Abstract

Inadequate storage of medicines at home is a common health problem in the community. Therefore, it is important to promote this issue through interesting media to increase knowledge related to medication storage. This study aims to compare conventional media (leaflet) with motion graphics in increasing knowledge of drug storage at home. Quasi-experimental research with a pretest-posttest design was applied to 45 housewives with similar education levels. In the initial stage, the leaflet group (23 people) and the motion graphic group (22 people) were given a pretest about medication storage, then were intervened with the media for 5 minutes, we're given a post-test afterward. The results showed there were significant differences in medication storage knowledge between groups that were exposed to motion graphics and leaflets (p-value=0,029). The median score of the knowledge in the motion graphic group was significantly higher (85,71) than the leaflet group (71,43). Motion graphics might be beneficial as an educational media to deliver message related to effective drug management for the community, especially housewives.

Abstract

Scabies is an environmental-based contagious disease caused by mite infection "Sarkopes Scabiei Var Hominis". In the working area of Tanjung Sari Health Center, Natar Subdistrict, during 2014-2015, scabies was in third place in the top 10 contagious diseases. Every month an average of 12 sufferers (8,33%) per month are found, distributed in all age groups (0-5 years to ≥65 years). This study aims to determine the risk factors for scabies in the community by using a 1: 1 case-control design. Cases are people who have had scabies, while community controls who have never had scabies. The results of the study, the proportion of case and control groups who had risk factors for scabies in sequence: education level (82,5% and 68,0%), living habits (39,2% and 17,5%), physical environment (45,4% and 5,2%), biological environment (66,0% and 46,4%), social environment (56,7% and 3,1%), knowledge (72,2% and 36,1%), attitudes (12,4% and 6,2%), actions (86,6% and 52,6%), and sanitation (93,8% and 42,3%) There have eight risk factors that statistically show a significant relationship (p-value <0,05), i.e. level of education, living habits, physical environment, biological environment, social environment, knowledge, actions, and sanitation factors. Respondents with a bad social environment have a risk of sick scabies 41,03 times greater than respondents with a good social environment, sanitation that does not qualify as a risk of 20,72 times greater than those that meet the required sanitation, a dense physical environment has a risk of 15,28 times greater than the physical environment is not dense.

Abstract

Postpartum depression is a mood disorder that occurs after delivery. This disorder usually occurs around 2-6 weeks after giving birth. Research shows that the incidence of postpartum depression is 1 to 2 of 1000 births and that 25% of mothers who have just given birth experience severe postpartum depression and that in mothers giving birth to their next child around 20%. Symptoms of postpartum depression include depressed mood, loss of interest or pleasure in the activity, impaired appetite, sleep disturbance, physical agitation or psychomotor slowdown, weakness, feeling useless, difficulty concentrating, even suicidal ideation. It is important to do an early diagnosis of postpartum depression to both prevent and make symptoms worse. Mothers with postpartum depression need to get broad and maximum management from various parties, including families, closest people, and health workers from multidisciplinary sciences. In its handling, non-pharmacological therapies can be given such as psychological therapy and changes in daily behavior and also pharmacological therapies that previously need to be consulted to doctors such as tricyclic antidepressant drugs (TCAs) to reduce symptoms of postpartum depression.

Abstract

The rate of stunting or dwarf or acute malnutrition in children aged 1000 days in Indonesia is stagnant, which is around 37% of births from 2007 to 2013 (World Bank Report: Aiming High and Riskesdas, 2013). Children who are stunted will be more susceptible to illness and experience a decline in cognitive abilities that impact on the child's economic abilities in the future. Family development and empowerment is part of sensitive nutrition interventions. In carrying out its function role, the family has views and beliefs which will certainly affect the way the family takes care of children. This family paradigm is a basic belief held by the family, and guides actions in caring for and caring for their children. The "Rumah Belajar" activity guide for researchers developed into a joint study guide that families can do as a medium to analyze risky behavior in families with stunting toddlers in Singakerta Village, Ubud. This research uses quasi-experiment design. 66 families as a control group and 72 families as a treatment group. Samples are taken randomly from the number of banjar/posyandu available. Test the difference in the average of two sample pairs, before and after the "Rumah Belajar" activity in the treatment group. The results of the correlation before and after the "Rumah Belajar" in the treatment group showed a .866 figure with a probability value (sig) of .000. This means that family risk behavior is significantly related. Based on the comparison of the probability value (sig) .000 <0.05, then Ha is accepted that there are significant differences in family risk behavior before and after the "Rumah Belajar" activity.

Abstract

The prevalence of osteoarthritis is increasing with age. In osteoarthritis, there is a change in the joint process that fails to repair damaged cartilages and manifestations such as joint narrowing, osteophytosis, subcondral sclerosis, and abnormal bone shape. Pharmacological therapies such as analgesics, corticosteroids, glucosamine, chondroitin sulfate, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are used together with viscosupplementation to help and improve the development of arthritis. Intra-articular injection therapy is also used as a good choice for osteoarthritis therapy. Hyaluronic acid (HA) and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) are the two choices of intraarticular therapy that can be used. Hyaluronic acid can reshape cartilage through aggregation with proteoglycans and can improve synovial fluid present in the joints, but therapy with hyaluronic acid has a long-lasting, expensive, and proven effect. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a new therapy. PRP is obtained from blood centrifugation several times. PRP is very easy to get, cheap and non-invasive. PRP contains various growth factors that can regenerate damaged cartilages. PRP can be applied and has the same benefits as HA, but until now there has been no consensus that which is a better outcome between the two therapies. From various literature it is known that PRP is more effective than hyaluronic acid as osteoarthritis therapy.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) often give a macrovascular complication such as Peripheral arterial disease (PAD). Ankle-brachial index (ABI) is a sensitive and specific examination for PAD. Obesity can be a risk factor of PAD. Obesity can be classified by the BMI (Body Mass Index) classification. The purpose of this research is to analyze the relationship of BMI with ABI in Type 2 DM (T2DM) patients of Javanese ethnicity. This study was an observational analytic research with case-control design and used a purposive sampling technique. There were 40 case samples and 40 control samples. Data analysis used the Independent T-test and Chi-square test. There was a significant differences on age (p=0,000), METs (p-value=0,003), and ABI (p-value=0,002) between the two groups. In the DM group was found that most abnormal ABIs were found in the higher BMI, even though there was no significant correlation by the statistic (p-value=0,255). BMI contributed less to the ABI value of Javanese ethnic T2DM patients.

Abstract

Telehealth and telemedicine become a necessity in health services amid technological advancements so that health services can reach the wider community to remote places. Implementing telehealth and telemedicine must be accompanied by the readiness of health workers to adapt to it. The purpose of this study is to determine the readiness of health workers in developed and developing countries and the barriers that affect the readiness of health workers. The research method is a literature review. Articles are chosen through google scholar, SAGE, JSTOR, and Science Direct with the keyword “e-health readiness”, “telehealth readiness”, and “telemedicine readiness”. From a total of 4783 articles, there were 56 articles selected based on abstracts and measurement targets and in the end, 18 articles were taken that were full text available for review. The most common dimensions to measure the readiness of healthcare on telehealth or telemedicine are core readiness, engagement readiness, and structural readiness. The implementation in a developed country is quite good based on core readiness and engagement readiness dimensions, but it needs more improvement in the structural readiness dimension, while in developing countries, there are already some countries that run it well but most are still constrained in infrastructure and resources financial. Overall, obstacles to running telehealth or telemedicine are also affected by the lack of available technological infrastructure in a country, lack of training of health workers, and lack of capacity building for health workers so that they are less able to adapt to telehealth and telemedicine.
