Abstract

Doom Island administratively included in the Islands Sorong District, City of Sorong, West Papua Province. Island of Doom was formerly the seat of government Onderafdeling (subsections) Raja Ampat placed an HPB (Hoofd van Plaatselijk bestuur). Until the 1950’s Island of Doom a warehousing hub and trading port of Sorong. It is estimated there are many buildings of the colonial legacy infrastructure to support the purposes of Dutch life Doom Island.

Abstract

Artifacts store messages from the past. An artifact is a reflection of human culture whose support the culture of using artifact. Similarly, artifacts found in Sokoliman’s Cultural Heritage which consist of megalithic objects. These artifacts have undergone a transformation; experienced manufacture, use, until the deposition. Today, these artifacts are in the midst of community and given a new meaning based on their own perspective. Giving meaning is closely related to the existence of sites community’s perspective. The meaning that given by community can be a reflection on the preservation of the site itself.

Abstract

Research in Sarmi District East Coast West performed Wakde Island. That reveal the history of life during World War II through the remains-the remains contained in the Region. Wakde is an area that can be said to be a center of colonial activity that leaves traces the history and culture of the past, which are still visible physical form remains Based on the survey results illustrate that Wakde Island is one of the historic places once inhabited by Japanese soldiers and captured by Allied forces at the outbreak of the Pacific war.

Abstract

Based on the results achieved demonstrate the scope of the research and development of archaeological studies covering seven themes, namely: (i) human and cultural end of the Pleistocene, (ii) human and Austronesian culture, (iii) the early history of civilization, (iv) the influence of Islamic civilization (v) the influence of colonial civilization, (vi) assessment of public archeology, and (vii) maritime archeology. Jayapura Archeology do four step strategy of dividing the focal areas of research, establish policy follows national archaeological assessment, which consists of nine themes, conduct integrated research, mapping the research level typology of three types: (i) basic research / pure research (ii) research applied (iii) ad hoc research. In addition to research in rural areas also need to be conducted in the coastal areas tertama outer islands of Papua.

Abstract

Archaeology is the study of human society, primarily through the recovery and analysis of the material culture and environmental data that they have left behind. One of the archaeological data found in Kikim River, Lahat Regency South Sumatra and has been reported by the archaeologist years before. Although the report was very potential, not so many researches have led in Kikim River up until 2008. In 2008 Kikim River and its branches showed many stone tools on the surface. The research began around the River by surveying the surface and taking stone artifacts. These stone artifacts determined by stone tool characteristics and technology. From survey, 134 stone tools had been found in Kikim River, Saling River, Pangi River, and Mpayang River.

Abstract

Burial conducted Ngalum tribe in earlier times, was the body buried in a hollowed out tree, and burial in caves or large gravel pit. archaeological explorations in the Star Mountains District found two caves in Oksibil District are: Cave Mendalbuk in Kampung Kabiding which functioned as a burial cave, and 1 piece of a niche in the alcove Angsamok Serambakon District Villages Wambakon which functioned as a burial niche.

Abstract

The slopes of Mount Merapi are found the remains of the temple of the Ancient Mataram Kingdom. The temples are lava eruption buried for hundreds of years. One finding of the temple is a temple complex Kimpulan its Integrated Campus Indonesian Islamic University (UII) in Yogyakarta Jalan Kaliurang Km 14. Kimpulan temple discovered during the construction of the central library UII intact no damage. In this article, try to find out the views of the academic community of the existence of temples Kimpulan UII.

Abstract

This paper shows and explains about the Ormu’s folklores based the prehistoric objects on Ormu Island. This paper purposes to show and explain about the Ormu’s folklores based to the prehistoric objects on Ormu Island. This research uses the descriptive method. The technique of this research are the observe technique and library technique. The result of this research; 1) to find three folklores about the prehistoric objects in Ormu Island, and 2) to describe three folklores about the prehistoric objects in Ormu Island. That folklores are; 1) Kisah Raksasa dan Suku Ormu, it was retold by Monika Toto, 2) Raksasa Jahat Penghuni Kampung Ormu, it was retold by Monika Toto, and 3) Terjadinya Pulau Kelapa, it was retold by Monika Toto.
