Abstract

Lima bean (Phaseolus lunatus L.) is one of the important legume vegetables in Indonesia. However, genetic information for these plants is still minimalized, especially on Timor Island. This study aims to analyze the genetic diversity of lima beans from Timor Island based on ISSR molecular markers. A total of 4 accessions of lima beans were analyzed using 3 ISSR primers to produce 15 polymorphic bands with an average of 68.18% polymorphism. The cluster analysis results use the Unweighted Pair Group Methods using Arithmetic averages (UPGMA) method to create a dendrogram that produces two main clusters. There were plain seed and pattern seed group with a similarity coefficient of 0.52. These results indicated that the genetic variation of the lima beans from Timor Island was high. Moreover, the result provides a sutable method for evaluating the genetic diversity of lima beans using the ISSR marker and important information of future lima bean breeding programs.

Abstract

Recent more intensive explorations and collections of hornworts in Mt. Slamet indicated that six species can be recognized, namely Anthoceros punctatus, Folioceros fuciformis, Phaeoceros carolinianus, P. exiguus, Dendroceros difficilis, and Megaceros flagellaris. Since originally only one species D. difficilis was recorded from this area, this means that five species represent new records for the area, whereas P. exiguus is not only a new record for Java, but it is also a new record for Malesia.

Abstract

Bryophyta (lumut) adalah salah satu kelompok tumbuhan sederhana yang dapat ditemukan di area sedikit cahaya dan lembab. Mengingat pentingnya peran lumut bagi alam dan juga belum adanya data mengenai jenis-jenis lumut di kawasan wisata Coban Pelangi, maka penelitian ini dilakukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis-jenis tumbuhan lumut yang tumbuh di kawasan wisata Coban Pelangi Poncokusumo, Kabupaten Malang-Jawa Timur. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan metode eksploratif. Penelitian ini dilakukan di sepanjang jalur kawasan wisata setelah pintu masuk hingga sekitar air terjun. Hasil penelitian diperoleh 19 spesies lumut yang terdiri atas 1 spesies lumut tanduk, 12 spesies lumut daun dan 6 spesies lumut hati. Empat belas jenis lumut teridentifikasi hingga tingkat spesies dan 5 jenis teridentifikasi hingga tingkat genus. Sebanyak 6 spesies lumut ditemukan tumbuh pada substrat tanah, 6 spesies lumut yang tumbuh pada substrat pohon atau kayu, 6 spesies lumut yang tumbuh di substrat batu dan 1 spesies yang tumbuh pada substrat tanah dan batu.

Abstract

Pulasan is an androdioecious plant that has both male and hermaphrodite flowers on separate plants. The objectives of this study were to obtain data about the anatomical structure of pulasan flower and to investigate whether the pistil and the stamens of pulasan flower reach maturity at different times. The anatomical observation was done on compound flowers taken from three male trees and three hermaphrodite trees. Two compound flowers that still in buds, about to bloom and fully bloom were picked from each tree.  Flowers were observed in a cross and longitudinal section. The results showed that the sepals of pulasan flower comprised of the uniseriate epidermis and multilayered polyhedral parenchymal cells. Stamen development started from the anther followed by the formation of the filament. The pollen of hermaphrodite pulasan flowers reached maturation earlier than the pistil. The pistil development started from the expansion of meristem cells in the center of the flower and ends with the warp of the stigma.

Abstract

The genus Pycnoporus is a member of Phylum Basidiomycota. This fungus is one of polypore genera that is easily recognized from the orange color of the fruiting body and it likely has high morphological features. Currently, there are 207 number fungal specimens kept in Herbarium Bogoriense (BO) under the genus Pycnoporus, and they were identified as P. sa-nguineus (L.) Murrill, P. cinnabarinus (Jacq.) P. Karst., and Pycnoporus sp. To ensure that those species name of the Pycnoporus collections is correct, thus this study was carried out.  Re-identification process on the fungal collections was done based on macro-micromorphological features of all Pycnoporus specimens. This study revealed that species Pycnoporus collections stored in BO represent 2 species: P.sanguineus (L.) Murrill and P. puniceus (Fr.) Ryvarden. In addition, some specimens under the name P. cinnabarinus should be validated as P. puniceus. This information will be very useful for fungal taxonomists, non-taxonomists, and people who work on Pycnoporus species from Indonesia.

Rekaman Baru Chloothamnus Buse (Poaceae: Bambusoideae) dari Pulau Sumbawa dan Catatan Tentang Marganya di Malesia. Floribunda 6(4): 127–132. — Dari hasil eksplorasi yang dilakukan di P. Sumbawa ditemukan jenis Chloothamnus schmutzii yang semula dilaporkan hanya tumbuh di daerah Manggarai, P. Flores. Dengan ditemukannya jenis ini membuktikan bahwa Sumbawa mempunyai hubungan erat secara geografi dengan daratan Flores Barat. Pertelaan jenis C. schmutzii disiapkan untuk melengkapi pertelaan jenisnya yang waktu dipertelakan tidak lengkap. Foto pelepah buluh spesimen C. schmutzii disajikan. Secara keseluruhan, terdapat 11 jenis Chloothamnus di Malesia (delapan di Papua New Guinea, dua di Kepulauan Sunda Kecil, satu di Jawa). I Putu Gede P. Damayanto, Ida Bagus K. Floribunda 6(4): 127–132. — From the exploration occurred at Sumbawa Island, it was found that Chloothamnus schmutzii which was reported only found in Manggarai District, Flores Island. Through the discovery of this species proves that Sumbawa has close relationship geography with the West Flores mainland. The description of C. schmutzii is presented to fulfil the species description which was not completed when it is described. The photograph of culm-sheath of C. schmutzii specimen is presented. Overall, there are 11 species of Chloothamnus in Malesia (eight in Papua New Guinea, two in the Lesser Sunda Islands, one in Java).

Abstract

Petai tersebar di Indonesia termasuk di Sumatra bagian Tengah. Keanekaragaman petai di wilayah ini belum banyak diungkapkan. Penelitian ini mengamati keanekaragaman morfologi petai yang tersebar di Sumatra bagian Tengah. Sampel dikoleksi dari 9 lokasi di provinsi Sumatra Barat, Riau, dan Jambi. Sebanyak 29 aksesi tumbuhan petai (ZH1-29) diamati 38 ciri morfologinya, selanjutnya dilakukan analisis fenetik menggunakan metode Unweighted Pair group method with arithmetic average (UPGMA). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan Petai dari wilayah ini tersusun atas dua jenis yaitu Parkia singularis Miq. dan P. speciosa Hassk. Petai bervariasi pada 9 ciri penting yaitu bentuk ujung dan pangkal anak daun; panjang tangkai polong; bentuk dan ukuran polong; jumlah biji per polong, jarak antar biji, jarak biji ke tepi polong, dan ketebalan kulit. Analisis keserupaan  mengelompokan semua aksesi petai jenis P. speciosa  dan memisahkan dari jenis P. singularis.  P. speciosa dikelompokkan lebih lanjut sesuai dengan kultivar lokal yang dikenal masyarakat. Dua kultivar lokal memiliki ciri unggul yaitu Petai Papan dan Petai Papan1. Kunci dan deskripsi dari masing-masing nama lokal petai disediakan.

Abstract

Paku merupakan tumbuhan vaskular penghasil spora yang terdiri atas akar, rimpang dan ental.  Bagian rimpang, stipe dan bagian muda dari helaian daun seringkali ditutupi oleh indumentum (sisik/rambut). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkarakterisasi mikromorfologi dari 18 jenis paku terpilih yang dijumpai di kawasan kebun teh Kampung Citalahab. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan metode jelajah bebas. Karakter mikromorfologi diamati dan didokumentasikan menggunakan mikroskop. Hasil pengamatan disajikan dalam bentuk gambar dan dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil karakterisasi mikromorfologi menunjukkan variasi pada warna sisik dan bentuk sisik. Karakter mikromorfologi yang diamati dapat memperkaya bukti taksonomi setiap jenis paku.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan karakterisasi mikromorfologi pada tiga jenis Ficus rekaman baru di pulau Jawa yaitu F. auriculata, F. maclellandii, dan F. natalensis subsp. leprieurii. Spesimen yang digunakan adalah spesimen koleksi basah asal Bogor, Bandung dan Madura. Preparat anatomi yang dibuat adalah preparat paradermal helaian daun, dan preparat transversal helaian dan tangkai daun. Karakter yang diamati adalah 28 karakter kualitatif dan 18 karakter kuantitatif. Beberapa karakter kualitatif sebagai pembeda jenis adalah tipe dinding antiklinal epidermis, tipe stomata, letak sel penjaga stomata terhadap epidermis, jumlah lapisan mesofil palisade dan kerapatan mesofil spons, tipe organ pelindung, struktur berkas pembuluh, persebaran sel tanin, sel litosis, dan kristal oksalat. Karakter kuantitatif pembeda jenis adalah ukuran stomata, indeks stomata, jumlah lapisan palisade, kolenkim dan parenkim. Adanya struktur dua lapis epidermis, lapisan kutikula tebal, dan proporsi mesofil lebih dari 50% pada F. maclellandii mengindikasikan sifat xeromorfik atau tahan terhadap cekaman kekeringan yang membutuhkan kajian fisiologis lebih lanjut.
