Abstract

Research on the form of the people’s livelihood support Gunung Srobu sites is very important. This research aims to determine the extent of the development of human knowledge and ability to face the challenges of the natural environment to maintain the existence of the community, as well as expertise in generating technology equipment. Since the public support for culture Gunung Srobu Site does not exist any longer, so the study of forms of livelihood can be done through cultural material remnants preserved their activities. This study uses a qualitative approach to the form of inductive reasoning, while strategies are applied through literature and field observations. All the data collected in this study is then processed by indentifying by type and analyzed qualitative description that aims to know the meaning or interpret the empirical reality that the objects contained in the study. The results of this study are in the form of various types of artifacts such as pottery, stone tools, tool shells, animal bone remains, and shells litter. Culture material is closely related to the public livelihood support form Gunung Srobu site namely horticulture, hunting, gathering, fishing, farming, and industry. AbstrakPenelitian tentang bentuk matapencaharian masyarakat pendukung situs Gunung Srobu sangat penting dilakukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perkembangan pengetahuan manusia dan kemampuannya dalam menghadapi tantangan lingkungan alam demi mempertahankan eksistensi komunitasnya, serta kemahirannya dalam menghasilkan teknologi peralatan hidup. Karena masyarakat pendukung budaya situs Gunung Srobu sudah tidak ada, maka kajian tentang bentuk matapencahariannya dapat dilakukan melalui kajian terhadap materi budaya sisa-sisa aktivitasnya yang terawetkan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pendekatan kualitatif dengan bentuk penalaran induktif, sedangkan strategi pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui studi pustaka dan observasi di lapangan. Semua data yang berhasil dihimpun dalam penelitian ini kemudian diolah dengan mengidentifikasi berdasarkan jenisnya dan kemudian dianalisis deskriptif kualitatif untuk memahami makna atau menafsirkan realitas empiris yang terkandung pada objek-objek kajian. Penelitian ini berhasil menemukan beragam jenis artefak seperti tembikar, alat batu, alat kerang, sisa tulang binatang, dan sampah kerang. Materi-materi budaya tersebut berkaitan erat dengan bentuk matapencaharian masyarakat pendukung situs Gunung Srobu yaitu bercocoktanam, berburu, meramu, nelayan, beternak, dan industri.

Abstract

The Dutch Colonial Government came to Hollandia (Jayapura) around 1946, then they made Nimboran district as a farming base, particularly on cacao and rice. In this farming system, the community of Nimboran was also provided farming tools by the Colonial Government that helped them to work. The Government also guided them to get their principle commodities and to sell their farm products. Therefore, the main focus on this research is the influence of the Colonial Government in agriculture for the Nimboran Community.

Abstract

Research in Sarmi District East Coast West performed Wakde Island. That reveal the history of life during World War II through the remains-the remains contained in the Region. Wakde is an area that can be said to be a center of colonial activity that leaves traces the history and culture of the past, which are still visible physical form remains Based on the survey results illustrate that Wakde Island is one of the historic places once inhabited by Japanese soldiers and captured by Allied forces at the outbreak of the Pacific war.

Abstract

In this paper, which is based on anthropological fieldwork in the Province of Papua, and literature research in archaeology and anthropology, we attempt to give an overview over the present status of research in Tanah Papua, with special focus on the prehistory and anthropology of groups in the interior, especially on the little known “Ok-Mek Minisphere” as well as on the potential routes of prehistoric migration to New Guinea and into the Star Mountains.  ABSTRAKTulisan didasarkan pada penelitian lapangan antropologi di Papua, dan penelitian kepustakaan arkeologi dan antropologi. Dalam penelitian ini mencoba untuk memberikan gambaran mengenai perkembangan penelitian saat ini di Papua, dengan fokus pada prasejarah dan antropologi di pedalaman, terutama di wilayah “Ok- Mek” yang sangat potensial sebagai jalur migrasi prasejarah ke New Guinea dan masuk ke Pegunungan Bintang.

Abstract

The pig is an integral part of the culture in the highlands of Papua. Nevertheless, to this day still happening cross of opinion among experts about when the first swine entered in Papua. This paper will discuss the beginning of pigs in Papua and Papuan cultural values associated with the presence of a pig. Data was collected with a literature study, in this paper used descriptive qualitative method. Beginning of the presence of swine in Papua brought by Austronesian speakers. Pig bones found in cave sites north coast of Papua. The presence of pigs in Papua are very influential in Papuan culture. ABSTRAKBabi merupakan bagian yang tak terpisahkan dari budaya di daerah dataran tinggi Papua. Meskipun demikian, sampai hari ini masih saja terjadi persilangan pendapat antar para ahli mengenai kapan pertama kali babi masuk di Papua. Tulisan ini akan membahas awal mula babi di Papua dan nilai-nilai budaya Papua yang terkait dengan keberadaan babi. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan studi kepustakaan, dalam tulisan ini digunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Awal mula keberadaan babi di Papua dibawa oleh penutur Austronesia. Tulang-tulang babi ditemukan di situs-situs gua pesisir utara Papua. Keberadaan babi di Papua sangat berpengaruh pada budaya Papua.

Abstract

The geographical condition of Papua Mountain Range is hard to reach, isolated from the landline, and possessing a community that lives in prehistoric tradition. Airplane becomes the most effective means of transportation to connect the world. This study is aimed to find out the history of aviation pioneer in the Mountain Range of Papua as well as its role in modernizing the local civilization. The methods used in this research are field observation and literature review. The analysis uses historical and contextual environment approaches. Aviation in the Mountain Range of Papua is pioneered by missionaries of Colonial era. The aviation pioneer has opened communication to the world and created new civilization. During its development, educational and medical facilities, economic and governmental activities are established and centered nearby the airport. AbstrakKondisi geografis pegunungan Papua sangat sulit dijangkau, terisolasi jalur darat, masyarakatnya hidup dalam tradisi prasejarah. Pesawat terbang menjadi satu-satunya sarana transportasi yang paling efektif untuk menghubungkan dengan dunia luar. Tujuan tulisan ini yaitu untuk mengetahui sejarah penerbangan perintis di pegunungan Papua serta peran penerbangan perintis di pegunungan Papua dalam memodernkan peradaban setempat. Metoda penelitian yang digunakan yaitu observasi lapangan dan studi pustaka. Analisis menggunakan pendekatan sejarah dan pendekatan kontekstual lingkungan. Penerbangan perintis di pegunungan Papua dipelopori oleh misionaris pada masa pemerintahan Belanda. Penerbangan perintis telah membuka komunikasi dengan dunia luar serta memunculkan peradaban baru. Dalam perkembangannya didirikan fasilitas pendidikan, kesehatan dan aktivitas ekonomi serta pemerintahan berpusat di sekitar lapangan terbang.

Abstract

Trade in the Indonesian archipelago has been there the eastern coastal areas of Sumatra coast before the establishment of maritime Srivijaya kingdom. The existence of human life activity obtained from the intensive research conducted in the Palembang Central Archaeological (Balai Arkeologi Palembang) in Air Sugihan and Karangagung Sites. Archaeological finds indicate the site in both the supporting community has interacted with the outside world. This paper will discuss the interaction of what the public do support both the site from the evidence the archaeological remains
