Abstract

Since researchs on diversity of epiphytic Bryophytes are more common observed on Angiospermae than those on Gymnospermae, this study was conducted to observe diversity of epiphytic Bryophytes on Gymnospermae in BBG. The Bryophytes samples were collected from Gymnosperms trees in Blok I which is Cycadaceae familly and those in Blok II which are the familly of Pinaceae, Araucariaceae, Gnetaceae dan Podocarpaceae. Only the trees have diameter ≥ 20 cm of trunk were sampled. Bryophytes were collected from the trunk base at 0–200 cm above the ground, at four cardinal direction (north, south, west, and east). In total 18 species of epiphytic Bryophytes were found, included 12 genera and 7 families. The family which had the highest number of species was Lejeuneaceae. The most common species on Gymnosperm trees in the Botanical Garden were Lejeunea tuberculosa and Octoblepharum albidum. Both of them were found at 6 trees of 13 total tree samples. The species were found more frequently at west (2,1%) and north (1,8%) part than east and south part of the host trees. They more frequently inhabit the trunk base on 0–100 cm than 100–200 cm.

Abstract

The Chinese ladder brake fern, P.vittata, shows considerable morphological variations and has wide geographical distribution throughout the world. In India and China this species was reported as cryptic species with five cytotypes, namely diploid, triploid, tetraploid, pentaploid and hexaploid, and has basic chromosome number 29. Cytological studies on P. vittata in Indonesia is vew informed. There were two ploidi levels and reproduction type among 37 individuals of P. vittata in Java, sexual tetraploid (2n = 4x = 116) and apogamy pentaploid (2n = 5x = 145). Pentaploid is a new record in Java. The tetraploid and pentaploid types were morphologically not differentiated clearly, but the pentaploid has larger stomata size than that of the tetraploid.

Abstract

Mount Rinjani, lies in the island of Lombok, is believed as the major source of plant diversity in the island today. This is caused primarily by the rapid land conversion on the less steep plains for agricultural industries. Although in sum of less than 50% of the estimated native plant species, the endemic inhabit the mountain area is of important in conservation since very limited information known to these species. At the same time, the habitat is threaten by tourism activities, mainly on the tracks lead to the caldera. There is an urgent need to esta-blish a working conservation strategy to ensure the sustainability of them. In this paper, the occurrence of endemic species based on herbarium records and literatures with the proposed conservation strategy is discussed

Nina Ratna Djuita & Muhammad Jusuf. 2006. The use of Multivariate Analysis in Numerical Taxonomy : Case of Two, Soybean Cultivars and Their Generation (F2). Floribunda 3(1): 10-18. --- Multivariate analysis was applied to the morphological data of Slamet and Nokon Sawon cultivars and their generation (F2). This research was intended to compare multivariate analysis namely principal component analysis and disciminant analysis to two cultivars above and their generation. The first analysis resulted 2 and 7 principal components of covariance and correlation matrix for original data while data transformed revealed 5 and 8 principal components of covariance and correlation matrix respectively. Based on discriminant analysis, Nokon and Sawon’s cultivar can be successfully classified as a single group different from the rest.

Abstract

Glomeromycota is a group of arbuscular fungi (AF) which usually grow on rhizosphere of higher plants either dicots or monocots, and lower plants. Information on its diversity, particularly in Indonesia remains underexplored. As a result, this study is carried out in order to fill the gap on the information of Glomeromycota diversity surrounding Pandanus tectorius. The soil samples were collected from Pandanus grow in coastal forests in southern part of West Java, villages in West, Central and East Java including Madura Island. Glomeromycota spores were isolated from soils around rhizosphere of pandan and were identified using their morphological characters. Ten species of Glomeromycota were associated with pandan rhizosphere that belong to genera Acaulospora (3 species), Claroideoglomus (1 species), Funneliformis (1 species), Glomus (2 species), Racocetra (1 species), Sclerocystis (2 species), and Glomus glomerulatum is a new record for Java. The record of each species is presented
