Abstract

The diversity of plants in Sumatra can be considered poorly known for the native species and the alien or non-native species. Recently, some new records of alien plant species have been added to the flora of Sumatra. Explorations were conducted to look for another undocumented alien plant species in this island in Langsa City, Aceh Province and Ogan Komering Ulu Regency, Sumatra Selatan Province. The results showed ten additional records of alien plants for Sumatra: Acalypha herzogiana (Euphorbiaceae), Coccinia grandis (Cucurbitaceae), Coleus monostachyus (Lamiaceae), Crossandra infundibuliformis (Acanthaceae), Ficus natalensis subsp. leprieurii (Moraceae), Melaleuca linariifolia (Myrtaceae), Ochna thomasiana (Ochnaceae), Ruellia simplex (Acanthaceae), Solanum diphyllum (Solanaceae), and Wrightia antidysenterica (Apocynaceae). Two of them (C. monostachyus and S. diphyllum) are already naturalized while others are in cultivation, or a few of them relicts of it. All species are listed, discussed, and provided with photographs to aid identification.

Abstract

Ibna Hayati, Alex Hartana, Nina Ratna Djuita & Nunik Sri Ariyanti. 2022. Morphological Variation of Kedondong  (Spondias dulcis Parkinson) in Central Part of  Sumatra. Floribunda 6(8): 315–323 — Kedondong (Spondias dulcis Parkinson), is widely cultivated in the tropics and reported possibly native plant from Malesia and Pacific. Since a long time several regions in Indonesia has been known as producing area. Around 60s, Sumatra has reputable kedondong from sabang which has sweet flavour and large size. However information on the morphological variation of kedondong germplasm is still limited. The objective of this study was to describe and grouped morphological variation of kedondong germplasm in central part of Sumatra. The specimens were explored and collected from Riau, West Sumatra, and Jambi. Fifty morphological characters were observed and scored for grouping analysis using UPGMA methods. Some characteristics of kedondong from central part of Sumatra are very varied. The kedondong specimens in the cluster analysis grouped into two main groups A and B based on the color of the mature fruit, but these characteristics may not qualify to be used as standard criteria for evaluating cultivated variety because within the group there are still variations in other characters, such as size and shape of the fruits. However based on fruit type, sweet kedondong tends to has oblong type.

Abstract

Abstract

Acmella brachyglossa and A. radicans are introduced species native to Central and South America. Here, both species are formally reported for the first time in Java. Acmella brachyglossa is characterized by its pale yellow-colored heads and has 5‒8 ray flowers. Meanwhile, A. radicans has discoid heads, 4-merous flowers, and white-coloured. Acmella brachyglossa was collected from West Java (Sumedang Regency and Bogor Regency). While A. radicans was found in West Java (Bandung Regency, Bandung City, Sumedang Regency) and Central Java (Temanggung Regency). Descriptions, illustrations, a key to Acmella of Java, and a brief discussion are presented in this paper.
