Abstract

Deadlock detection is one of the main issues of software testing in High Performance Computing (HPC) and also inexascale computing areas in the near future. Developing and testing programs for machines which have millions of cores is not an easy task. HPC program consists of thousands (or millions) of parallel processes which need to communicate with each other in the runtime. Message Passing Interface (MPI) is a standard library which provides this communication capability and it is frequently used in the HPC. Exascale programs are expected to be developed using MPI standard library. For parallel programs, deadlock is one of the expected problems. In this paper, we discuss the deadlock detection for exascale MPI-based programs where the scalability and efficiency are critical issues. The proposed method detects and flags the processes and communication operations which are potential to cause deadlocks in a scalable and efficient manner. MPI benchmark programs were used to test the proposed method.

Abstract

In this paper, a novel design method for determining the optimal PID controller parameters for non-linear power system using the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is presented. The direct feedback linearization (DFL) technique is used to linearize the nonlinear system for computing the PID (DFL-PID) controller parameters. By taking an example of single machine infinite bus (SMIB) power system it has been shown that PSO based PID controller stabilizes the system and restores the pre-fault system performance after fault is cleared and line is restored. The performance of this controlled system is compared with the performance of DFL-state feedback controlled power system. It has been shown that the performance of DFL-PID controlled system is superior compared to DFL-state feedback controlled system. For simulation MATLAB 7 software is used.

Abstract

A‎atrial fibrillation (AF) is the arrhythmia that commonly causes death in the adults. We measured AR coefficients using Burg’s method for each 15 second segment of ECG. These features are classified using the different statistical classifiers: kernel SVM and KNN classifier. The performance of the algorithm was evaluated on signals from MIT Physionet database.. The effect of AR model order and data length was tested on the classification results. This method shows better results can be used for practical use in the clinics.‏

Abstract

A wireless sensor network is made up of a large number of small sensor nodes with limited energy resources, which is a real problem for this network. In this article, we will study the ingestion of node energy in these networks at the routing level. In addition, we are modifying one of the most popular routing algorithms for data communication in the WSN: LEACH (Adaptive Hierarchy with Low Power Consumption). The modified version of the LEACH base version "MG_LEACH" uses an intermediate cluster header to transmit data, extend the network lifetime and send more data than the original protocol. Our proposed algorithm is simulated using MATLAB to verify the effectiveness of improving the lifetime of this network. The results of the simulation confirmed that the system was working better than the LEACH basic system and that the network life had been improved.

Abstract

Service request scheduling has a major impact on the performance of the service processing design in a large-scale distributed computing environment like cloud systems. It is desirable to have a service request scheduling principle that evenly distributes the workload among the servers, according to their capacities. The capacities of the servers are termed high or low relative to one another. Therefore, there is a need to quantify the server capacity to overcome this subjective assessment. Subsequently, a method to split and distribute the service requests based on this quantified server capacity is also needed. The novelty of this research paper is to address these requirements by devising a service request scheduling principle for a heterogeneous distributed system using appropriate statistical methods, namely Conjoint analysis and Z-score. Suitable experiments were conducted and the experimental results show considerable improvement in the performance of the designed service request scheduling principle compared to a few other existing principles. Areas of further improvement have also been identified and presented.

Abstract

Classifying odor in real experiment presents some challenges, especially the uncertainty of the odor concentration and dispersion that can lead to a difficulty in obtaining an accurate datasets. In this study, to enhance the accuracy, datasets arrangement based on MOS sensors parameters using SVM approach for odor classification is proposed. The sensors are tested to determine the sensors' time response, sensors' peak duration, sensors' sensitivity, and sensors' stability when applied to the various sources at different range. Three sources were used in experimental test, namely: ethanol, methanol, and acetone. The gas sensors characteristics are analyzed in open sampling method to see the sensors' performance in real situation. These performances are considered as the base of choosing the position in collecting the datasets. The sensors in dynamic experiment have average of precision of 93.8-97.0%, the accuracy 93.3-96.7%, and the recall 93.3-96.7%. This values indicates that the collected datasets can support the SVM in improving the intelligent sensing when conducting odor classification work.

Abstract

An effective resource management is one of the critical success factors for precise virtualization process in cloud computing in presence of dynamic demands of the user. After reviewing the existing research work towards resource management in cloud, it was found that there is still a large scope of enhancement. The existing techniques are found not to completely utilize the potential features of virtual machine in order to perform resource allocation. This paper presents a framework called FDMC or Framework for Decision Making in Cloud that gives better capability for the VMs to perform resource allocation. The contribution of FDMC is a joint operation of VM to ensure faster processing of task and thereby withstand more number of increasing traffic. The study outcome was compared with some of the existing systems to find FDMC excels better performance in the scale of task allocation time, amount of core wasted, amount of storage wasted, and communication cost.

Abstract

Test arranging is a basic issue in structure on-a-chip (S.O.C) experiment mechanization. Capable investigation designs constrain the general organization check request time, keep away from analysis reserve conflicts, in addition to purpose of restriction control disseminating in the midst of examination manner. In this broadsheet, we absent a fused method to manage a couple of test arranging issues. We first present a system to choose perfect timetables for sensibly evaluated SOC’s among need associations, i.e., plans that spare alluring orderings among tests. This furthermore acquaints a capable heuristic estimation with plan examinations designed for enormous S.O.Cs through need necessities in polynomial occasion. We portray a narrative figuring with the purpose of uses pre-emption of tests to secure capable date-books in favour of SOCs. Exploratory marks on behalf of an educational S-O-C plus a cutting edge SOC exhibit with the aim of capable investigation timetables be able to subsist gained in sensible CPU occasion.

Abstract

Smart Home concept is to connect several devices to perform control and the device to be controlled to help any human needs. So it should have one device being Host and several devices being Client. The environment in this case is a home that there is too much technology that planted technologies that has much influence at human activities is called pervasive computing. The device communication should be has a protocol, at the research used UDP protocol because it doesn't need to negotiate before performing communication like a TCP. With UDP behavior did not use to validate at every send or deliver data because at Smart Home environment doesn't need a large or big data being processed. LabView used at this research based on previous research, but MyRIO has used this research to perform Client and Host performed by PC. So it can measure how usable the design that created. This research proves that LabView and MyRIO successfully implemented with the design that created to perform Pervasive Computing for Smart Home environment. Functional testing scenario conducted by every condition that on system environment, based on design all testing scenario successfully and working as well as expected.
