introduction of standing desks. Finally the study found that 72 % of the students and their teacher supported the introduction of standing desks. It is hoped that some schools and offices will take the initiative to introduce standing desks on a larger scale.

Metacognition has been popular in reading area, especially when it is related to comprehension and the representation of meanings. Combining metacognitive strategies to represent meanings from a text has been done by previous scholars to help readers construct meaning. In this paper, we present students’ drawings and writings as the results of successive visualisation and summarisation activities in the classroom. We intended to find out the extent to which students’ visual representations can be the guideline for them to write summaries. By employing qualitative research method, we collected visual representations and summaries from 26 undergraduate students studying at the English Education Department of Syiah Kuala University. To understand students’ drawings, we consulted some literature on visual literacy and multimodality; while for the analysis of students’ writings, we reviewed some literature on functional model to language. Based on the analysis, a productive visual representation leads to a strong summary, and vice versa. This result is further discussed in this paper.
