Abstract

This paper presents a status data transmitting system suitable for vessel monitoring. The system consists of four main parts, which are a status data module, a frequency synthesizer, a power amplifier and a horn antenna. The status data module packs information of the identification, longitude, latitude and state of the vessel into data frames. FSK/MSK/GMSK schemes were used to modulate the data. The frequency synthesizer was designed with very high stability over temperature and very low frequency tolerance. The power amplifier provides 130 W output power at S band. The impedance bandwidth of the horn antenna can be controlled using the beveling technique.

Abstract

The increase of cyber-attacks on industrial and power systems in the recent years make the cybersecurity of supervisory control and data acquisition and substation automation systemsa high important engineering issue. This paper proposes a defense in depth cybersecurity solution for smart substations in different layers of the substation automation system. In fact, it presents possible vulnerabilities in the substation automation system and propose a multiple layer solution based on best practice in cyber security such as the hardening ofdevices, whitelisting, network configuration, network segmentation, role-based account management and cyber security management and deployement.

Abstract

Breast cancer is one of the major causes of death among women all over the world. The most frequently used diagnosis tool to detect breast cancer is ultrasound. However, to segment the breast ultrasound images is a difficult thing. Some studies show that the active contour models have been proved to be the most successful methods for medical image segmentation. The level set method is a class of curve evolution methods based on the geometric active contour model. Morphological operation describes a range of image processing technique that deal with the shape of features in an image. Morphological operations are applied to remove imperfections that introduced during segmentation. In this paper, we have evaluated three level set methods that combined with morphological operations to segment the breast lesions. The level set methods that used in our research are the Chan Vese (C-V) model, the Selective Binary and Gaussian Filtering Regularized Level Set (SBGFRLS) model and the Distance Regularized Level Set Evolution (DRLSE) model. Furthermore, to evaluate the method, we compared the segmented breast lesion that obtained by each method with the lesion that obtained manually by radiologists. The evaluation is done by four metrics: Dice Similarity Coefficient (DSC), True-Positive Ratio (TPR), True-Negative Ratio (TNR), and Accuracy (ACC). Our experimental results with 30 breast ultrasound images showed that the C-V model that combined with morphological operations have better performance than the other two methods according to mean value of DSC metrics.

Abstract

In the distributed transmit antenna MIMO OFDM system, each transmitting antenna has different frequency offset between each transmitting antenna and receiver due to the use of independent crystal oscillator. This paper proposes Polynomial-time algorithm for correcting the frequency offset in a received signal by maximizing the conditional average signal. The algorithm focus on reducing to interference and noise ratio of each subcarrier on the receiving antenna by frequency offset. The simulation result shows the performance of the proposed algorithm is slightly improved compared with the existing frequency offset correction algorithm, and the complexity is reduced by 50% or more.

Abstract

Since last decades, the pulse width modulation (PWM) techniques have been an intensive research subject. Also, different kinds of methodologies have been presented on inverter switching losses, inverter output current/ voltage total harmonic distortion (THD), inverter maximum output of DC bus voltage. The Sinusoidal PWM is generally used to control the inverter output voltage and it helps to maintains drive performance. The recent years have seen digital modulation mechanisms based on theory of space vector i.e. Space vector PWM (SVPWM). The SVPWM mechanism offers the enhanced amplitude modulation indexes (MI) than sinusoidal PWM along with the reduction in the harmonics of inverter output voltage and reduced communication losses. Currently, the digital control mechanisms have got more attention than the analog counterparts, as the performance and reliability of microprocessors has increased. Most of the SVPWM mechanisms are performed by using the analog or digital circuits like microcontrollers and DSPs. From the recent study, analysis gives that use of Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) can offer more efficient and faster solutions. This paper discusses the numerous existing research aspects of FPGA realization for voltage source inverter (VSI) along with the future line of research.

Abstract

Since the objective of grid is sharing the numerous and heterogeneous resources, resource discovery is a challenging issue. Recently appeared, Ontosum, is a resource discovery method based on semantically linked organizations and a routing algorithm Resource Distance Vector (RDV), has been presented to forward resource discovery queries into the clusters. Although this framework is efficient for large-scale grids and nodes are clustered automatically based on semantic attributes to constitute a semantically linked overlay network, but the dynamic behavior of grid isn’t considered. In this method, deceptive information is stored in RDV tables (RDVT) which cause some problems in routing process. In this paper, a method is proposed to improve the dynamism of RDV routing algorithm, so the consistency with grid environments is increased. Abstract

A common voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) architecture used in the phase locked loop (PLL) is the ring oscillator (RO). RO consist of number of inverters cascaded together as the input of the first stage connected to the output of the last stage. It is important to design the RO to be work at desired frequency depend on application with low power consumption. This paper presents a review the performance evaluation of different delay cell topologies the implemented in the ring oscillator. The various topologies analyzed includes current starved delay cell, differential delay cell and current follower cell. Performance evaluation includes frequency range, frequency stability, phase noise and power consumption had been reviewed and comparison of different topologies has been discussed. It is observed that starved current delay cell have lower power consumption and the different of the frequency range is small as compared to other type of delay cell.

Abstract

Efficient management and leadership can be achieved via precise planning for selection, recruitment, and optimization of the labor force. One of the major goals in labor force selection and recruitment is the fit between people and an organization. This phenomenon is known as person-individual fit. In this research, the authors collected data via a survey aimed at exploring the relationship between person-individual fit and organizational effectiveness at the University of Isfahan. The research hypotheses were tested through variables such as environmental congruence, KSA (knowledge/skills/abilities) congruence, goals congruence, values congruence, and personality congruence, as dimensions of person-individual fit. The aim of this study is developing and practical and from the procedure implemented is introducing-analyzing. The sample studied in this study is the mangers and employers of the university in Isfahan. A stratified random sampling method was used based the Morgan table and a sample size of 120 was chosen from among 150 persons. The results revealed that there is a significant relationship between dimensions of person-individual fit and organizational effectiveness.

Abstract

With the continued growth of mobile devices usage, wireless communications improvement, and cloud computing evolution, many educational institutions around the world, especially universities and colleges, began to provide their students with mobile learning systems based on cloud computing. The widespread, ubiquitous, and flexible natures of mobile devices make mobile learning an attractive alternative in education, particularly when integrating it with cloud computing which is the up-to-date technology that delivers computing hardware and software as services. However, the participatory between mobile learning and cloud computing as a cloud based mobile learning (CBML) becomes one of the important methods in the learning process. Many researches have attempted to combine the unique features of CBML in a form of frameworks. These frameworks have been designed to identify, categorize, or evaluate the major components of the CBML system. This paper is an attempt to identify the important role of cloud computing technology in mobile learning, investigate the main advantages and limitations of CBML systems, and explore the previously designed CBML frameworks.

Abstract

Basis test paths is a method that uses a graph contains nodes as a representation of codes and the lines as a sequence of code execution steps. Determination of basis test paths can be generated using a Genetic Algorithm, but the drawback was the number of iterations affect the possibility of visibility of the appropriate basis path. When the iteration is less, there is a possibility the paths do not appear all. Conversely, if the iteration is too much, all the paths have appeared in the middle of iteration. This research aims to optimize the performance of Genetic Algorithms for the generation of Basis Test Paths by determining how many iterations level corresponding to the characteristics of the code. Code metrics Node, Edge, VG, NBD, LOC were used as features to determine the number of iterations. J48 classifier was employed as a method to predict the number of iterations. There were 17 methods have selected as a data training, and 16 methods as a data test. The system was able to predict 84.5% of 58 basis paths. Efficiency test results also show that our system was able to seek Basis Paths 35% faster than the old system.
